M1 MacBook Air: Still a fantastic editing laptop! 

This is the kind of work I do, and would have loved a review of the MBA M1 for someone who does the same work and how it'll fair for more years to come.

Two years later the screen still impressed me every single day- a pleasant feature apple could have never conveyed in any commercials. It’s really nice and with the speakers going too.. pinches way above its weight for sure.

@@slashkeanuthe m1 MBA will be fine for office work. I imagine I’ll be using my base happily til close to 2030.. the tech versus my lighter work load means that’s a reasonable expectation I’d say.

are you serious ??...this was just a review ofbad windows overpriced review vs MAC OS...only mentioned macos...ofcourse macos is closed os with limited software ...how can it compete with non arm windows gaming laptop which was defective when bought .... buy a similar priced windows laptop to compare fairly ...vide editing despite loud music was excellent but as mac ecosystem fanboy review against window was so bad...

How many hours do you use approximately in a day and on what kind of task? I'm doing light photo editing, running some business (Words + Excel), watch RU-vid/looping songs, and usually 90% or so lasted for a day or mostly 1.5 days. Wondering are you doing the similar tasks?

Thanks man, I’m really happy to be back making videos again! I really like the look of the M2 MacBook Air. Both laptops are great so really it comes down to preference and price!

I'm thinking of buying the specs of your MBA m1 with 16gb/1tb for me. Would you still recommend this for the end of 2023? I will be using it for video editing work using Adobe Premiere for FB/RU-vid ads. More or less 1-3 layers of footage with captions but no heavy plugins and color correction. I also use Adobe After Effects for animation. What do you think?

@@saltedmaple, oh yes, that will definitely be suitable enough. It'll be the performance equivalent of a multi-core Intel i7 processor, but won't generate as much energy.

@@chuchumanga7948 I went with the base 8/256. This would be too small a config for my main computer. For my modest needs as a 2nd computer it's been great.

On the M1 MacBook Air I just use the standard render settings with the playback resolution set to 1/2.

Finally got the M1 Macbook Air and I gotta say! It's blazing for all I need it to do. I was shocked! This is me coming from a 2012 Intel MacBook Pro.

I’m trying to find a new computer to edit 4k and apple log footage on is this computer good enough to handle that?? I primarily want this to color grade and edit footage. Rendering times don’t matter to me I always have used low quality laptops so this would be a splurge

Yep! Almost everything on this laptop is really solid!

Complicated motion graphics or effects compositing in After Effects can definitely be challenging on the MacBook Air. The same goes for complex timelines in Premiere that involve a lot of demanding footage and or effects.

I would argue 256 GB isn’t “futureproof” since thats not a lot of Storage by todays standards. 512 Gb is.

I never experienced any issues with internet speed or stability when making this video. Everything was always nice and quick, and my connection didn’t drop once.

No isu about wifi for my MBA M1

I just bought this MacBook on July 15, 2023 and I had no issues with my wifi connection. I have a very fast internet connection and haven't noticed any speed issues. Both laptops have no issues with speed whatsoever.

I know him personally in real life and I don’t want to speak for him but if I am not mistaken he started this yt journey because he loves photography and even more so videography and film making. As for the voice, he does this unintentionally I believe(I have no way of proving this but I used to put on a “radio” esc voice too, that you never really think about as the person talking). As for the videos feeling, I don’t think he is trying to gain dozens and dozens of subscribers but genuinely wants to do good reviews for good quality yet cheap in price items because he has always had to live with a budget and his friends (me included) would ask him for advice on what to use because he has been doing editing for years on a budget so we all would go to him for advice if I am not mistaken he would get fairly cheap items and then would see how well they worked and after using them for a while and he actually knew their quality he would make an informed review and is still doing that to this day. He has never been a “showy” kind of guy and from the looks of it he wants to keep his content more information based than showy because there are not many channels out there that do good quality informative reviews to help you with your decision making process. He has been making good quality short films for way longer than I have known him and I think he has more of a passion for the filmography and videography than he does about the reviews themselves (that last part was just a guess but you can kind of tell just by watching his videos, they are beautiful) but he does still know his stuff and is a super fun and amazing guy in person. I try not to alter my voice too much for these videos (I don't want to run the risk of sounding fake lol) what you hear is mainly just a combination of me trying to speak clearly and standing up straight. As for the visual style, the goal is to be a little more relaxed and chill rather than flashy. It's not for everyone but I find myself making the kinds of videos that I want to watch, and I draw a lot of inspiration from channels like DSLR guide and DSLR Video Shooter both of which have videos with a little bit of a slower pace. Either way, I started a RU-vid as a way to grow my skills, and share what I'm learning and doing in my filmmaking journey and it just so happens that some people have chosen come along for the ride with me which I'm incredibly grateful for!

Are you using it for video editing though? Video editing is much more intensive and will see battery drain. I personally use mine for graphic designs, podcasting, research with 15+ tabs, and Spreadsheets and also gets few days worth of use.

Yes! It’s still great value and can easily lastly you several years, especially if you intend to do less intensive task like Spreadsheets, google docs, long emails, watch videos, and light graphic designs.
