As someone who has Crohn’s disease, I’m so mortified for Karen regardless of whatever anybody thinks she is guilty of. This disease is embarrassing as hell and normal humans can’t fathom having this kind of illness where you never know if you’re going to essentially have an accident in your pants anywhere you go. For Proctor to make fun of her disease and her body functions is disgraceful. We as disabled people already deal with so much judgement and fear from normal society. Here’s a law enforcement agent treating a chronically ill person like a joke. I pray him or his family never gets a disease like this.
My mom had really bad Crohn’s disease growing up, and it runs in my family, so I completely understand what you’re dealing with and I hope that you’re able to take care of yourself and can keep your pain down ❤️🩹I feel for Karen too, especially also dealing with MS I can only imagine how tough it is to balance while also staying neutral in court. Sending you a big hug ✨🙏🏽
And frankly, substitute any “othering” word for his abominable use of her medical condition ina joking way- sub race, class, place of national origin, mental illness (well he did that too!) The pejoratives have no place in the language used by professionals dedicated to service to the public at the very LEAST. Disgusting, unconscionable and utterly unacceptable.
My girlfriend has crowns and suffers. This so called officer of the law is despicable and his chain of command as well. Just sickening. I think these cops make too much money in this town for the way they act!
Absolutely! Each and every courtroom! It shows when people are innocent, when they are guilty, and the people in authority and how they act, how they REALLY ACT! Remember in the Daybell trial, it was mentioned you can look at a text or an email from someone and see the REAL PERSON! This is a perfect example of the real person behind the text. He’s DISGUSTING.
Undisputed his comments were off the chart unprofessional, rude, juvenile etc…. But the REAL issue - He had closed the case and formed his opinion by 1/29/22, when the first texts were sent to his friends. He did NOT investigate ANYBODY but Karen Read. Based on casual questioning of the other involved parties- ALL of whom he had a personal relationship/connection too. WHY did he hate Karen by the evening of 1/29? He had been fed an earful of personal information by the other “suspects”. How else did he know about her health issues? He literally had to have been told that by big mouth Jen McCabe. They are the MOST disgusting people on the face of the earth.
Exactly!!! there was no investigation here, he decided who was the culprit right from the jump, he didn't even wait for the ME's report. In fact from the text messages it sounds like he was pressuring the ME to give a cause of death that fit his theory of the crime! And now it's starting to be clear to me why we are 22 days into this case and we still haven't heard from the ME. His injuries are not consistent with a vehicle collision and the ME knew it but settled on "undetermined" to appease Proctor
Her testimony made it clear to me that she was up to her eyeballs in all of this. Pulling strings behind the scenes. Manipulating people and the situation.
I listened to a long time prosecutor say that this guy is in huge trouble with the FBI because he lied when they were questioning him about this case. All the recovered texts came from the feds recovering them.
Oh he definetly feels shame. With all the ball busting I imagine going on with his co workers. Nevermind his friend's and family looking at him differently now
I hope this wakes up the general public to extreme corruption that runs thru policing as a whole. There are numerous different agencies taking part in various aspects of this investigation/trial, and none of them have been shown to be forthright or transparent or even decent people. It's disgusting.
How can the judge be mad about the calendar when she's the one who decided to fill 7-8 weeks with half-days and days off. If she'd been willing to prioritize the expedition of this case from the jump, we would have arrived at Proctor's testimony 3 weeks ago latest.
I'm baffled he expects us all to believe he has no integrity until he may have done something punishable - then suddenly, wow, how dare we question his integrity?!
As a cop myself, I’m horrified at what Proctor was saying behind the scenes. You hear about the bad cops who managed to slip through the cracks and this is exactly what we are talking about. He has no business being in a position of authority! He has violated his oath and ripped the public trust to shreds. Absolutely disgusting behavior.
