Dude. Stop calling that a huge brick!! That's the smallest brick EVER for a machine of that caliber. Ever own a Lenovo W530 or P50? What about an HP Envy 17? Or an Intel NUC8i7HNK? The TINY brick that comes with the MBP 16 is amazing and a huge differentiator.

The same here, I searched several videos to just find this information, it wonders me, that no one else speaks about it. - I still own a late 2021 MBP and it is quite the same form factor I guess and there I hated those sharp edges too

Biggest reason that I was thrilled about being able to buy a Macbook Air when the M1 chips came out, I always liked the design but I could never deal with the low power that the past Airs always had... That edge does leave marks after hours of work.

The power brick is set up that way because it would require a whole other power supply’s worth of circuitry in there if you want additional ports since you’d expect it to charge multiple devices at multiple voltages. It’s big enough as it is, and I’d you had two different devices, it may not be able to support the laptop at full tilt + the accessory.

Have you seen how small the gallium nitride chargers are out there? Apple should have used that instead of this monstrosity.

@@gersonrendon2188 This IS a GaN charger. This is the most advanced charger in the market as of this movement since it supports power ranges above 100W - PD 3.1 with EPR. Many of the tiny chargers out there skip out on protections and functionality that this charger offers. Not to mention the list of certifications. Bottom line - you are getting functionality AND safety, and there is a price to pay for that, both monetarily and in size.

Thanks for bringing up the edges on the MacBook Pro. With how far the keyboard is pushed back and how thick it is, the edges just cut into your forearms and can actually cause nerve compression with extended use. What looks nice is not always user-friendly.

For what it’s worth, I think the power brick is huge with only one output port is because of the 16” Max High Power mode that’s not available on “lesser” configurations. Also they are apparently very tightly designed to fit the particular power usage of the device it came with.

yes, the edge design has always bothered me on the last few years MBP. That's really a point where the MBA shines, they are more comfortable to work with IMO. I wish you could have a beefed up version of the same MBA design (more ram, mostly).

I’m finally getting my first MacBook (previous windows user). I have an iPad and iPhone but would love a video teaching us new people how to set these up and have them work with the iPad and iPhone. I’m sure it’s second nature to you guys but honestly I’m kind of stressing it. Sorry in advance for the dumb problem 😂

I don’t think there’s too much to stress about really. Once you log into iCloud on your new mac, your laptop, phone and iPad work pretty seamlessly together. Are there specific things you’re worried about, because at a general level, you don’t need to worry, it’s all pretty intuitive.

My biggest concerns are my ext hard drives that have files on them formatted to windows and my iTunes backups also on ext hard drives and formatted to windows. I did buy a new external hard drive which is supposed to be compatible with both so I’m thinking I should move my files to that with my pc first then just plus it into my Mac

Got one of these coming hopefully in a couple of weeks, but the edges don't look any sharper than my current I9 Macbook Pro, and I can't say I've ever noticed any discomfort from the edges. I'm just super looking forward to a keyboard that works.

I'm glad I got my MacBook Air m1 but omg I hope to be able to save enough money to get the Macbook Pro 16 with at least 2 tb of storage and the 64 gb of unified memory. When you really need the power of these machines, you will live with some of the reported minor annoyances. My 16” M1 Max with 64GB of RAM and 2TB SSD arrives Friday. I need ALL of its power for my business and I couldn’t care less about the Notch, how big the power brick is, or the webcam.

Yep they couldve bevelled the edges ever so slightly, just enough so it doesnt cut. Would make the edges tougher to vs impact, less chance of dents and chip offs.

Want to see : 1. The 16 inch has a higher resolution..Could you compare both displays 14 vs 16 side to side on desktop + HDR , any difference ? Either one brighter ? 2. IDK what's up with the country default... I've noticed it starts at the top of the list (Afghanistan, I think?) but if you wait on that screen for a little bit, it will ultimately switch to United States. The weird thing is that it happens before you set up the wifi, so I'm not sure how it figures out where it is... maybe it detects the keyboard layout and makes an assumption based on that?

So I decided to go with the greatest no brainer configuration 16.5" M1 Pro base model for an extra 200$ over the 14" M1 pro base model. Mainly because you get a bigger XDR display and it has more battery life then the MacBook air! Plus I get two extra CPU cores & two extra GPU cores which is a bonus for me. In addition I also upgraded the SSD to 1TB for future proofing. Love your content but respectfully I disagree on your points about including the manual (so much wasted paper for a 100+ page doc that honestly most won’t read) and the 140W Power adapter including another port I think is because the MacBook 16 will draw that much power in “high power mode” so to prevent the possibility of someone using it for two devices and preventing the full current going to the Mac I think is a design decision that stopped them from creating a larger adapter to support multi device, I think they would just as quickly argue using one of the USB-C ports on the desk is “more convenient” instead of reaching for the wall outlet is my guess (I don’t claim to know what they’re thinking just playing devil’s advocate on why they might have not included a second port on the Power Adapter) Still I think you bring up great points throughout the rest of your videos! Thank you for making your content with the common sense lens that many techies forget to remind potential shoppers about :D

While MacOS is not my cup of tea (Debian/Ubuntu my OS of choice), these laptops really set the benchmark in terms of design. The Anandtech review of these processors was very interesting though. Unfortunately the gaming benchmarks were very disappointing.

Snap, I might just end up getting the 16" mainly because I wouldn't have to worry about a desktop. I work from home so there's that debate all the time. I also like that you brought up the jagged edges, that makes a huge difference when your on a laptop all day. I guess one major complaint is no # keypad on such a massive computer, that's VERY annoying for us professionals in real estate. We run numbers all day. The webcam and microphone quality make for a huge improvement for client calls or even just calls with friends and family, can ditch the Logi StreamCam. Thanks for this, good stuff.
