It's crazy to think that he wrote this when he was alive because it just sounds like he wrote this and sent this from the other side.

He was so self aware of his situation, such a great soul... hard not to tear up listening to this song

I hope everyone takes in the symbolism in the video, and all the Easter eggs. From Mac driving a G-Wagon (car he crashed before he passed) but not being in the driver's seat and being in the rearview mirror ( from objects in the mirror.) To Ralphie (his dog that passed away) being in the passenger seat, traveling the universe together. From his little Scuba dude icon now floating in the universe when he used to be underwater (back to earth.) His mother and the production team behind the video did him proud. His legacy is in good hands with his mother steering the ship.

I'm a 52 year old black man who is a mac Miller fan and this song made me cry with happiness and sadness at the same damn time. R.i.p. easy mac.

This song gave me closure. Knowing Mac was aware of his situation and was accepting of it. Gave me the acceptance of his death.

I think a lot of people are missing the message from the hook. “Good news is all they wanna hear, they don’t like it when I’m down”. People liked talking to him about the accomplishments and great things, but didn’t want to hear about things he was struggling with. Then “when I’m flying it makes them so uncomfortable”... they had things to say about disliking his substance use. He was only using because he felt like he didn’t have anyone to help him through his struggles, and so he coped.

On the intro track of swimming “Come back to earth” Mac says “i just need a way out of my head” and in this track “Good news” he says “i spend the whole day in my head, doing a lil spring cleanin” Creating the contrast that instead of Swimming He drowned fighting his own demons or got stuck while doing it implying the narative coming with this second album that Mac was “Swimming in Circles”.

It's like he wrote his own eulogy in this track. You feel it in the heart for sure.

They put so much thought in this video and it is just perfect.

I think Mac was a hard-core empath, and just didn’t know how to deal with it. It’s so obvious, his spirit has always just glowed. I understand and hear his struggles because I know them all too well. Beautiful human that we were so lucky to have, even if it was too short for us.

I cry everytime I hear this song Mac had just become my favourite artist like 2 years prior to his death and it fucked me up I went deep into addiction etc. I always think mac wouldnt want me to be sad or on drugs and smile for him. I haven't heard anyone discuss the last set of lyrics, so this is just my thought. He had so much more waiting for him, just not on the other side. His first round of his outro he says "there's a whole lot more for me waiting on the other side" and he's always wondering if it feels like summer, but the second iteration he follows by saying "there's a whole lot more for me waiting", he leaves out the "on the other side" part, and adds that he'll get there some other time and he'll finally discover "that there's a whole lot more for me waiting". He doesn't repeat the "on the other side" part. That sounds like healing to me. This is what I think when people say it's a sad song. It is undoubtedly sad, but I don't think he wrote it with sadness in mind. It's a moving-on from darker times song. A light at the end of the tunnel. Rest easy.
