You can listen to this exciting performance by Luciano 1000 times, but every time it gives you chills and goosebumps. Immense. We miss you so much, Luciano!!!
The Great Maestro named LUCIANO PAVAROTTI had this incredible ability to touched your SOUL.... using his exceptional VOICE. He usually touched and vibrate the souls of the HUMANS who heard his arias...... and even the ANGELS stopped in fascination just to listen to this miracle voice of a MAN.
Look up Jussi Björling. (From the gramaphone site in the UK) 'When anyone asks me to give an example of a perfectly controlled tenor voice I always mention Luciano Pavarotti and Jussi Björling. It is not a surprise that Pavarotti himself wrote that he modelled his career on the great Swedish tenor. (My comments here:-->) I was quite fortunate to grow up listening to opera as my father (1st generation - Sicily) would play his father's vinyl copies of the Italian opera treasures on Sundays before dinner. My father loved Jussi Björling and Richard Tucker and would explain the lyrics to me as operas tell stories, sometimes romantic, sometimes tragic and sometimes a bit violent but always powerful stories. Thanks for your sincere reaction video! BTW, I was enormously blessed in my late teens and decades to follow to be able to hear and see this gentle giant of opera perform live in many operas and concerts. Just disappointed I did not keep all of those programs and tickets receipts for posterity. There is so much video of Pavarotti on line about his life, family and gentle nature. I could watch these reaction videos until I close my eyes forever. Such a gift for me to see others discover and embrace God's gift of Pavarotti to us all!
You're memory is correct, it was used during the 1990 World Cup soccer and in 2006 in the Winter Olympics in Turin, Italy. And yes, you don't need to understand the lyrics here to feel the emotion... that is universal... love your hinest reaction.
Adding to my prayers daily, is that our young people will explore all of the music in our background and enjoy all of the beauties of the music God has given us.
this was hands-down one of the most outstanding performances in the entire history of music. period. i watched the whole concert many times over the years, and i still tear up every single time i listen to this one piece. it is so beautiful to see it being discovered by a whole new audience.
Please react to the song "Caruso" sung by Luciano Pavarotti. The writer of this song, Lucio Dalla (from Bologna, northern Italy), wrote this while staying in one of the rooms where Enrico Caruso, former famous tenor (From Neaples, southern Italy), spent the final days of his life. Caruso was 48-years-old when he died, and a few years before Caruso died, he married Dorothy Park Benjamin who was 20 years younger. They had a baby girl they named Gloria. Lucio Dalla wrote this song while imagining how Caruso, who knew he was dying, would have said goodbye to his young wife - the love of his life. Fun Fact: in sicilian dialect the word caruso means ragazzo in italian and boy in english.
I have rejoiced to see you young guys discovering the amazing range of genius singers and musicians we have or had in the world. This is many peoples favourite operatic song sung by Pavarotti the worlds greatest ever tenor. I want to cry every time I hear him sing it, his voice was glorious- a gift from God. Don’t be ashamed to cry! How often do u hear angels sing??♥️
Nessun dorma!... (Nobody shall sleep!...) Nessun dorma! (Nobody shall sleep!) Tu pure, o Principessa, (Even you, oh Princess,) nella tua fredda stanza, (in your cold room,) guardi le stelle, (watch the stars,) che fremono d'amore (that tremble with love) e di speranza. Tramontate, stelle! (Set, stars!) All'alba vincerò - (At dawn, I will win -) Vincerò - (I will win -) Vincerò!~ (I will wiiin!)
Hello, My mother before she died she would tell me that when she was a little girl ,her father would take her to the opera in New York City (She was from Brooklyn ,) she was Italian so they knew the word's She would never forget those days! She always wanted to see Luciano Pavarotti in concert I would tell her we would one day! I never did . Your reactions are Wonderful !
How you are shaking with the last high C says it all. :) Your soul has been shaken in that moment. I feel the same way every single time i hear it. It does always make me cry. ALWAYS.
This Is the magic of music. Luciano Pavarotti was a real superstar and for many years he sang at the Metropolitan Opera of New York. The song "nessun dorma" Is from the incompleted opera Turandot of Giacomo Puccini, who died before finishing this masterpiece. To love this song It Is not necessary to have an operistic culture and you don't Need ti understand the words. I understand the text of the song, and It Is very omantic. I'm half italian and my Mom (who's german) was a young soprano and she Is still singing at 71 years. I learnt from my Mom to listen all kind of music and this a great gift she gave me. Go on listening. Greetings from Italy.
