I feel like Mel would be the guy to build your first, and all, of your AK's with. Show up with a bag of charcoal, some meat, a case of beer, and hang out over a weekend and get your hands dirty building an AK!

please excuse my ignorance, what exactly is a m72 galil spiker? like a cross between a yugo m72 and an Israeli galil? also, where did you find the new bolt and carrier? thanks for sharing this build.

Yes, it's just a "mutt" build or gathering of different parts. Wasn't sure what to call it actually. The carrier and bolt were both purchased at 'APEX Gun Parts'.

Mel64D That's a pretty cool idea, the name seems fitting. Apex is awesome, can't beat their variety. Now that you've gone through all of the currently available ak kits, have you though about any other platforms like rpd, dpm, ect?

I would love to do an RPD but all the parts to complete a build are not as plentiful as an AKM. I do have two Cetme "L" kits that I bought like two years ago lol. ...one day...one day.

I love these videos, it’s like Steve Austin teaching people how to build guns. All you need to do is slam 2 Budweiser’s together and get to milling. Keep up the good vids!

What size hole did you drill in the reciever for the stock knuckle roll pin?

This Tortort receiver was made just for this build. I did not put the Galil stock hole in the receiver. Tortort does not do custom receivers. Ben only did this one for me because of the video I made about machining a Tortort 80% receiver...and I did a lot of begging too.

Mel makes this stuff look easy, a sign of a true craftsman. I wish I had the tools and talent to do these builds.
