Super_skarp American: Making fun of dubs that act like Japan doesn’t exist Italian: I think I got that impression from the Gibli movie. They were around a town that vaguely resembled Italy, and I just assumed that was the main place they were all the time.
I have to say, the English VA they chose for Zenigata is *UNBELIEVABLY SPOT ON*. I can barely believe how EXACTLY his voice, speech, even the ways he yells, laughs, sneers, growls, screams, etc. match the original Japanese VA Gorō Naya in every way ! ! ! :D This feels incredibly satisfying for me, as a long-time Japanese fan of the show. Jigen's friggin' good too - heck, they _all_ are! :)
I seriously don’t know why he doesn’t voice him again. I mean the new one is good and I loved his performance in the first but I this Zenigata is my favorite
Jennifer Strickland Same although it could be really bad at times LOL. I know Tony Oliver and Rest of the cast could do more serious Iterations if lupin iii if Given the chance. Part 5 is kind of the start of that, But for some reason he just doesn’t have the same Vulgar tone and vocabulary in it, and his Voice doesn’t seem as natural as it did in part 2. Wish I could voice direct for it, It’s a shame that some But the greatest Lupin the third film and OVA’s never get a dub. Mysery of Mamo was the only one this dub did. By the way I have a lupin the third animated short I made on my channel You might want to check out if you’re a fan.
8:12 perfect fucking line. This ones got me bursting laughing. This series almost feels like it’s an official abridge. That’s one part of why the Lupin series is so special.
0:45 I gotta give props to the voice actor because I don't think there was any way he could not make that sound goofy. 2:45 Goemon doing a Theodore Esquire impression followed by Jigen belching is a riot.
Dan Lorge was truly a treasure. Kinda sad that he decided to retire after 2007, would have been interesting to hear him play Zenigata in Parts 4 - present. Although I will admit, Doug Erholtz does a pretty good job mimicking his voice, all he’s missing is that snarky accent!
Yeah, but I think that's just due to zeni being more toned down/ serious in the more recent parts... which is a shame, because he can totally make some of the crazy shouting and growling and crazed laughing noises that zeni makes in the early dubs (he had some moments in lupin iii the first that really reminded me of pt 2 zeni shenanigans)
If Zenigata is able to constantly track Lupin and friends and even managing to get very lucky arrests on them on occasion, wouldn't that suggest he's actually a *really* good inspector?
He's actually a very competent officer who's responsible from bringing in hundreds of criminals over the years. It's just that Lupin and company are just that much better at evading Zenigata than Zenigata is at catching them.
Oh, he is. Lupin and crew are just that skilled that they evade him constantly. With them slipping through his fingers constantly, it makes it look likr he's incompetent. Plus it probably doesn't help his own sanity for them to evade him constantly.
Pops can immediately identify the right key on that ring for that set of cuffs. And he always can find Lupin anywhere he goes. Man truly is the best detective in the world. Lupin's just that much better.
"A dark intent resides within its luminous form, you must forsake its materiality or be consumed by its quintessence." "You wanna run that one by me again, Goemon?" "No not really." [knocks it out of her hands] Comedy. Gold.
3:44 Zenigata: Hey, hold on, now. Are you really Lupin?? Lupin: That's what my _mama_ calls me! That doesn't make sense... Why would his mom call him by his surname? Although, I can't imagine a Japanese mom calling her son 'Arsène', either... Aru-chan?? Is that you?
Crystalline Entity I mean in Japan family members call each other by their first names, cause they’d all have the same last name, which would be confusing.
Wait Lupin pulled a Batman and fought a Superman? I mean dang I never thought he would get THAT crazy. XD Maybe it explains part 5 when Zenigata was an amnesiac later had his identity flowing back to him and one of Zenigata's returning memories regarding Lupin's Adventures had one of Lupin wearing some red SuperHero attire.
@@yourcordialvermillionchapw2398 it does actually. You can watch the episode I mentioned, "Lupin Vs. Superman" online in subbed form. Won't tell ya where, but you can find it.
@@yourcordialvermillionchapw2398 also, there was an entire Lupin special where one of the plot points was that Zenigata, for almost the whole special, could not remember who he was. Lupin was trying to help him get his memories of himself back.
Crystalline Entity I could have easily seen Dan Castelanetta play Zenigata if they still used primarily union actors like in the 90s dubs for the movies
Hey, that looked like them! B-b-b-b-b-b! Nah, it can't be... my brain's just rattled from this damn donkey ride. I mean, lots of people go hang gliding into remote drug cult temples all the time and then-- D'OH, IT IS HIM!!
I choose to believe that Zenigata doesn't actually know complete Japanese, he only knows anything relating to Lupin regardless of what language it's in after a study period about the same length of time as a normalish language class.
5:36 "Ehh...see that new James Bond flick. Maan that Halle Berry is easy on the eyes 👀.. Pierce Brosnan, I can take or leave... I mean he's no George Lazenby but then again who isn't 🤓...," LMAO early 00s pop culture reference
OH MY GOD AFTER ALL THESE YEARS I FOUND THE FAKE BIKINI MODEL SCENE THAT'S BEEN LINGERING IN MY MIND FOR A DECADE LMFAO. I've had that scene where Zenigata lures him with the fake babe stuck in my head since I saw it once on TV back in the day it first aired, never could find that episode until now lol
