Fresh of the success of the Agatha Raisin television series, New York Times bestselling author M.C. Beaton discusses what's in store for her star sleuth, and the background behind her new book The Witches' Tree - on sale 10/3/17.
I never knew what she meant when she describes Agatha's eyes as 'bearlike' until I saw MC Beaton. Yes bearlike is exactly what her eyes look like. She modelled Aggies face to her own.
M C is an interesting lady. One couldn’t call her novels well written..... she frequently uses her characters to beat the drum of her hobby horse ‘smoking’ and it’s associated issues.... which takes a prime position in all of the Agatha Raisin novels and soon becomes ‘wearing’....... She’s obviously well travelled and her descriptive passages are accurate and evocative....... M C is a lady who feels that she still has something to say......
Yes I half-agree. Raisin is so aggressively pugnacious, and the smoking is awful! But I like a female protagonist who makes things happen, and she does express love and concern for-at least-James.
