Alright to clarify because you guys forgot. Ace is after Blackbeard’s head because Blackbeard committed the unforgivable sin of killing a crewmate. Whitebeard’s crew has sub-commanders or division commanders. Ace is the second division commander and Blackbeard was part of the second division so Ace feels responsible for dealing with the situation. Mihawk is most definitely a warlord, idk how you got confused there. At no point did they say Mihawk wasn’t a warlord. He’s there with the other marines specifically because warlords were requested to meet up there. Thats why they’re not arresting him.

Bounties aren’t really a measure of power level, they’re more of a measure to how much of a threat they are to the World Government. It just so happens that the highest bounties = stronger individuals thus more of a threat to the Govt.

If you don't remember. Ace tattoo in his back is the flag of Whitebeard. He also told Luffy that he was looking for Blackbeard cuz Blackbeard killed one of their crew mates.

Ace is White Beard's 2nd division commander which doesn't make him 2nd strongest it just means he's trusted to lead one of WB divisions. Blackbeard aka Marshall D Teach was a member of the 2nd division so he was Ace's underling and he killed a crew member and jumped ship so Ace was looking to eliminate him as that was his duty as a division commander.

bounties are not a measure of one's strength but of how much threat he poses to the goverment, you can be weaker than someone with 40 million berries but have a higher bounty if you did vile acts like murdering innocents and stuff

It’s normal to be confused about the characters at this point in the story. Don’t worry, everything will be more clear as you watch

A bounty does not ever represent an individual’s strength. It’s literally just how much the government wants your ass. The more you annoy them, the higher your bounty, that’s all. It can come in the form of being the strongest therefore a threat to them, being a troublemaker or even being a serial killer. Like if Luffy met Bellamy before he met Crocodile, he would’ve still had his 30m bounty and would’ve still one shot Bellamy regardless. The 100m bounty is just more intimidating and a sign of prestige for pirates.

If you guys cant remember then pls write it in your notebook 📒 it will help you to remember things properly like write Warlord as heading then below write Mihawk and Crocodile and other warlord we will see later in the series then write Whitebeard below him Write, 1st 2nd 3rd etc division commander and write Ace in second place this will help you a lot in the series later on and before watching a episode and recording your reaction pls read that notebook properly so that you can connect the dots properly and understand the story more accurately and one last thing try to remember most of the characters name bcz they will play a significant role in the story later on.

something i learnt recently too but "hige" like in shuro hige or kuro hige directly translates to facial hair in english. So in localized translation kuro hige or shiro hige becomes black beard or white beard respectively but in japanese it refers to their white and black facial hair

Fellows, bare in mind what Yosaku said to Luffy and Sanji when he talks about the warlords... "The reason why the Grand Line is called Pirate Cementery, was because of three powers there are there. One of these powers are the seven warlords". And then Yosaku mentioned Mihawke being one of them, and Jimbe, an old Arlong tritan pal being other.

Ever since the East Blue we learn about the Grand Line being a pirate graveyard, we already saw some of the natural disasters occurring almost daily - and Blackbeard sails those seas on a friggin' raft. 😂

Guys, i'd strongly recomend You to take notes. Ace mentioned he's the commander of the second division of the whitebeard pirates and he's after blackbeard because he committed the worst crime in a pirate sheep, kill a nakama, and because blackbeard was his subordinate he has that responsability. Also, this recomendation is because, in One Piece there are tons of little details on the conversations of the characters, speeches or Even some frames of the places or texts and subtext that is going to be hard of remember completely without help. Just focus on names and motivations about what they're currently doing mainly, don't need to overcharge with everything.

Don't know if you caught it but Blackbeard's real name also has a D as the middle name. Marshall D Teach.

Having a bounty is a mark of how much the Navy wants to bring you in. It almost always would mean that you have a modicum of power (that you are dangerous), but the Navy may put more stress onto other factors.

Just to clear something up about bounties. they do NOT represent strength but rather the threat that one person poses to the world government. for example, Gol D Roger has the highest bounty of any pirate dead or alive because he successfully reached the final island in the grand line. *btw this next part isnt really spoilers, its literally just current bounties which isnt really that important but this is just here to let you guys know* This also holds true with Mihawk and Shanks, the current bounty on Shanks is 4,048,900,000 or 4.048 billion. and Mihawks current bounty is 3,590,000,000 or 3.59 billion. So even though it is mostly believed that Mihawk is equal or stonger than shanks, the only reason shanks has a higher bounty than mihawk is because shanks has a crew and mihawk is just one man. so the world government takes shanks as a bigger threat than mihawk even though shanks isnt necessarily stronger.

Red Hair and Whitebeard are Emperors of the Sea. (Not the War Lords) Mihawk is a War Lord. Blackbeard was part of Whitebeard Pirates under the Command of Ace. Basically, Blackbeard created his own Pirate Group.

I hate to be that guy this time, but Alabasta and meeting Ace wasn't even that long ago! How could you guys already forget that Blackbeard is the man that Ace was hunting down because Blackbeard killed his own crewmate and Ace was his commander. And just as a quick recap, Ace was the 2nd Division commander of Whitebeard's fleet and Blackbeard used to work under Ace.

Regarding the warlord's bounties. Its not directly explained in the show so its not a spoiler. They did have bounties when they were pirates. When they became warlords their bounties were frozen as they are basically employees of the world government

When Mihawk said he was just an onlooker, he meant that he had no intention to participate in their meeting and just wants to listen in on their discussion. So yes he's still a warlord, he's just not the most social person. And Ace works for Whitebeard, Ace wants to kill Blackbeard. Regarding Shanks and Whitebeard, just think of them as 2 very strong pirate crews with enough strength to rival the Navy. That's why the world government is nervous about what might happen if they meet.

Black Beard is an ex-White Beard crewmate who mutinied. Ace was his commander and was sent after him for retribution.

ok in simplest terms, Bounty posters are issued by the World government, and hence the bounty itself represents how much of a threat that pirate is considered by the government itself. Also, dont worry much, every question or doubts you will be cleared sooner or later

Some of the Pirate's treat their Bounty like a bragging right that's why they are so proud and about of it (except for ussop/nami bcos it threatens their lives) Also bounties doesn't just represent how strong they are it's also how much of a threat they are on the government/"higher ups" in any means; physical / knowledge / connections / family line/ etc (it'll be explained more in the next major arc(s)!)

I will be very careful not to spoil things, but make sure you really start paying attention to this episode in particular and the entire Skypiea arc. The main building blocks starts here!

So the introduction of the Whitebeard pirates and the Blackbeard pirates, with the soft relaunch of the warlords - is kinda big. Keep with One Piece. It'll be one of the best things ever. And it'll be worth it . bounties kinda related to strenght but not entirely. it is more like ''how much of a threat the world goverment sees you'' kinda thing.

Tldr: bounties are a soft power level system with more factors. Bounties are what you thought at first. Yes, they correlate with power level more often than not. They are also infamy or threat though, so can be amplified far beyond a pirate's power level. There will be weak people with high bounties and strong people with lower bounties. Warlords bounties freeze when they become warlords for example, so they could be worth 3x strength wise that had they never become a warlord.

Now the One Piece world is expanding really fast, we got introduced to some real players, love it. Also love that at this point at time in the manga they still keep the Hercules bettle Luffy gave them ❤❤
