God how I love this scene. This is the genius of Verdi, there's murder and mayhem going on, yet this closing aria is so glorious it can bring tears to your eyes while Abbado pours his heart and soul into the score and Verrett's voice soars majestically above the orchestra and chorus.
This is my favorite opera. The timeless lyric beauty of the melodic lines are so very glorious. The drama from Shakespeare emboldens the inventiveness of the melodic, and rich harmonic elements. Maestro Abbado is a master craftsman here.
@@divox9pqr Mine too, maybe with Don Carlo in a different way. So inventiv, theatrical, dazzling, unique, mysterious, grandiose. And obviously Abbado always has a sense of the right balance, never heavy, with a sense of feline acceleration during certain passages, inspiring his performers.
Abbado semplicemente grandioso e inarrivabile. Strehler geniale, nel pieno rispetto dell'estetica verdiana. Solisti condotti a dare il meglio di sé. Allestimento giustamente entrato nel mito.
Verdi never ceases to amaze me, and this opera takes his expressiveness into new realms. So thanks for this dramatic gem, so brilliantly portrayed by these gifted artists, creators in their own right and going so far beyond singing the notes, as to invest deep meaning into this already meaningful and magnificent work. Blessings to you all, esp those of you who've moved on to the music of the spheres!
Perfino questa rappresentazione in formato 'registrato', sarebbe stata preferibile all'edizione di quest'anno! Che delusione, che tristezza, peggio di un'offesa al pubblico pudore.
Macduff: (agitatissimo) Orrore! orrore! orrore! BANCO: Che avvenne mai? Macduff: (affannoso) Là dentro Contemplate voi stesso... io dir nol posso! (Banco entra precipitoso nella stanza del Re) Correte!... olà!... Tutti accorrete! tutti! Oh delitto! oh delitto! oh tradimento!
Shirley Verret Lover It is a nice idea, keep on. Some are also making videos with the score under...Let the other do it. This is not my stuff. In general I have the score at home and "L'avant scène Opéra" with the libretto and its translation and musical comments for many operas I love.
sig.re (!!!) riccardo muti >>> inchinati davanti al maestro Claudio Abbado al quale tu NON sei degno nemmeno di allacciare i lacciuoli dei suoi calzari ......