I’m a forensic psychologist. I hear police and prison employees speaking the same way every single day, have done for over 35 years. If you didn’t join in or at least turn a blind eye, you would have been ostracised and picked on. They are talking about a woman who they think killed a fellow officer. Their language is rude and crude but I’ve heard worse. I’ve yet to see an angelic police officer.
Well he’s got three others on this thread who are reading his compromised investigation and two are his superiors- sooo it’s not too late to at least send him to training or demote him. And they “liked” it.
So the judge is upset this trial is taking too long, but she hasn’t reeled in the prosecution the ENTIRE time for asking pointless questions?! This is on her for letting Lally drone on about high school games and every experts detailed certification processes.
The prosecutor had to go through the tedious process of admitting evidence according to the rules because the defense refused to consent to admit obviously relevant admissible evidence
@bethmccrae2714 but we didn't actually need everyone who has ever been to the waterfall bar to confirm that it was snowing. Like. They could have established that with 2 witnesses instead of 20.
@@bethmccrae2714I understand the tediousness of admitting evidence… I am not referring to that. I am referring to his questioning of a bunch of irrelevant witnesses or irrelevant aspects of their lives. Like who cares who won the game your daughter played..? All the cases I’ve watched with capable prosecutors, they get to the point and ask only what is important to give the jury an understanding of the experience of experts and information surrounding the case. It is a waste of time. As a juror I would be annoyed af.
Today's court demonstrated what I've been thinking since the first week. We are dealing with the bitchy mean clique from high school that never grew up. They think they can do whatever they want. I hope Karen gets a multi-million dollar lifetime movie deal and they all get jail time.
@@kaitlin4u She never cheated, none of the messages said that happened. Based on all the events, we know he probably cherry-picked messages to paint a picture so it makes her look like a cheater
@@nicci337 lol just because they didn’t have sex doesn’t mean she’s not a cheater 😂 You can say those messages are cherry picked all you want but they proved she’s a crappy person.
She is infuriating this so called "Judge" !!! She acts like the Defence are a huge inconvenience to her. If she is concerned about the trial finishing end of June, have court 5 days a week !! She is so rude with her sighing & carry-on
I said the same thing in the beginning of the trial, I've never seen anything like this judge before. How is this even ok ? Like I'm absolutely shocked how biased she comes off. She literally has an attitude about the defense arguing there case. Like everyone said.....she should have court 5 days a week. This is so aggravating
Every day in court, I think about John O'Keefe's family but never more than today. How hard must it have been to hear a police officer as despicable at not only his job but as a human being as Trooper Proctor?
@@KelGG-u2s- When people are vulnerable and grieving they are easily manipulated. From what I’ve heard the McCabe/Albert families started a fundraiser or something in John’s name. It was on behalf of his mom. You also have to remember that their granddaughter and grandson are around the same age as the McCabe children. I’m pretty sure Jen McCabe was their granddaughter’s basketball coach.
No way is this guy actually trying to tell us that reading KR and her lawyers texts was the moral line he wasn't willing to cross... after all the most vile filth with his colleagues of all people!
Right, he never mentioned THAT in his text messages. Seems like the most important finding since allegedly he wasn't able to look at anything else. Even if he was joking about the nudes, I don't believe he has that strict kind of integrity in one area and none whatsoever in another. And what's so funny about investigating a fellow officer's murder?
@pitbullcrew271 nope! He said himself they couldn't prove that she hit him OR if it was intentional or not. THEN he magically finds the shards that took us from minor damage to significant damage. Side eye!
Karen’s legal team is one of the best I’ve seen since Depp. They’re so fired up for her and I fucking love it. In contrast with the rust trial, I didn’t see Hannah’s lawyer have even a smidgen of this fire!
If I were (scarily) ever wrongfully convicted, I pray I could afford to hire these incredibly professional, determined, passionate lawyers of Jackson & Yanetti. Every dependent deserves a defense attorney that fights in the ways for their client!👏
Proctor isn't sorry, only sorry he got caught . Did he once look at Karen and apologize? nope. I don't understand how the Feds have not arrested him already.
