I have owned both of these camera and agree with you in regards to the value proposition of the LUMIX. That said the Canon C70 is the superior video tool. I do wish it had a proper magnesium alloy body, and a more robust build. Honestly, If you are at this price point the Sony FX6 is a better options. Full frame, eVNDs… it’s a versatile shooter. I’m currently shooting with Reds… Have also the excellent A9III. You only appreciate that camera once you have shot with it.

@@angryrabbitproductions1690 I couldn’t agree more , there was something about the c70 that made you want to take it in your hand and shoot with! On top of that , the updates provided internal raw shooting which is amazing for my type of shooting as it gives me creative flexibility in post . I think any camera can be used in a professional manner , it just depends on the amount of devices you attach to the camera to make it so. I would love to try out a FX6 to see how that would go .. but I’m quite spoiled with the black magic systems now so something really amazing would need to come about to change my mind! I just bought a C70 after using a C100 M2 for 5 years (still a great camera even 10 years old). Once you have built-in NDs and Audio very hard to go back. That said the Panasonic S52 is a game changer - incredible feature set, full frame = great low light performance, finally good autofocus, cooling fan and terrific image quality - for under $2k! I knew the pros and cons when I got the super-35 sensor C70 but I have no regrets so far. I may yet buy a S52 with a Canon adapter as a B/Gimbal cam as it's pretty amazing for such a cheap price. One other thing I'll note as I have a coworker with the S52X - the C70 battery life is terrific while the S52's is pretty bad.

the c70 is amazing ! the nd's omg yes and autofocus was a bit more reliable than the lumix! Great choice !

The C70 is a great 4k camera, but id love to see a 6k or 8k version to rivel the 8k raw internal recording of the Nikon Z9. And as hybrid camera the best value is unquestionably the Panasonic s5iix with its class leading ibis, 6k and prores HQ to ssd.

Nice video...i recently purchased a used canon c100 mark 1 and love it. I needed a grab and go cinema camera and my neighbor was selling it and had no regrets. Because of how much i enjoy the c100, i would have loved to get a c70, but i agree with you, the price does not justify for me. Especially since i already have a zcam e2s6 cinema camera and lumix s5 for those high end projects.

Cameras are so good right now , what ever you pick up it will be great . The C70 is pricey still keeping its value high and for good reason ! The autofocus was slightly better still on it then the lumix. So has its merits, but for the price I would definitely hunt around for more options

I also wanted to try the C100 but then I realized that it can only record in 8 bit. It's a deal breaker for a cinema camera.

Even having just purchased a C70 there will always be a place in my heart for the C100 - just a reliable, solid workhorse - tiny, gradable files, excellent battery life - I will never say words of disrespect for this camera. If Canon had made the C100 4K 422 10bit internal they would have sold a million of them - great form factor and controls.

Just out of curiousity, what lenses made the camera look “camcorder” like. And what lenses did you use that changed your mind. Asking because I’m getting the C70 soon and I seriously don’t want that camcorder feel haha. Except for certain projects, I want my image to look as filmic as possible. and if you recommend any specific lenses that would be great 🙌🏻🙌🏻 thank you!

Hi mate, the 24-70mm f2,8 RF was more work to get a the filmic look, straight conversion to a 709 just looked camcorder like especially with no lights or prep to the frame it seemed more 2009 docu series. Obviously this will change as you prep the frame with lights and a well chosen cam angle , but the whole point to me mentioning it was because some lenses you put on and your instatly getting that filmic look ( anamorphic are a good example ) I am just finishing a video best lenses to get for the BMPCC4K - i use it with a metabones adapter and all the lenses where EF mount so possibly might be of interest to you , i only used the C70 with the EF to RF adapter so all the lenses i used where EF. As for the lenses i used which changed my mind are the Tokina 11-16 f2.8DXII, sigma 18-35 and my fav the Tokina 50-135 f2,8 ( great lens for video , lots of character ) if you have the time check out the video next week i will have lots of samples with these lenses.

Hey man, thank you so much for the reply 🙌🏻🙌🏻. That was very informative. Will take note. Also, have you tried cine lenses? I know it’s tougher to manual focus but they look sooo filmic. I have a meike 25mm T2.1 and it looks amazing. Anyway, thanks again!
