Shows nets being cleared from 0.43 to 13.00 minutes into the video Subsequent material of gutting, cleaning and icing all useful for assessing the size and condition of the fish.
12 minutes 4 seconds total net clearing videoed, during which time:
13 haddock, 11 pout, 5 lesser spotted dogfish and 8 scad cleared.
Other fish visible (eg in hand when clip starts): 3 ling, 1 john dory.
There were no fish discards, no bycatch (eg seabirds, marine mammals etc), one small piece seabed habitat debris (bryozoan).
Video prepared for Cefas FSP44 to help assess whether large mesh gillnets have low discards and bycatch, low environmental impact and enhanced economic value with the potential for greater quota allocation under Article 17 of the revised EU CFP. Video shot during the haddock peak in ICES Area VIIe, in Falmouth Bay, Cornwall.
Unlike 2014 dedicated Fishface videos, this video material was not gathered specifically for fish counts. All clips included uncut. Breaks were to allow stills photography, and would have been less likely likely to video during a quiet period of hauling. Nor do we have a surface track of distance covered.
Still photos and data of this haul, as well as photos and video of other fishing conducted by FY239 that day, along with details of total catch and the vessel are available on the Pisces website:

Net mesh was then estimated as 90mm. In the CHADFISH questionnaire reported as 4 ¼ inch, which would be 108 mm. Lucy Marianna vessel length 9.14 m
The sequence and timing area as follows (percentages are an initial estimated length of fish against the rubber roller width, 23 cm, of the Hauler (Spencer Carter Solo NHO-1) taking account of perspective. The values should be regarded as indicative.
