Just found your podcast on the RU-vid homepage. As someone who works in the tech industry, I find your perspective very fresh and insightful. I’m excited to listen to future episodes! Thank you for this

Thanks for listening. The tech sector today makes me think of a quotation from my favorite documentary: "your [Jurassic Park] scientists were so preoccupied with whether or not they could that they didn't stop to think if they should." For us, it isn't about being pro- or anti-tech, it is considering the long-term and systemic effects of adopting a piece of technology. Blindly adopting each piece of new technology is just as bad as rejecting it out of hand. It has to be considered. Thanks again.

2:05 Wasn't the same argument for the industrial revolution? Machines will take jobs away from humans? Same with software (say, Excel). I'm less concerned about jobs loss than about the fact that we forgot how to add numbers...

AI is only as good as the programmer who wrote it and the data it was fed initially. Did you ask ChatGPT what is its impact on society?

I've gotten some pretty sore throats hackling flax for linen fiber production. I think any time we're doing a concentrated, repetitive task, we open ourselves up to injury somehow. But point taken!

do luddites like emus pedaling bicycles?

Luddites would question how emus pedaling bicycles would affect society. :-)
