Good band...really good people! When my niece's husband was dying of Leukemia in their hometown, one of the Van Zants, simply knowing my niece from the local bank, donated a signed guitar for a raffle to raise money for his medical care.
Here I am a 60 yr old Canadian woman listening to you guys every night. I send this song to my two boys (you remind me of them) on mother's Day every year. Loved, loved, loved this reaction.
I know what you mean.I lost my father many years ago.I watched my husband take his last breath I held my sister in my arms when she passed because I promised her I wouldn't let her die alone and I have lost 2 friends in the last year.I am my 75 year old mother's sole caregiver and everyone doesn't think to love them now because they won't be here forever
@Buddy Wiser when people get sick, the dwell on being "terminally ill"not realizing we spend our entire life on this earth terminally ill.Life itself is in fact a terminal illness. For those who believe in purgatory,it's where we are now. What we do here determines where we go later.
Not to mention the fact that Aerosmith could have easily been in their place. They refused to use that very same plane for their own tour and Lynyrd Skynrd decided to use it instead, even when they had bad feelings about the old plane themselves. They were planning a replacement after that very tragic trip and that is the sick irony of the whole thing.
Skynyrd was actually on a sort of resurgence after the release of Street Survivors which showcased Steve Gaines taking over from original guitarist and founding member Ed King. They skyrocketed onto the scene 3 years earlier with “Sweet Home Alabama”, “Freebird”, etc. So they were pretty huge from about ‘74 on.
Wow am I the only only that gets goosebumbs all over when I listen to this, and my heart screams of joy, like YES! THIS! Fuck all the media bullshit and the polarizing nonsense that is continually pounded into our heads daily, and just follow THIS! Be a Simple kind of man. Something you can love and understand!
This song was inspired by the death of Ronnie Van Zant's grandmother. The guitar solo is performed by Gary Rossington, the sole constant member of Lynyrd Skynyrd. the writer of this song is Gary Rossington And Ron Van Zant
Lynyrd Skynyrd! What a band! These guys were hitting it big until they unfortunately had a plane crash in which three of the members died. They were so good that they were cursed, is the word.
Great reaction. Yes, Mom, Grandma showed us love. A lesson written on their lives. If we were paying attention. We get it twisted. But he's right, all you need is found in your Soul. God Bless them, God Love you.
I dedicate this song to my son Benny! Mom’s advice is so important!! I love that he respects me and loves me, because he knows I respect and love him! Thanks guys!
In high school we used to have small parties with just us close friends. And we would listen to Skynyrd all night and we did this for many years! So Skynyrd gives me some special memories.
From a mom's point of view toward my own son, this song just makes me melancholy because I lost my son 5 years ago when he was still a young man of 31. I miss him every single day. RIP Daniel, March 1984-- September 2015.
@@texas6150 I LOVVVVVVVVED SHINEDOWN (and the others of COURSE). But, I only loved Shinedown’s ORIGINAL band and their songs (with Jasin as lead guitarist and Brad on bass). It’s just NEVER been even 1/4 the same since , in my opinion.
@@gingeroo5765 although I agree there music has changed a bit with Zack, I believe its more about the evolution of Smith. Don't you agree that The Sound Of Madness is a great album? ..With that being said, as long as Smith has the mic, everything is good.
@@texas6150 also Limp Bizkit, Yellowcard, Red Jumpsuit Apparatus, Blackfoot and sooooo many more. My family also knew Fred Durst. I was a huge fan of RJA for a while.
@@imshannonnottellin7882 I am aware of Fred Dirst, Yellowcard, didn't know from Jacksonville though. Thanks for the knowledge. Love Yellowcard by the way!
Maybe you guys don’t realize it but you have already learned very important life lessons from your parents. You’ve learned the lesson of appreciation and love and what’s really important in life. Watching you absorb the meaning of this song and talk about it so openly and honestly was a true joy. Yes the music and the writing is outstanding but you saw past just that. You got it. I think your parents must be very proud.
My youngest son he sings and plays this song I've played this song for my boys for long long long time I love my kids very much may the Lord keep us blessed always
This song always breaks my heart. My mom passed on her 50th birthday when I was 21, and my dad passed at 57, when I was 28. I have always believed there was more I could have learned from them. Daddy passed in 1988, 33 years ago. I have lived more of my life without either of my parents than with.
I’m so sorry for your early losses. My dad passed in 2012, but my 90 year old mom is still here. I’ve been sick lately with pneumonia and have started thinking about the future. When the supreme being taps us on the shoulder and whispers in our ear that our eternal vacation has come, what’s the value of all this “stuff” we’ve all strived for all our lives? Is it going into the box with us? I’ve started reevaluating what’s really important versus materialistic “things.”
Illume, I am so sorry to hear about your parents. I related so much to your story as I was very young like you when I lost both of my parents. I also lost both of my brothers within four months of each other several years ago. I feel like my life would have been very different by having them teach and encourage me along the way. It certainly makes us stronger but I would rather have had them guide me along and share life's journeys. My best goes out to you. This song makes me sad too.💔
My husband’s mother knew when she was dying so she got to choose the music for her funeral. She chose this song for him, her only son. For Christmas I got him an enormous framed piece of art with all the lyrics of this song written in the shape of a heart.
