why the door is closed to the public? if it was an accident, it can show the doors, there is nothing to hide! why the door is monitored by a military eras. Why the ship was 15 minutes late for his departure on the last day? why a truck was loaded from? Why why the boat sank in 30 minutes? because normally if the door is broken, the water will be returned to the car deck but just in the car deck but not in the other compartments....

thank you for making the video. Still, in the year 2012 many of us is wondering what really happened that night 28.9.1994. Hopefully the truth will be found some day, leaving all the rumours behind. Still the "official" report does not tell all the truth.. sorry to say but it's all behind the politics. I know nothing will bring Estonia or it's victims back to live. R.I.P all who died. Still there are lots of sons, daughters, husbands, wifes, etc. who lost their beloved.. they want the truth
I made a myth where the souls of the VERY OLD ship wasa (that did Sink) were very mad because one of the name of the ship was m/s wasa king and they made this almost impossible thing happen. Rest In Peace.
I'm utterly sad about the people who died that day, but I'm even more mad at the Swedish, Estonian, Finnish and US politicians, who have once again performed a cover-up instead of an investigation. They have even criminalized diving to the ship wreck and paid $350 million in order to cover the ship with sand by a company which specializes in neutralizing nuclear waste. Also, there was a 10-day NATO exercise called Cooperative Venture 94, which started exactly on that day and happened in the vicinity. We should stop allowing this attitude towards us from the elites. They have constantly lied to us in the past, do that now and plan on doing that in the future. We have to resist and change the system! I'm curious, that front loading design of the Estonia vessel is it still in use today on other ferries? Because it didn't fair well enough during very rough and turbulent seas that it caused it to sink. Wow, so sad of the victims that were lost that night.
No it's not because of bad design. After this accident they welded al the other existing visor's so they could never be opened again. It's a shame that they never checked the Estonia after the accident with the Diana, it could have been prevented but you know, in this kind of business there's never time for proper maintenance.
Yes, it was well known that the visor design was bad but despite that it wasn't the design faults that caused the sinking. It was later discovered that the crew and the shipping company had neglected the necessary maintenance measures making the ship totally unseaworthy. The aim of the official accident investigation comission was clearly too political.
Terrible tragedy. Rest in Peace to those innocent victims. Hopefully, the lessons learnt from the sinking are now in use for safety at sea. Still a bit baffled at how the bow visor was torn away in the storm. I thought the ship would have been well built to withstand those type of conditions. I found it strange at why they decided to leave the bodies of the victims still inside the wreck. You would have thought their remains would be returned to their families.
Well the thing is that for 12 years she traveled very different route that was mainly between Turku-Marianhamn-Stockholm, so she never before becoming Estonia (she was named Viking Sally, Silja Star and Wasa King before that) had to go through such heavy waves as in more open sea between Tallinn-Stockholm. So essentially the bow visor design was to withstand waves to certain point and if she had continued to travel between her 1980-1992 routes, nothing would have likely happened. But the the much rougher conditions that night in 1994 combined with high speed were enough to break down the locks/hinges. So there are many factors to blame, not only the design, but also that Finnish authorities had said the ship was perfectly fine for more open sea travel (which it essentially was if conditions were normal), high speed in such conditions, not having water tight doors behind the car ramp, have the car ramp lined so with the visor that when the visor fell it also tore the ramp down with it etc.....no visibility from the bridge to the bow/visor... I mean just like many major accidents there were so many factors in this, and not just single one to blame.

Unfortunately on this occasion, it was proved this wasn't so, despite the Estonia's previous travels. Just like the Titanic tragedy and every other major ship disaster, there were some harsh lessons learnt.
@@DJ-jn3on yeap, I mean even when you consider when she was built, there were better/safer designed ships made during that time...like in many ships that were before or around that same time as Estonia, you could atleast see the visor from the bridge and some visor designs were much safer/stronger than that in Estonia and I think some ships already back then had water proof doors behind the visor/car ramp.... But ye for whatever reason this ship was not designed with all safety aspects in mind. The biggest mistake of all was that there had been similar visor accidents before, but no changes were made to Estonia, even when she was given from Finland to Estonia and on to this new ship route with potentially much harder conditions like during that night. thats really what makes this tragedy all the more sad that it could have been so easily prevented, but thats the case with so many other major disasters as well.
@@Balnazzardi Yes, I watched a TV programme called Zero Hour,which explained what went wrong that night. It was interesting, but still awful. I think after all this time, the bodies in the wreck would have probably disintegrated now. Horrible way to die.
@@DJ-jn3on Ye Ive read the official accident report and just to think based on that and the reports of survivors what those last moments have been like for those trapped in the ship, not able to get out....just horrible, all those people couldnt do anything but wait for death to arrive after it became impossible to climb out anymore :(
There is not a day that goes by that I think about this Ferry .. I wish that they will one day raise it to determine what actually cause the sinking of the Estonia. I believe that this is a cover up and the bow visor was ripped of the ship to say that it felled off. Why is there a hole on the port side of the ship ?
you know me I have travel in Estonia, and I can saidis not a poor ship bad maintenance and other..... and I have a lots of video from ESTONIA, and other, the ship is perfect
Hi, the ship was given 5 serious enough reasons not to be allowed to leave the port right before its last journey (during practice/education inspektion, but with no authority because the inspektion was education/school practice). Anyway, can u find MrKallek91's comment posted one year after your comment (now 5 years ago). Do u know anything about that explanation (i have not heard it before, i.e. that the bow door damaged the ship when fell of and made holes below the waterline so that water could enter straight into the lower floors below car deck? (dont think i have ever seen that kind of damage in the front of the ship in any of the diving footage though) Another question, there is clearly another hole below the waterline, but do you know which side it was? The lifting cylinders of the visor tore long cuts to the deck as the visor was held on by only them in the last stage of separation. water entered areas beneath the car deck trough these large holes into the bottom sections of the ship. What is so unclear about it?
Perhaps interesting explanation though images does not seem to support such a scenario 6:40. Where in the report does it say that is what happened? Or answere, who makes this claim and where? Or is it only your own speculation? Hmm.. When i come to think of it, none of the diving footage ever say anything about such kind of damage that u talk about near the bow area. I have not seen any diver ever showing or describing any such kind of damage, that kind of holes tjat u talk about. Footage from diving does not support your claime. If that is false and u r right, please show evidence to support your claim. None of the diving footage i have seen supports what u claim, when i come to think about it.
Video, photo ? I think again no! you know just by journalist ! and journalist is not a proof..... You know, gouvernement confirm Estonia ship transported military armed in september 1994.... And why we said Estonia diddnt sink by accident ! because why gouvernement forbidden to deep for see Estonia ?, ?, why he not explain the hole big hole in hull find by indenpendante invistegation in 2000, Why to not see the door in the public and cut all lock hydraulic and hidding !