I am inpressed with your honesty and reactions. Pavarotti has been a favorite of mine over the many years of my life. Seeing your video today reminded me...
Hi, I'm Italian and I came across this video by chance. The language is Italian and he was and will be a legend and among the Italians proud as well as the piece taken from Puccini's Turandot. I really like your genuine and true reaction, and it is admirable your humility in noting your ignorance. We are all very small and ignorant but we believe we are breaking the world. Then we happen to listen to Pure Beauty and all of a sudden it makes sense because Art reveals the soul.
Heard it hundreds of times. He is no longer with us... but for his amazing recordings. He is my favorite. I cry EVERY time; literally takes my breath. Only part of a passionate opera story. You MUST get an English translation to grasp the full emotion and follow as he sings.
The very best tenor to ever have lived and here he is singing the epitome of tenor arias. Flawless, with power and passion as only this man could achieve. His expression at the conclusion shows just how moved he was to share his gift with all who would listen. Bravo & thank you for sharing.
Great video, your reaction was really precious and genuine, which is why I particularly appreciated it! Yes, you are right, this clip is from The Three Tenors concert in Los Angeles in 1994, after the FIFA World Cup final match. As an Italian, and with a father who loved opera and Pavarotti so much, I was lucky to grow up listening to him. He really was one of a kind, and “Nessun Dorma” keeps moving me to tears and giving me shivers, even though I listened to it a thousand times. And Pavarotti + Puccini really are a match made in heaven. ❤
I love watching first timers! I can hear this 1000s if times and get chills every time. I grew up with this, beethoven and mozart etc., , but i play keyboards in a rock band.
Mad respect for being man enough to call yourself out. I really felt a lot of the same things you were feeling when I listened to it the first time. I had "heard" it probably a dozen times or so in the background but I never "listened" to it. But when I actually listened, changed the way I hear music.
Your listening was so attentive and respectful. It seems like you went deeply into yourself and also outwardly into the sublime. I enjoyed your commentary.
Darling, you are learning about all the beauty that is out there, and you will keep discovering new joys, and lead others to them. Bless your journey. You will hear others just as inspiring.
He was the best operatic tenor EVER. He was the master. Also listen to Andrea Bocelli...he does a divine duet with Celine Dion. I'm glad Pavarotti touched you. Sadly he passed at age 71 from pancreatic cancer. RIP Angel.
Thank you for your amazing reaction. Yes, the voice is from heaven. Pavarotti is arguably the greatest tenor and you should find more to watch. Bless you and welcome to the wonderful world of opera
Hello, I just watch your reaction to this, and it was wonderful. If you are still interested in more or are still doing reaction videos I have a great one for you to react to, look up Luciano Pavarotti singing A mes amis from the opera La fille de régiment also look up Joan Sutherland she is a Soprano she sang many times with him and also has a voice. Hope to see more videos of you they are great.
Mate how in heavens name do you not know Pavarotti, the greatest Tenor ever, and the greatest loss when we lost him. Can I make a suggestion play Nessie Dorma in a quiet room only by yourself, then watch his preparation for the song that he make. It is pure perfection.
Pavarotti died in 2007. He was one of the best tenors ever. My advise is to read the translated lyrics. There's great meaning in these songs. You can now say you've listen to the very best tenors ever to walk the earth.
Great Reaction! Also being ignorant about music, I think I can be accurate in saying you're right, this is the bar. There are others that produce emotion and powerful performances. But who is so technically polished with no reliance on that? Every sound optimized. But his heart and soul carrying the load. Moves me every time. I appreciate good reactions. Your reaction sets a bar too. Good and humble reaction.
Your first comment about infinite ignorance shows that even though that's true of all of us, you're more educated than a lot of people. Loved this reaction bro, I been watching reactions to this non-stop and my goosebumps don't know what's going on haha
Truly great music transports us from this place called earth to a wholly other dimension. It gives us that sense of pure joy that touching the angels must be like!
Does just not get better than this! Tears, every time...every time... Love your reaction! I heard it also, lying in our house, when my parents was alive... Always gave me goosebumps and tears, even then...