Proctor is not ashamed, he's got a sad because he's no longer in the shadows. Hearing about his behavior there may not be much, but whatever good this man has done throughout his career has been wiped in one day. I hope he is held accountable.
@@Ieezeca How many women has he deemed less than, then coerce into silence, to acquiesce? The words her used to demean her while simultaneously s e x ualizing her were so grotesque and very telling.
The judge reminds me of an employee at customer service who treats you like you are inconveniencing them making them do their job. Or they hate their job and irrationally, you are to blame. The "sighing!"
Exactly. He regrets they didn't stay private, he doesnt regret saying them. I hope the FBI holds him accountable because his buddies of the Common Wealth sure aren't going to.
The fact that he said "c-u-n-t" says it all. He's not willing to wear his own conduct - he will not be honest about it, he is not sorry. Just inconvenienced.
Also want to point out, her standard for asking people to speak up is "I'm going to ask you to speak a bit louder so all of the jury can hear you. Even those in the back. Thank you" With Proctor it's just "Speak up!" Based on her demeanor, the Judge might heavily dislike the defense, but her disgust and loathing for Proctor seems to overrule it completely.
I can’t believe Trooper Proctor is trying to convince everyone he’s unbiased after reading his vile texts and that he’d decided immediately that she was guilty.
I am the kid of a cop..trust me, if he text that to childhood friends, JUST IMAGINE WHAT HE SAID TO HIS COP FRIENDS!!!! This is the kind of cop that should be fired immediately 🤬🤬🤬🤬
I don't see how any juror can definitively say "yes, she is guilty" after hearing the texts from the lead investigator. It casts so much doubt on the integrity of the investigation. Couple that with the fact the taillight was more intact at around 5am that morning while searching for JO than after the vehicle was seized by Proctor... it's not looking good for the prosecution.
I have been screaming at the video that the taillight was intact before police custody. The cops had to break it and salt the crime scene. If I were a juror that ring video would seal the deal for me.
I wonder about any other people he has put in jail. If this is the mentality of this police department every single conviction needs to be reinvestigated in my opinion. Very sad times for the citizens in Canton.
I don’t think it’s ever looked good for prosecution, it feels like they are running out the clock. Lally may have thought he had a case but it almost feels like he doesn’t even believe his witnesses anymore.
I read on X where the jurors viscerally reacted to these text messages. They were shaking their head, putting their hand over their mouth, and several of the women were visually outraged. Calling Proctor couldn’t come at a better time, following them putting in a shady video. I just can’t believe Lally is an experienced prosecutor!
As a juror I would be SHOCKED at the language used by an officer in a death investigation. I would not be able to control my response, because I would be in shock!
@@brandonwestfall3241exactly you're correct. The reactions they're having is because of the witnesses presented before them. Absolutely understandable. Lol
They didn't want to have to have him testify. They were desperately trying to avoid it. But all Lally's attempts at trying to establish the foundation for the vast majority of their "evidence" through other witnesses failed, so they were stuck having to call Proctor or most of their "evidence" would have been excluded and the jury wouldn't have been able to consider any of it. Calling Proctor was pretty much unavoidable at that point or they would have no case at all outside of a completely unbelievable Jen McCabe claiming that Karen essentially confessed.
Lawyers: We need more time, give us continuance. Judge: Nope. Also the Judge: Why are you so unprepared? Judge: I promised the jury we are done by this day, we are out of time! Lally: What if anything sort of as far as to the snow and beer did you observe without exhausting your memory. Judge: Defense we now have to spend A DAY to void-ire your witnesses!! It’s on YOU! Shrug
Exactly!! I hate that the judge makes it seems like it’s the defense fault the trial is running long when it’s 80% on Lally and his repetitive and useless questions!! Ughhhh
Lally has interviewed every human that lives in Canton. We know each of their kids, with their names, ages, schools and sports team. We also know everybody’s favorite drink and what car they drive and even professions they don’t practice anymore.
