The original flip side of "To Sir With Love" was "The Boat That I Row", while the flip side of "Morning Dew" was "You And I". Later when Epic would put two hits on one single after their original chart runs were over to promote sales, that's when they paired up these two songs. So you have a re-issue and not the original single.
Such a beautiful rendition of this song (written by Bonnie Dobson). Lulu puts the emotion in it so fantastically. The production is fabulous. John Paul Jones if I'm not mistaken. I think this is my fav version 😊❤
Charisma and a great voice Lulu was indeed versatile, and had a good rock band of the era chosen her to front them I think the results could have been sensational.
NO singer today would be capable of this. The times, the culture, the weltanschauung, all render it a complete impossibility. Each age has its own spirit. This was the late 1960's, the culmination of a tumultuous decade which saw greatness arise in every field: science, music, art, sports, politics. The revisionists will attempt to cover over those times, to condemn them, to tell of the self centered socially unaware pleasure seekers or the masses holed up in their plebian suburban homes slaves to the "boob" tube. But music and performances such as this one by Lulu, and the music, are proof that those times did exist, that such art and such senses of life not only could be, but were, in fact realized and occurred. This will prove as uncomfortable for the social revisionists as it is incomprehensible to the mindless automatons of contemporary youth. The mere threat of such a world is enough to stop benevolent fascists, elitists and pseudo Marxist revolutionaries cold. Attempts may be made to erase this music and all memory of its world just as violent rage is now turned against statues and other cultural artifiacs by those unable to stand the facts of history. These attempts will fail. Cultural revolution against such human spirit is futile. The Chinese already found this out. Others wll.
@@armchairgeneral576 Ha ! Thanks ! I lived through those times and know that this spirit I speak of can be rediscovered, now, by people of any age, through this wonderful medium of the Internet. I foresee those who will deny, repress, even censor this spirit. But the power and effect of just one song by a young woman calling herself "Lulu" is enough to destroy such attempts.
@@meep2576 It was terrific! I saw her a few times in the fall of 2017, and then again in 2019. My luck has been with me. I've enjoyed seeing many artists from the 1960's and 1970's. It's so great to see so many of them still on the road and doing what they love to do.
She's got a fabulous range, can you imagine if she'd had the kind of material Dusty Springfield had? She could have been one of our great blue eyed soul singers, alas!