The exactly right reaction - speechlessness, disbelief that it could exist, tears, joy. The perfect union of voice and piece, Pavarotti and Puccini's Nessun Dorma.
This is another of the few songs that still ALWAYS give me goosebumps. The other traditional opera song that does it to me is La Mamma Morta by Maria Callas (also found on the ‘Philadelphia’ soundtrack, I think). I would definitely recommend trying that one.
I'm so happy that you love it because that means it touches you. He has a wanderer who has come into town and the empress wants to know who he is but no one knows he never said his name. Her decree is that no one sleeps through the night and if no one discovers his name they will all be put to death. When the chorus sings no one will come forth and we will all die but they're doing it so beautifully. I've heard this so many times and it always moves me
Opera is a totally Italian genre. Music, words, singer. There were singers almost as good as Pavarotti. But he's number one. This music touches the depths of everyone's soul.
Really honest reaction. Lovely that it moved and shocked you. I've been listening to it for decades, it never fails. Still truly amazing after all these years. Good luck and happy new year. Health and happiness.
First, my name is Mark and the picture is of my wife Marta...she has played piano concertos with full orchestras for over a decade and she is the one who introduced me to classical music and opera. This may sound strange but it is what I believe and there are many examples and evidence pointing to such. Music is God's language and somewhere deep if we really listen, most all can sense what it means. If someone just spoke the words in Italian perhaps only a few would understand, but the music...THIS MUSIC, makes you understand that somehow love is involved in some dire situation...and a sensitive human will feel it to the depths of their being! Obviously you are given that ability! Let me try to give a short picture of the story behind the opera, Turandot. "Nessun Dorma" English: "Let no one sleep" is an aria from the final act of Puccini's opera and one of the best-known tenor arias in all opera. It is sung by Calaf, who falls in love at first sight with the beautiful but cold Princess Turandot. Any man who wishes to wed Turandot must first answer her three riddles; if he fails, he will be beheaded. In the second act Calaf has answered her riddles correctly but she hesitates at the thought of marriage to him so he offers one last chance for her to avoid marriage. She can execute him if she correctly guesses his name by morning; but if she does not, she must marry him. The cruel and emotionally cold princess then decrees that none of her subjects shall sleep that night until his name is discovered. If they fail, all will be killed. In this aria, Calaf is alone in the moonlit palace gardens and expresses his triumphant assurance that he will win the princess. Puccini's and Pavarotti's most well known masterpiece! Franco Corelli was a little before Pavarotti but was truly amazing tenor also! here is a decent translation and will give you a sense of the mood: None shall sleep! None shall sleep! Not even you, oh Princess, in your cold bedroom, watching the stars that tremble with love, and with hope! But my secret is hidden within me; no one will know my name! No, no! On your mouth, I will say it when the light shines! And my kiss will dissolve the silence that makes you mine! Just before the climactic end, a chorus of women is heard singing in the distance: No one will know his name, and we will have to, alas, die, die! Calaf, now certain of victory, sings: Vanish, o night! Fade, you stars! Fade, you stars! At dawn, I will win! I will win! I will win! Thank you for the wonderful reaction!!!
The last word of this Aria...Vincero, meaning "I will win". Great story he tells. Nessun Dorma. It must be heard....this story makes this Aria so much more powerful.
You are NOT ignorant, at all. You are exploring music! That makes you a genius! Keep digging. You will find gems, and they are awesome... As a trained musician myself, I find it interesting that music can communicate even if you don't understand the language, and even if there is no singing at all. Try Tchaikovsky's 6th Symphony, the "Pathetique". It is a prime example. I heard it live once and I was off my game for three days...
I'm a big fan of this recording for the inspiration it gives me. So sometimes I listen to it 3 or 4 different reactions of this song every once in a while. I've seen a reaction to this recording quite a few times. But I've never seen one as truthful and heartfelt as that one. Thank you.
Here are the lyrics in English What is the English translation of ‘Nessun dorma’? None shall sleep, None shall sleep! Even you, oh Princess, In your cold room, Watch the stars, That tremble with love And with hope. But my secret is hidden within me, My name no one shall know, No... no... On your mouth, I will tell it, When the light shines. And my kiss will dissolve the silence that makes you mine! (No one will know his name and we must, alas, die.) Vanish, o night! Set, stars! Set, stars! At dawn, I will win! I will win! I will win! He is absolutely amazing.
