This is definitely one of the best videos.I don't know how many times they had to this skit to get it right .But I know I would never want to see another CHOCOLATE ever again.
We love Lucy and we love Ethel. We Baby Boomers really love Elvia Alman, the excellent actress who was a fixture in many 1950s and 1960s sitcoms. She really knows how to yell to spped up that assembly line!
The speed with which Lucy puts those candies down her blouse makes this even more funny than it already basically is for some reason. I guess because seeing her hand move so fast that it was a blur, there toward the end, is so unexpected; coupled with the fact that it is all so hilarious up to that point anyway, and then that speedy, superhuman arm motion kicked in. And her expressions. And the whole premise of it, and the sympathy the viewer feels for them both. This is one of the funniest scenes in the history of funny.
This is awesome. This is iconic because at this point no one knew women could be funny. No one knew women could ne cheeky and throw chocolate down their shirt for a laugh. Lucy was WAY ahead of the game. Kudos to her and Vivian for being pioneers.
The lady who played the forewoman was Elvia Allman. She appeared on several Lucy series, notably in the Lucy-Desi Comedy Hour where Tallulah Bankhead appeared.
GOD, what unhappy PEOPLE. The internet has 1) allow some of us to always find happiness, positive and GOOD while still others find the internet 2) a place to find something negative and divisive to say about HUMOR. JUST LAUGH FOR 1 MINUTE IT WILL ADD VALUE TO YOUR FACE. EQUANIMOUS GRATITUDE,
This scene actually wasn't stolen from Drake and Josh, its just that the scenario is quite common on tv shows. The main actress, "Lucy" or Lucille Ball, was born in 1911 and the last espisode was filmed live on April 4, 1957. So this scene was created and filmed between 1911 and 1957 (before "Drake and Josh" were even thought of as a show. Lucille Ball's career ended in the Red Scare because her name was on the blacklist, so case in point: this scene wasn't stolen from Drake and Josh.
While Lucille Ball did testify before the House Committee on Un-American Activities in 1953, it hardly ended her career. She went on to star in three more television series (The Lucy Show -- 1962-68; Here's Lucy -- 1968-74; and Life With Lucy -- 1986) in addition to numerous movie roles and guest appearances on countless television shows.
In no way did Lucys career end when you say. She worked regularly up until the eighties at least. She is a Hollywood legend. And it is obviously way before the Josh and Drake show. Just how it looks is a dead giveaway compared to more current television shows.
The best! And nothing was ever dirty or implied...today's so called 'comics' are such a tasteless bunch of jokers...especially the late night witless wonders of CBS ABC AND NBC.
Dr. Schiff from NYU Dental school put this vide as an example to watch this part to explain how increased speed can decrease efficiency --> GFR is high, filtrate ascends the Ascending loop of Henle rapidly, there is not enough time spent in there for normal amount of solute to be removed
+Karter Baskin Got it. You apparently didn't understand that my remark was intended as a tongue-in-cheek observation that this legendary comedy piece has been imitated countless times over the decades. The Lucy version remains the best of them all.
I guess so, for a couple of kids. All of the Disney channel stuff for me has always been second rate and immature. The Lucy version is light years beyond the Drake and Josh one for me. I did not laugh once at their version, but every time I see the Lucy version I laugh in a massive kind of way.
Ok, the conveyor belt going faster and faster and faster was just unfair. And no offense but a lot of the comments give me NPC vibes, or did I get exposed to too many genuine bot comments.
no, to answer your question 7 years later, but I can see the similarity. I dont know the actress's name but she was in a lot of sit coms back in that day, playing bit parts mostly.
This clip, to ME has become the greatest METAPHOR for what American Life has become. Speed up the TREADMILL and Stuff your FACE. This is what it has come down to. BB
