There are not many 🥝 players and certainly none good enough to even play in Grand Slams. So credit for breaking thru. And she even went to Texas university. Like pro players never do that.
She says not alot of difference playing qualifies and getting into the draw of a major. Where everyone wants to just utter that and this like how she says it
Kia ora Lulu. You've been a huge inspiration for my 12 y/o tennis playing Maori girl. Was thrilling to watch you smash it this morning, (NZT) under the roof on the main court at Wimbeldon. We're all watching in Aotearoa. AMAZING!
🇳🇿 New Zealand born 🇨🇳 Chinese Mum 🇭🇷 Croatian Dad 🇨🇭 Swiss Raised 🇺🇸 University Be some very proud Nations associated with Lulu.. Learning Korean; speaks French which will assist her when she teams up with Erin Routliffe in the womens doubles to represent New Zealand at the Paris Olympics Her next match against Donna, the winner will carry forward Croatian Heritage and then you have the European/Asian connection with Emma Radacanu: Romanian Dad & Chinese Mum..amazing stuff TINO RAWA PAI LULU HAERE TONU. KIA KAHA
The British crowd are always fair. We support our brits but Sun played amazing and deserved applause throughout for he shot making. We are not like the French who abuse players and whistle and boo disrespectfully throughout.
She played great. Terrific forehand, obviously, but her backhand had some oomph to it too. And great aggressive style. Will be fascinating to see how she goes in the future.
Congratulations Lulu, you did great!! I loved watching your matches. Very proud you came back to represent New Zealand, you are an inspiration for all Kiwis, especially those of us who have a mixed background. Great decision to go to the US for college as well! Hope you keep going further, Kia kaha! 🥝
so impressed with her game, where has she been with this amount of ability...such a strong all round game, didnt really ever look like she would lose against Emma...gd luck to her..hope she goes all the way...
@@peekaboopeekaboo1165 do you mean as its pronounced with the english commentary from all english speaking news channels coverage... but thanks for the reminder
I honestly think British crowds in tennis are some of the nicer ones, yes they cheer really loudly for their players which you might find annoying or pretentious but at least they don't boo or jeer often (if hardly at all) when the players are serving, I remember certain French crowds, Australian crowds (especially when kyriogs or kokkinakis) and even Italian crowds boo and jeer in between serves. Not all and not all the time but more often that Brit crowds
Gr8 player gr8 personality. Hope she doesn't vanish away after this slam as some of the past players, for example Alexandra Stevenson. Hope she will be consistent enough to stay on top of the game.
She deserves to win Grand Slams. For a qualifying to get this far is unheard of. She can be just like Emma. But 3 more rounds to go and no Iga Saba or Coco Puff to stop her.
@@jonfreeman9682 more than just winning a single grand slam she needs to be consistent in other tournaments also to have a long career. Hope she doesn't end up a one slam wonder.
Lulu seems lovely. She played an excellent match. Her all-court play is really refreshing with those beautiful volleys backing up great ground strokes. Who knows? She might go all the way and do what Emma did in the U.S. She was SO mentally strong yesterday. I really hope she can maintain that. Finally, Emma can leave Wimbledon '24 with her head held high. She had a great week and the signs are good for the future. Lulu would have beaten anybody yesterday with that level.
For those of us in the UK who are in our 50’s, that’s now three famous Lulu’s who have appeared on TV. One is obvious but a clue to the other ….. John Noakes 🤔😉😂
Texas University cost over 110.000 Us dollars for Out if State students. So it is not like Lulu is from a working class family. So she is blessed she had a chance to go study and live there. Not many people and tennisplayers have a budget to study to this amount.
Have you ever heard of a Sports Scholarship? She was invited to join the UT Tennis team - and by the way I graduated from UT Austin in 1986 - Ausitin is a great city.
Time to shine and new star is born.Hope to see more of Lulu beating other players in the way she did today. Bruising Raducanu's defense. Just like 'John Wick' style. Attack first before they can touch you😂
Well done Lulu. Did not expect a no name player from an unknown country to make it this far in a Grand Slam. Great to see new talent breaking thru. She can be just like Emma.
Considering Emma was the local, Lulu expected much worse from the crowd. Fair enough. Maybe they had some merci towards Lulu because she isn't a ranked / experienced player. Nobody wants to be a bully of the weaker player in a match.
Which part of the entire island of Borneo are you in? Your statement above seems to say that the entire island of Borneo is part of Malaysia. Even though most of the area of the island of Borneo is part of the territory of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia 🇮🇩
@@iwanagung005i think its pretty clear when he said he is from Borneo and specifically from East Malaysia...and not saying the whole of Borneo is Malaysia.
If this lady turned pro instead of going to college, she might be a better player than what she is now. Even though she knocked out my favorite Emma, I still congrats her and wish her the best.
“Sun was born in New Zealand to a Croatian father and a Chinese mother. She was raised in Geneva, Switzerland from the age of five, where she completed her school education. She attended college in the United States at the University of Texas at Austin, graduating in 2022 with a BA in Political Science.”
Well said and spoken qualifies alot gets into a draw one match at a time enjoyment of Tennis 🎾 and then Tournaments in the zone.Everyone in the World claims her shes happy must be superb super way from strangers to fan like an overnight sensation.China,Croatia, Switzerland, New Zealand and even Texas has part like ONJ the same all would claim her Australia did but they do anything and everything to claim someone from another Country.Next match with Donna she can go far both will than they done before
She will be a great ambassador for the sport and can be like Naomi and Emma an ambassador for the sport in not just 🥝 but all of Asia. If she can win this Grand Slam huge huge huge multimillion $ endorsements will flood in. She'll make $90 million next year from sponsors if she can pull this off. Players like Naomi Emma and this girl have huge international brand appeal and massively promote the sport.
An extremely lucky draw and while she might be a nice person, she definitely overachieved here. I think this fairy tale ends with the next match, otherwise I'll come back here and eat some crow.
This no name player is about to become a household brand like Naomi and Emma and Coco if she can win this Grand Slam. Always great seeing new talent break thru.
Made her? A stupid comment. You mean winning her last match to play Emma after she also won. That is how the draw works. Emma is made out of glass. She said her wrist was stiff. She could have played doubles with Andy instead of practising. Now she is out of Wimbledon completely.
@@user-ph1fu2us5g haha ha autocorrect ain't so smart... meant all Brits cause after Andy Murray retired she now carries the torch for British 🎾 cause there's no one else... too bad she didn't play doubles with Andy Murray as she's free now... this no name girl breaking thru is just like Emma and if she can win this Grand Slam she'll be the first to win from qualifying. No Iga no Saba no Coco Puff so looking good 🤞🏼
@@jonfreeman9682No she is not! While she was going through her 5 minutes of fame there were other ladies stepping up that didn’t enjoy the same attention. Glad the circus has left town.
Not really, she hasn't won anything yet although that may change if she does win Wimbledon and becomes only the second qualifier after Emma to win a major.
One slam is still better than no slam wonder. And she won it early in her career so she'll make millions in endorsements for years to come. If you win a slam at the end of your career there will be hardly any money coming in when you retire.
