19:50 Here's a translation of the lyrics of the French version (it's a parody of a famous French-Canadian song called "Frédéric") I don't give a damn about the whole world The Milky Way and the rest What I love is my Macdo Mister Sun can go to bed. What I like Big Mac, Big Fries A little tour under the arches In the "melight"! I don't give a damn about what time it is About hockey, the TV When the arches shine in the evening You know where to find me. I love MacDonald's!
Australian laws at the time disallowed use of any components from foreign commercials, so McDonald’s Australia were forced to re-create the entire commercial from scratch.
Lyrics for Singapore Comeback: All day and All Night, Step out for a Bite, Mmm, for Treats and Delight, "24 Hours a Day." Come down to Mac Tonight, Hey! *Plays Saxaphone* "Chill out, Singapore McDonald's is 24 Hours!" Come down to Maaac Toonight! "24 Hours 'Round the Clock!" Come on down to Mac Tonight! For Doordash: All day and All Night, Step out for a Bite, For Treats and Delight, "24 Hours a Day." Come down to Mac Tonight, Hey! *Plays Saxaphone* "We also deliver 24/7!" 24 Hours!?" Mac Tonight!
It's actually very interesting on how Mac Tonight was supposed to be used to attract adults to eat at McDonald's and yet he wound up being used in commercials for kids eventually. He must have become more popular than Ronald McDonald indeed.
I saw him (MacTonight) once. It was in the woods one night in 2003. He had many technological instruments he was focused on at the time but when he saw me, he raised his lips to his mouth in the classic "shoosh" poise and he floated away with his piano. I found several of the instruments broken in the same spot days later. They seemed to be made of composite cardboard and thin layers of copper/other metals. I don't know what they were for.
I love this moon man so much! I definitely wasn't around when he was out, sadly, but goddamn he IS wayyy cooler than Ronald McDonald! Also isn't his song legit just Mac The Knife by Bobby Darwin??
I don't care about the whole world About the Milky Way or the rest Me, what I like Is my McDonald's Mr. Sun can set What pleases me Is a Big Mac A large fry A little walk beneath the arches In the light of me* I don't care what time it is About hockey About TV When, in the evening, the arches shine You know where to find me Me, I like McDonald's * « au clair de moi » is a pun on the song « au clair de la lune », so he's basically saying he wants to walk in his own moonlight
Awesome! I knew they had one made for Quebec but didn’t know they had this! I wonder if they ever made a Canadian version of the McDonald’s breakfast commercial where he starts singing it’s a beautiful morning at the end of the
I want him back, I would even pay for him to do a concert, even as s virtual singer with projectors. Forget the bad memes, and the suing, he deserves his second chance
I honestly think this is a decent rendition, at least better than not having it at all I even wonder if he was voiced by the same guy cuz he sounds similar
What I like about these commercials is that they used some of the alternate scenes that were cut out of the English versions! We get to see the extras. It makes me wonder if there are even more unseen takes of Mac tonight that we haven’t even seen yet
Exactly! The Quebec and Australian versions of the Mac Tonight ads seem to do this very often. Though, even other foreign ads change things up a bit (Japan, English-speaking Canada, etc). Just last week, Canadian Clock Tower was found, which had an entire second of previously unseen footage (wow!!). Hope that more are found.