@@Aliesha.MedleyCracked taillight - with a sliver missing like there would be based on the testimony of Officer Barros, Kerrie & Jen. I don’t have anyone to chat with about it or hear other perspectives so I feel like I found my pack here on your channel. You are so intelligent and well spoken and I love the cussy words too 😊Thank you for your clear and concise recaps and creating this amazing space.
Proctor is, as a person, absolutely appaling. He describes his behaviour as 'unprofessional and juvenile'. That doesnt even begin to cover it. His behaviour is nothing less than despicable and horrendious. I am mortified by this behaviour coming from a cop! He should be ashamed of himself. If I was his wife, sister, daughter or friend - I would be so disgusted by him, that I would turn my back, no questions asked. To be berating a woman in that way😳 I have no doubt that if he had find a nude he definately would have shared it with his fellow Troopers. Disgusting, just disgusting.
I’m glad you have seen this, as unfortunately painful it is to watch. I’ve been trying to tell people in my life, for years, about the deplorable behavior in law enforcement. I was married to a cop and this was standard behavior and even worse. I’ve always received pushback that what I saw wasn’t true. IT WAS, IT IS…and I’m sad at the state of affairs.
@@CocoW1968 there was a cop who wanted me to date him at one point. Never in a million years would I date someone with that much power and that little accountability. My ex-husband was army and that was bad enough.
@CocoW1968 -- AGRRED!! When I was 19 I worked as a bartender in South Florida and a cop always parked on my route home and would stop me to have a chat at 3 or 4 in the morning as I rode my bike past. I started out thinking I was SAFER having him there, but that quickly turned when he asked me to meet him for a drink. In my naivety I did and he bragged about pepper spraying kids... I excused myself from the table and walked home and never spoke to him again. In my 20's I dated a "Christian" Navy SEAL (sniper), against my better judgement, and the abuse - physical and emotional - the controlling behavior, entrapment, and DISTURBINGLY SICK things I discovered he AND HIS ENTIRE SEAL TEAM did with underage girls (& photographed) on each and every deployment was APPALLING. He stole nearly all my belongings, all my money, kicked me out on the curb with nothing except the clothes on my back & threatened to kill me, or have one of his team do it, if I ever reported him, because they were trained killers and were good at making people disappear. He said my family would never find me. I've never looked at cops or military the same way again.
@@stellaallbright4750 I am so sorry to hear that you have suffered so much. You are not alone. My ex-husband and his coworkers were horrific. It was small town New England, and if you were in the policing community, you could get away with pretty much anything. Just watching this back on replay .....this is the first day I have been really annoyed with this judge! She is so rude and disrespectful to the defense, seemingly bias. She sure snaps at them about wasting time but hasn't said ONE thing to the prosecutor for ALL the time hes wasted and made us pull our hair out in confusion and boredom! I've tried to stay neutral with her but she lacks decorum in her own court.
My husband and I have been discussing taking our teens to Boston for fall break this year. I went to Boston as a 17 yr old on a school trip and greatly enjoyed the history there. But after this trial, we are saying with only a small touch of sarcasm “Do we really want to travel to the area, knowing these people are investigating if something happens to us there?!?” The corruption and ineptitude seems to be so pervasive that I am embarrassed for them! I’m sure this type of thing unfortunately happens all over, but my goodness I’d hate to be a nice law-abiding citizen in this area… I’d be nervous with Canton, Boston, OR the State Troopers in charge! It just seems that everyone from the small towns to statewide and from the newest troopers to the veteran supervisors are all this way. Unbelievable.
This group of LEOs is both despicable and disgusting. They had KR targeted as the only suspect, and they are like high school kids in their texts…it’s a disgrace! Any department that claims ANY of these officers in the text threads as honorable is a department their citizens should be ashamed of…entirely! Sickening!
My son and his friends knew better than to behave like that way before high school! I am just disgusted at how these “professionals” are acting and sad that there are still people like them being covered up for in our justice system. I hope the federal investigation makes their findings VERY public!
