I’m not a McDonalds fan but these ads are very entertaining. My favorite ones are the ones without the backing vocals at 2:34, 6:29 and 6:59. Sounds better with just Mac singing.

I was about 8 years old when this commercial first dropped. Mac is the coolest character I saw as a kid and Roger Behr has one of the sweetest voices I've ever heard. I can't seem to find any musical performances by him, it seems he was all comedy. What an amazing voice. I also like the original by Bobby Darin, Mack the Knife, one of my favorite songs as well. I wish McDonalds would bring Mac back.

When I was a kid and saw this commercial back in the 80's it always came on at night. I think it was for grownups not kids so much. Mostly came on during Cheers and Moon Lighting.

I was this moon character for Halloween one year… probably when the commercial came out. My dad made a sliver moon out of cardboard that my head could fit inside and spray painted the outside white. I loved this commercial when it came out for some reason.

Despite hating corporations, I find myself becoming very fond for certain mascots. Pepsiman, The Noid, Jelly Belly Man, and Mac Tonight. I think advertising is all about catching as many peoples eyes as possible, and because of that designers are kinda forced to create the most distinct and interesting characters.

The clock tower commercial in this compilation came directly from the advertising agency that created the Mac Tonight campaign, thus why it’s in good quality. Sadly I only have two commercials in this sort of quality, hopefully more good-quality versions of commercials surface soon!

@@coincollectingwitherik I believe you're right. They could negotiate something now, but I'm sure McDonald's has long moved on from this campaign. The time to do so would have been when it was big. Ironically, in the 1980s to 1990s, one could hear Darrin's Mack the Knife (and a couple other select songs) on fairly regular rotation, at least on a couple stations. I still listen to a lot of radio, and haven't heard it for over a decade.
