I love this lens. While it is not a pro lens, it is so lightweight and versatile, that it's simply a fun lens to use, for casual birding, subject isolation, and cats. :)
This is the best VFM telephoto zoom in history. I picked one up used for $150 (I got v.lucky). I love using it. Sooo light. Amazing IQ at 100% and even 200% resolution. MFT rocks.
I bought it just a month ago. The reach/weight ratio is incredible, I couldn’t care less about the supposed quality issues, no one that I’ve shared my images to this past month has mentioned anything about that. They’ve criticised my compositions, but that would’ve probably happened even if I’d used the most professional and expensive glass available. I just need to practice more, the professional glass can’t help me with that.
Thanks for sharing that - I've never heard of any quality issues (backed up with evidence) - I mean, look at the crisp crops in this video. That is definitely more than good enough and I do not hesitate to bring it everywhere I go!
Lovely filmed and edited video. Those from OmSystem will be jealous 😅. I guess this must be a nice lens. For now i’m happy with 40-150mm f4, surprisingly sharp, combo with 12-40mm f2.8 and Leica summilux 9mm f1.7 as an amateur photographer I’m ok 👌😎 Greetings from Croatia 🇭🇷
Thank you very much! You have an excellent setup, by the way. I'm also considering the 40-150 f4, I've heard only good things so far! Best, Thomas 📸 Best, Thomas 📸
Nice edit. This was one of the first M. Zuiko lenses I purchased (for amateur birding). The reach for price is unmatched, but I often wish it were a bit brighter.
As my favorite lenses are wide and portrait prime the 75-300 came handy in size and price to just complete my 20l backpack content on the long end. And thanks to amazing MFT it does! It's incredible how close you get to your subject when you need to. And on the E-M1X it feels so perfectly balanced. I really don't miss the PRO status, but I would like some weather sealing and the L-Fn button on it. I'd call it PLUS instead of PRO and I would be ok with a price premium of 100-150 € for this.
Nice video, Thomas! I like very much this lens, bought together the Olympus E-M5 II in 2015. Not my first Olympus camera, but the first of a new era for my passion. This lens followed - and follows - all my trips. Bravo Thomas to underline the characteristics of this lens, even if you talked a lor about blazoned supertelephotos.
Thank you very much! It is quite interesting to read that our experiences regarding this lens are completely in line. It is a lens worth owning, completely agree! Best wishes from Vienna, yours Thomas 📸
I hope to pick up a second hand copy of this tomorrow, should fill the gap between the 40-150 f:4 and the 100-400 quite nicely. The size of the 100-400 don't invite carrying for the off chance of needing a seriously long telephoto on a day to day basis. This one does.