As a gay man just trying to get by in life, I’m terrified of men like Proctor. I bet he was the stereotypical bully in high school making all the gays afraid to even go to school.

Whether KR is guilty or not guilty, having to listen to Proctor’s testimony about searching for nudes on KR’s phone with his colleagues and the words he used is sickening to me. He should be fired!
Attacking her medical condition made me sick to my stomach. I have one. It’s hard enough to have the condition, let alone be treated like this. These are LOW BLOWS by a tiny little man. He’s only sorry that he was caught. Not sorry for what he said. It’s clearly a habit. May he face the consequences of his actions.

@@StephanieSlaughters I know! I found myself so tensed up my stomach in knots. If Karen was my daughter I’d be in tears. It’s vile and scary to think of the power and authority these men have.
If it turned out that Karen Reed's light was cracked, and one of the other officers - say, Proctor-- *helped* it break into smaller pieces, that would make sense to me. I feel like so much of this also does go down to Jen McCabe. If I were a juror, there is no way I could vote guilty on this trial because it was such a cock up. I have no idea if Read did it. But I do *know* that the investigation was a disaster-- I don't see how that's going to change.
The video of her leaving to look for John and the police taking it I believe disproves the picture we see in court even if I was to believe that John was hit that night I don't go Karen did it with the evidence we get up to this point This is also with looking at the evidence in small parts outside the whole picture that there are 10, 20 different things that get me to not guilty just with a single piece of evidence
Your comment on Lally telling his bosses no and being forced to do it anyway, is exactly what I felt a whole back. I wonder what the black books had on the DA, if anything, or if it was just them all wanting to keep the brotherhood clear. It’s a complete nightmare, imagine if none of this came out and they got away with doing this to her and nobody knew any of this!
Too bad Trooper Proctor didn't re-home his phone like the others. I believe the others (McCabes, Albert's and Higgins) forgot to tell him what to do. They hung him out to dry all by himself. If I were him, I'd go to the Feds and ask for a deal.
Proctor never expected to have the tables turned on him with his own phone being searched. Up until now he has clearly had the “I AM the law” mindset and felt untouchable. I think Higgins misusing FBI resources is what blew this case up wide open and allowed the Feds to come in and expose all the f***ery. I haven’t finished this video yet, but Lally mentioned the texts were from his iCloud data, so I wonder if his phone WAS rehomed.
Between not bothering to investigate anyone or anything else and the complete lack of chain of custody (because no one has testified to any evidence preservation at all) as a juror I’m already skeptical. After this disgusting testimony I don’t think you win me back without video of her running him over, getting out, looking at him, and backing over him once more for good measure.
I have been wondering for at least 4 weeks if Lally is purposely trying to get a Not Guilty verdict because he doesn't believe in the case but was forced to take it.
I can see that being a possibility. He shouldn’t have taken the case to trial if he didn’t believe in it. Makes the whole DAs ethics look questionable.
Go back and watch the pre-trial motions. Lally definitely isn't trying to throw this or just run out the clock. He has been fully invested in this case all the way through. He even tried to get the exculpatory evidence provided to the defence by the FBI thrown out!
Replay Crew: just as an fyi, THIS JUDGE is the one who decided the expert witnesses would be voir dire of these witnesses. She made the decision to do so in the Motion in Lemonade held the Friday before jury selection began! This is ALL on her! Also, if you read the common wealth’s motion they filed last week to exclude these expert witnesses, Ms. McLaughlin cites case law that was overturned on appeal! Additionally, Ms. mcLaughlin basically contends she does not understand the experts, which frankly is a common wealth problem. Let us not forget that the inverted video ADA Lally used to mislead the jury, by not disclosing it was inverted, was gotten about 2 weeks ago and NOT given to the defense at all. Which is why the defense objected and this Judge allowed in over that objection. Rule 14 cuts both ways. So yeah all the F*ckery first thing this Monday morning is inflicted on the common wealth by the common wealth.
