I remember the day Screw died. We was coming from the Student Center headed back to the dorms at Texas Southern University. Our RA was walking up up looking depressed as fuck. We all like, whats wrong with you Smitty? He said he's gone. We all like, who the fuck gone? he said Screw just died. Fucked up our whole mood. RIP Screw!!

I was a waiter at Papadeaux’s back in the day… Screw was at a birthday dinner or celebration there shortly before he died… I was in my late 20s and remember thinking his skin looked kinda gray and he looked sickly… it was a lot of people and he paid for everyone… he died shortly after that… I remember thinking why none of his friends or family didn’t say anything or try to get him some help… it was obvious he wasn’t well…
I was so used to Screw's version the original version of Mind Went Blank sound different to me. Screw went off on that track. But Screw was so cold on the tables. Screw could mix the same song on different tapes and both of them would be fire. He did that with Picture Me Rollin and Wonder If Heaven Got a Ghetto just to name a few of my favorites
Always thought screw choppin esg swangin and bangin was one of the hardest songs he ever mixed.., everything he touched was a banger.. there’s songs I can’t listen to unless it’s the screwed version.

He could have been saved, but people were so accostomed to him nodding out and being unconscious, they assumed he was high and not dead. A responsible friend would have called the ambulance if they knew Screw was in the bathroom unconscious for over an hour.
