We dive into the key differences between the Porsche Macan 95B.1 (15-18) and the 95B.2 (19+). We also go over the compatibility of parts between the two and highlight some key areas Macan owners enjoy modifying.
The Older model with the 3.6litre has a Porsche pedigree motor related to the 4.8litre V8 motor out of Stuttgart and the Cayenne 958.1. The New Macan has a lower quality Audi engine.
Great Video idea!!! I am also going to subscribe and ask that anyone whom watches this video, or any of your( Flat 6 Motorsports ) videos, do so. Why? because I have yet to see any company come into the Comment section and answer questions and be personable overall. Definitely speaks volume. Thank You!!!
I have always wondered what changes they did in the 40hp 2017 performance package upgrade, was it hardware changes like turbos and intercoolers or was it strictly ECU map increasing boost ?
Any way to: 1) retrofit the newer headlights *without* headlight washers in the corner onto the first gen? I feel the fully rounded design of the face-lifted headlights is what streamlines the look of the front. 2) retrofit a higher res reverse camera onto the first gen?
I'm sure anything is possible but it might be difficult with certain modules not taking the coding. The electronics are pretty complicated where it might be more involved than just swapping them out.
In terms of performance and sound, is a high flow DP or secondary-cat DP better to swap out with the OEM DP? How does it affect warranty? In addition, do you know if it is possible to retrofit the Cayenne brakes (the ones that are like a middle point between stock iron rotors and ceramic brakes)? 971 Panamera S owner...
The .1 requires removing the engine so it's not a very feasible thing for most. There are no secondary cats on these. I don't believe Cayenne brakes will work as the hubs are unique and carried over from Audi.
I hear a ticking sound around 1000rpm on my 2015 macan s. I have read that it may be normal and it might be the direct cylinder fuel injector or the waste gas valve. Any assistance would be helpful please and thank you!
You mentioned the electronic exhaust valve actuator disconnect. Is it possible to keep the valve open all the time. I imagine it is open at startup and that is why it sounds great for the first 30 seconds or so. Can you explain the operation of the valve, what and when open and closed. Many thanks. Afraid to change exhaust and get pulled over by EPA. I know on my BMW 330 E46 the exhaust valve in rear outlet opens via a vacuume connection controlled by the amount of pedal applied. You could also disconnect and block the vacume hose and the valve would stay open. This was called the golf T solution. Many thanks
Yes, you can pull the actuator and manually open or close it (you can keep it in either orientation). We had a client who just kept it open because he preferred the sound of it always being opened.
@@Flat6Motorsports Would I be able to purchase this from your website ? I have a 2015 Porsche Macan S and the lights have been damaged from heat, so I’m looking to replace it with that if that fits it
If my goal is 500whp or as close as possible would it be better to get the turbo 3.6 and upgrade the turbos or save the money and opt for the 3.0 motor and upgrade those turbos??! Thanks for the help guys
@@Flat6Motorsports that’s plenty surprised the 3.0 puts out more power looks like it’s probably better to save the money and get a 3.0 over the turbo 3.6 than!!! Upgraded turbos, Down pipes, CAI should net me mid 400whp not bad!!
My 2021 GTS is so much louder than the 2017 GTS I had prior. The engine bay looks cheaper, because of all the exposed components on the new one, and the headlamps of the first generation seemed better than this new gen. They no longer have the wide beam pattern that narrows at 37 mph or whatever, and the heated headlight wash jets can't be optioned at all on the new gen. AND my RaceChip GTS black edition or whatever from my old Macan doesn't work for the new one. Ughhhhh But I can't wait to get one of your rear hatch mods so it can be closed with the fob and all that stuff.
Can you tell a difference? i drove a 2020 with the 2.9 and cant tell difference in speed from a 2017 gts with the 3.0 was the back up camera crap on the first gen and is the 2021 camera any better? lol
Flat 6 Motorsports John, so re-watching this video; Cobb Just came out with the Accessport tune for the B9 S4/S5/SQ5. Have you reached out to them? and/or, do you now offer their tunes on the 95B.2?
Yes, we do. At the time of recording this video they had not released an Accessport: flat6motorsports.com/collections/macan-ecu/products/cobb-tuning-access-port-v3-macan-95b-2
What have they done to fix the leaking timing cover that dealers charge $8,000 to fix. Also, I understand the PDK trans cannot be repaired; Porsche only will replace…. $20,000. I won’t buy a Macan.
The leaking timing cover issue is only related to the 95B.1, we have a $37 solution to address that: flat6motorsports.com/products/flat-6-motorsports-leaking-timing-cover-solution-macan