So...why was KR's SUV NOT photographed at her home prior to towing, and upon arrival at the police station? Showing us a video/picture of a broken tail light after the police had been in posession of the vehicle (for How Long?) is useless.

The jury isn't seeing a lot of that so I wonder if they're picking it up. It's all in the record though and I have to wonder if she'll go far enough to give grounds for appeal should it come to that. Neither do I. What a shit show and this goes on ALL over the country and it’s about time that citizens wake up and take back the power we gave these institutions because ENOUGH IS ENOUGH. Look around the country at court proceedings. I am just so disgusted honestly
I noticed how red Proctors ears got when Jackson was cross examining him. Whether you think Karen is guilty or not, you have to admit Jackson was making extremely good points. I don't care if you think Proctors texts were jokes or not. They were severly crossing the line and showed that he wasn't unbiased and objective. I would be surprised if he still has a job after Jackson is done with him. If this is how lead investigators are allowed to talk about the person they are investigating, then I question all of the cases they investigated. The lead investigator sets the tone for the case, and Proctor is setting a horrible one.

I would be surprised if any woman on the jury will recover from those texts and IMO this case will never be solved because of Proctor and friends. Even if there is no conspiracy as suggested by the defense, heck even if she did it, the bias shown here is just wild and compounded with the conflict of interest re his sister/the Alberts plus the incompetent handling of evidence there is just no way there can be a conviction. I had started to think she was setting her bias aside as the trial went on. That she maybe wasn't as bias as she seemed early in trial. The way she handled that whole motion was gross.
@@hnraj9441and he is not the only one that used strong words, the prosecutor even accused them of doing it with malice. They had the audacity to make that accusation after they showed a reversed video, but she didn’t interrupted her. I can’t stand her.
Thank you, Emily, for the great coverage and explanations. I love that you get outraged, it spares me from having to spend the energy on it because I know you and fellow law nerds got the audacity display covered!!! I just come to comments and like, like, like. It's an energy saver and time saver!
I can't say enough bad about Proctor! I cried for Karen this entire day! 😭😭💖💖🙏🙏 Wish I could do something to mske it not so horrific for her! She is so courageous & strong.💞💞💞
The incompetence and tyranny of LEO in this case - holy hell. Before the trial started I didn't think it would piss me off like this. I am not convinced the corruption will be punished. After 2020, all over America, lots of good cops have been leaving, and the shit heads are running rampant.
Absolutely agree. I know of some good LE, but the appeal of power and brotherhood and authority can really lead to some thinking they know everything. I have relatives who presented as this before they were military or LE and it only got worse after, with the vocab especially! The trial I was a juror for was basically only a trial because an officer added his own understanding or language to a stay away order and days after arrested the defendant. After all the argument from both sides, we just wanted to see the document to see the specific language of it, which didn't specify distance at all. So we decided the defendant did her best to stay away from the other individual at an outdoor public event, where they couldn't Even see each other, or was this person telling that person they were there. So if that officer had said, hmm, let me see the order, yeah, doesn't specify distance -problem with the order so it's up to whomever what "stay away" means. (My favorite part was when the prosecutor in his closing arguments, slipped and Said defendant stayed away. Like yeah, she did stay away. Thanks for confirming what the evidence showed!). But instead he listened to what one person said the order said, or has his own ideas and stuck with that.
I said it before and I’ll say it again - if KR is found guilty this case is ripe for appeal because of this judge and the judge’s rulings in my opinion.
If KR is found guilty then someone needs to investigate the jury and find out who is actually on the jury and who got to them. There has been reasonable doubt from day 1 in this trial and each day has brought more and more of it.
5:43:33 I cannot get over him saying he wouldn’t share anything specific with family or friends. A complete lie on the stand after he just proved he did. He shared with friends in a group text and he can’t even tell who all was in the group text now. What a scum bag.
