Hi Elena - I understand your concern - this is not a minor procedure - but in the hands of a skilled surgeon, the chance of significant complications is very low, and the improvement in symptoms for the patient is dramatic...

Great video thanks. . Question What are the chances of returning to a very hard heavy lifting construction job after a L5\S1 Alif with pedicle screws ??

Hi Brian - assuming you've had a good result from the surgery, and you are otherwise well, the chances of returning to a physically strenuous job is very good. Typically, surgeons recommend avoidance of strenuous activities for 3-6 months post-op. You should consult your surgeon before returning to work - she knows your medical condition and is in the best position to advise you in this respect...I hope this helps

Great video! Thank you! What are the chances of great vessels (and iliac vein and artery) injury from retractor? Also, since ureters are retroperitoneal structures, can they be injured too? Thanks! 🙏

Hi SH - in the hands of an experienced surgeon, the chance of injury to the great vessels and ureters is low (but possible)... trialimage.com

What is better, alif or tlif for runners?

Hi Denis - on balance, the ALIF is the superior procedure, but depending on what direction, and to what degree, the disc(s) herniate, the TLIF may be preferable. Assessment by a qualified spinal surgeon is essential to assist you in choosing the best procedure
