I was a drug addict living with my dad when I first heard this song. To say this song had an impact on my life would be an understatement. I felt like Mac was speaking directly to me. That's why his death fucked me up so much. I had a plan that in 5-10 years, I'd be able to thank Mac in person for helping me through my addiction, but now I know that won't happen. The only way I can thank him now is through appreciating his music. Thank you Jon, for all the work and videos you've made on Mac. And RIP to the one and only Mac Miller. ☯️

When I was in middle school Mac used to do vlogs before they were even called vlogs. I remember when he posted the video announcing he was MAYBE going to release K.I.D.S. Mac is one of my all time favorites, if not the one. I relate to everything he says. My close friend that helped me thru an overdose sent me the article the morning he died. I couldn’t believe it. I beat my battle, I survived, and he didn’t. Every time I hear his music now I feel like he’s speaking directly from my soul.

I never realized how good and poetic Kendrick’s verse was bc I would always just vibe out to this song as a kid instead of listening to the lyrics, that verse was insane

When it comes to the “Penny” references. Mac’s lyrical ability was OUT of this world. Spend a bunch of money kind of stings the satisfaction… “Fell asleep in Hollywood, woke up in Manhattan Ballin' like I'm Jordan, but I'm fresh as Mars Blackmon” So we have Manhattan, Jordan, and Mars Blackman(spike lee)...next line is “A Penny for your thoughts” “Penny” = PENNY HARDAWAY and money
