M1 Pro 16 really is the sweet spot.

Coming from my first ever 2017 13" MBP, I would have loved to get this latest MBP M1 Pro in the 16" model. My old dual core MBP was not pro at all. It sucked! But finding this latest MBP with 1TB SSD in only the 14" model was right for me. 3 years of AppleCare+ costs less for the 14", too. Another side note: 16GB RAM and still haven't used swap memory. I'm happy.

This laptop is a beast! Thought of getting it so much and finally did the jump. You won’t regret it if you thinking on getting it.

I've used a pc to edit all my life. I was using adobe premiere editing 6k braw. Finally took a gamble on the macbook pro and cant believe its letting me edit 6k and this thing is quiet. Im blown away. Going to to test out protools today.

the 16 " screen is a beast and now I could never go back to the 14". watching youtube on full screen with the amazing sound is so good. initially had problems with the keyboard change from a 2014 but now used to it .

I got the 16 inch M1 pro 16 gb / 1To in space grey and I do not regret any single euro spent on that machine. It is the best computer I've ever had in my hands. Congratulation to Apple to actually delivering, a pushing the whole industry forward. Computing will never be the same ever again.

My experience with MagSafe has been that the magnet is SO strong that the USB-C end pops out when tripped over instead of the magnetic end.

I love this beauty beast, I love the battery, the screen resolution and the performance is top notch. I got M1 Pro with 1 TB 16 inch. The battery is actually more than 4 hours, I worked and I watched Netflix both together around 7 hours and the battery was still 30% left so basically I think it could last around 10 hours!!!🤯. But if you do heavy editing work the battery will last less than 10 hours. I am currently paying around monthly $130 CAD for a year since I traded my MBP 16 i9 2019 and it was the best decision.

Finally upgraded from old Mac Pro....M1 kick ass!

For years I b!tched about the never ending trend towards making laptops and smartphones even thinner and now Apple has listened and reversed that a bit with these new MacBooks and for the first time ever I'm thinking about getting one. It's not just the aesthetic change but also the huge advantage Apple silicon has in mobile applications like phones and laptops. There are Windows based laptops with the highest spec CPU's and GPU's that can compete with these new MacBooks WHEN CONNECTED TO MAINS POWER, but on battery nothing is even in the ballpark. My only gripe is that Apple went with a dpi number for the screen resolution and on the 16 inch they came so close to being a true 4K UHD+ screen but decided to stop short of that. The aspect ratio of 16:10 could have driven a $k UHD+ screen with 3840x2400 resolution but 3456x2234 is not quite there. I mean, they were so close to being able to do a one-for-one mapping of 4K video without any scaling at all.

It’s a beast working with CAD files.

m1 macbook :D I'll be upgrading sometime early next year as I'm primarily a video editor and any time I can save on my workflow, the better :D

I started with the 14" but it felt cramped so I got the 16". But since getting the 16", it feels like it's gotten smaller for some reason. I can't imagine going back to the 14".

Apple has really done a fantastic job with these new Pros.

Actually, the new 16" MBP is in fact thinner than the earlier 15" models. Going by the published dimensions, the mid 2015 15" at 0.71" H is thicker than the new 16" at 0.66". It's an illusion that the older one was thinner. The non-tapered form factor of the new model simply reveals the actual thickness to the eye, which the tapered clam shell design cleverly concealed. It is, however, 0.2 lbs heavier.

I am Windows guy but looking to purchase my first Mac and since I'm in IT, I want to get more exposure with Mac's especially using AWS

Thanks for the video. I have now the chance to get this computer with about 15-18% OFF... I won't have that discount if I'll wait perhaps even just another week, let alone wait for the October announcements. Shoud I get the 16" NOW? Or still wait for the new ones (if they'll be released). I'm actually rocking the M1 Air but with music producer, video editing and the fact I learned to hate external monitors - I think I wanna upgrade.

Would you recommend only the M1 Pro for video editors, or worth getting the M1 Max? Also, would you max out the memory if possible? And stick with the 1TB or upgrade the SSD space too? (only asking as I know a lot of people have just been using external drives.

If you leave stickers on space gray for a long time, it leaves a mark underneath and you cant sell it

Still no USB-A. Could have thrown a couple USB-A ports on there as there are, and will continue to be, tons of USB-A devices around for years to come. It's silly to need a dongle for interfacing with super common devices.

I do think that the 14 inch version is the sweet spot, but if you do not plan to travel much with your laptop, then the 16inch Is perfect

I’m still waiting for mine. 14”/SG/32 core GPU/64 memory/1 TB. I already have the 1TB iCloud and I figured I can buy an external hard drive later (if needed). And my trade in value was only $210. If I had bought the new MB Pro back in Nov, the trade in value would have been $230. But it was time to upgrade my mid-2012 15” first Retina display. The goal is to keep this thing for another 10 years. I’ve been very lucky to avoid all the issues/complaints folks had of the prior MB Pro. Saved money too.

magsafe is back!

First, when i saw that it was on sale for the 14 inch MB pro $1,499.99, I was blown away, then I bought it, after Ive been taking pics and researched that its better on the MB pro 16 inch, so two days later i returned it, and bought the 16 inch MP Pro 1 tb $2,900.00 and i used my amex points so i paid $1,000. Overall this machine is a MONSTER, i was going to wait for the M2 pro but whats the point i wasn't going to lose this opportunity on the $400 off.

The adapter from Apple can be extended with an extra power cable which is also earthed and there's no electrical discharge when you touch the laptop while charging... So, unfortunately, ugreen isn't earthed.

Another interesting fact. When I purchased the the Mid 2015 15" MBP 2.8Ghz,16GB RAM, 1TB SSD, the price was $3199. A 2021 16" M1 Pro 16GB / 1TB sells for $2699. That's $500 LESS for a machine that literally eats the earlier model for breakfast. So all the chatter about Apple's higher prices needs to be put in perspective.

Can i use two different external displays through one usb c port on this macbook as extended displays? I remember on the older macbook Pro you could only run one display...well you could run two but it would mirror the screens and not extend them.

A question: Around the 4:30 mark into the review you discuss the HDMI port only being 2.0 and not 2.1, so only supports up to a 4k 60 resolution (I assume by 60 you mean 60Hz refresh rate?), and will not support the 4k 120 that the 2.1 does. My question is, first, am I understanding what you said correctly, and second, is there a way to go thru one of the Thunderbolt ports, and then maybe use an adaptor, so that a 4k 120 additional screen could be supported, to take advantage of the full 120Hz refresh rate of the laptop? A 2nd question below: A second question: Around the 11 min mark you are discussing the UGreen 100w charger. Why would I want to use that instead of the 140w charger or adaptor (not sure of the difference) that comes with the MacBook Pro 16 with the M1 Pro chip? Based on the youtube reviews I've watched, I'm new to Apple so have begun a learning curve on all this, but based on these reviews they say that using the 140w adaptor I can charge up to 80% on a fast charge. I guess I've just assumed I'd plug that in where ever I was using my laptop, at home or on the go, both to power it so I don't use the battery, and to recharge it, fast when it can, and normal speed the rest. Am I misunderstanding? Other? Thanks so much for the great review, and for your answers/input to all this if you are able to take the time.