They have a song called "every mother's son" you might like. The thing about Ronnie Van Zant I find most amazing is that he never wrote down the lyrics to any of his songs it was all in his head 🤯 he said "if you have to write it down to remember it.... It ain't worth remembering" " That Smell" is a must hear from them ✌️♥️
My favorite song which I sang at my brother's funeral this past June 2020. It's so beautiful. Thank you for your reaction. Lynyrd Skynyrd is from here where I live in Jacksonville FLORIDA!
I totally dig the reaction from you guys. Lynyrd Skynyrd will live on in time. I highly recommend that you both become familiar with the history of this exceptional band. There are plenty of videos in regards to that.
Hello from your new subscriber in Charlotte, NC, USA! It's very cool to see you guys reacting to this LEGENDARY Southern Rock band! Tragedy struck Lynyrd Skynyrd & blindsided all of their fans! I hope you'll continue enjoying them, The Allman Brothers, .38 Special, The Marshall Tucker Band, the amazing Stevie Ray Vaughan, etc.! Peace, love and stay safe!🔥🤘
Cherish those times your parents gave or tried to give you advice. My parents have been gone for a long time and I’d give anything to have one of those days back again..
Cherish ever day, we are not promised the next moment. No matter what family member I was talking/arguing with that last words we ended with was I Love You (Thank GOD for that wisdom)
I used to sing this to my son as a lullaby while I rocked him to sleep.... fyi- the video enhances all the feelings you were expressing; especially when the guitar solo starts 😉 its epic
Cover/Tribute “Shinedown” Simple Man” the video. Brent Smith vocals are amazing. They are one of my favorite bands. They have a lot of good songs. Second Chance” 45” Sound of Madness” Monsters” 🔥🔥🔥
"What she gonna say"? She is going to show him the path to a long and beautiful life filled with all the love, joy, and hope he could ever imagine... because that is the only thing we mothers wish for our sons. That's what she is going to say. I want you to know how much I appreciate and enjoy your insight and thoughts about your parents after the song. Very wise and beautiful judgment, you have. If you could ever really know exactly how much your parents love you, it would probably kill you. It is that profound. When you have children you will know then. Just be a "simple kind of man" and enjoy all the beauty that comes from that.
Nice reaction and even better observations about life and family. I would say your parents are doing a good job with you guys just by what your saying. My parents motto was : "Family Is Everything" and they had 11 kids. Lots of love ...It's all you really need.
One of my very favourite bands, both studio and live, great reaction guys.. But another incredible band, who are my current favourite, The Warning is a band you should check out. A 3 piece power trio that will knock your socks off.
I keep my children surrounded by Classic Rock and Country, from infancy on, to keep the bad influences out. I made it a point to play this every time my son and I were alone. Music is a teaching tool for children, more than you realize. Sub’d....Thanks Guys!
Yes as I always say to you Boyz I Love You and the music you react to, incredible!!!!! I've been jonesing for you guys to do Simple Man coz I knew you'd get it. Thankyou 💙 Namaste 🇱🇷💯😘❣️
One of my favorite songs of all time. I wanted a son so bad so I could dedicate this song to him. Lol. Had all girls. But. Same rule applies right? George. Your love of music thrills me. It’s a joy watching you get lost in the music
Their music will stand the test of time....other generations will still rock to them.Lucky to have seen them at least 25 times. They have many great ones....try “ That Smell”,”Gimme Three Steps”,etc.Your reactions are good live lessons in themselves...thank you.
Beautiful song with a great message... that's my son's favorite from this talented group.I love your reactions guys!!! Keep up the good work & keep reacting to this legendary & extraordinary music... greetings from Riverside,Ca.
I am guessing the Georgia yall are from is not the same Georgia I am from--I saw Lynyrd Skynyrd live many times and they were always incredible. How blessed we were . I love yalls reaction and your mama did very well raising you.
Recently subscribed to your channel and I love it ♥️ I’m all about old school rock but love all kinds of music 🎸🎤 This is my favorite band of all time along with Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd & Queen so you guys are firing on all cylinders 🥰🥰 Nice job!! I would highly suggest their song “I Know a Little”
Love watching you guy's. All of the music y'all are reacting to is what I grew up listening 🎧 too.. Lynyrd Skynyrd was & is a great legacy.. loved you're understanding of the msg in this song.. have y'all reacted to freebird live. California coliseum.
I really like how you guys talk about your parents the best thing in life is your parents and your siblings if you have that you're very very rich may the good Lord look after you and your parents.
The Buddha said that all attachments are hell. To be Complete and find Love in the World and Your Self (same thing really) just be simple, direct, honest, and pure of heart. Gratitude is the Sword and Forgiveness is the Shield. Love and joy is the natural state for a healthy mind.
