OTA updates were not working for me for this recall, so I had to visit the dealer. While I was there I got the HVAC module TSB completed for the 2001 Mach E.

High voltage battery junction box coming for my car......

You'll have to update how things are after getting the 6.5.0 HVAC update that addresses fogging.

We are having crazy weather right now in northern MN. It's well above average temps for this time of year, but so far, no fogging issues at all. I'll report back once it finally gets cold and that will be a good test.

Hi Mike, I've had the update and TSB done last January and I have to tell you that my cabin heating is now worst than it was before. I've had the car for a year and I live up north in Quebec and we've had one of the coldest winters last year and my car was heating fine. Now with the TSB and the 3.6.2 update, it is freezing in the car. Also, my range is completely off the charts. It used to be quite precise on the remaining KM I had left in various temperatures. Now it is always giving me the summer avg and it drops down twice as much as before. Not really a good way to reassure someone with range anxiety. I am very disappointed with Ford's customer service and the way they handle this matter. I will not be a Ford customer for long.

Bummer! Have you gone back to the dealership? I know at my local dealership, they only have one tech certified on this model, so be sure to ask. On the coldest days, I have found the only way to really keep on top of it is for the car interior and battery to be fully warm (heated garage) and then the heater seems to be able to keep up.

It is now January 31, 2024. Have you had any extreme cold yet to the point where you can heater problem or not? I am just very curious.

We have had some very cold days and I can report it's better, still not great. Plugged in, pre-conditioning and using departure schedule are a big help. If it's below zero, keep a sweatshirt in the car!

@@upnorthmike6085 I guess I am spoiled by living in Tallahassee Florida. We may get a few days in the 20s. And once every few years we might hit the teens. So generally speaking if a car can maintain a comfortable temperature in 20 degree weather, it is more than sufficient. If it dips into the mid-teens, most of us are probably going to stay home anyway 😂

Now that it's November, how's the heat?

We still haven't had a set of really cold weather, but in and around the freezing or mid twenties temps, it is doing just fine. I think that TSB really helped. I'm certainly not hoping for cold, but I'm excited to see how it goes in below zero temps.

Hey Mike. I believe that’s what happened with our car but it’s weird because we did the update and it said it was successful so I’m not sure what happened. It’s a 2021 premium all wheel drive. I’ll keep you posted on what they say when we hear from Ford. I wonder if we have any recalls.
@upnorthmike6085
@upnorthmike6085 Год назад
If you haven't done the HVAC system update, make SURE they do that. It's a known issue especially with 2021 years like mine. As for the warning you got, the 2 times I've had it the last 2 years, it always resets itself and it's like it never happened. I don't get it.

@@upnorthmike6085 so the dealership they towed it to doesn’t have any courtesy cars available and told us to rent one somewhere. I called Ford Canada and they said they can’t do anything to help me. They keep transferring me to some department and telling me they’re transferring me to customer service and I spoke to 10 agents who keep telling me the same thing and they just keep transferring me. Groundhog Day scenario for 2h. I give up. Also they only have 1 tech available for the Mach-e and the other is on vacation. I had to ask if there is a recall and he said 2. I said can you get that fixed he said uhh well if you want. Really?

@@upnorthmike6085 hey! So it’s the conductors that got welded shut ( known issue ) despite all updates it still happened which sucks because Ford said the update would fix this issue when they released it in July. Thanks for letting me know about the HVAC because if I didn’t mention it they wouldn’t have added it to the list of things to do and it had another recall too. Apparently if you don’t request them to do the recalls they dont. We should get the car by next week

Hi Mike....that update for the battery contacts isn't a fix... it's just to monitor it.......my car updated over the air on a Saturday and the car went into a no start on the Monday.......O charge at home on a 110 volt plug in and occasionally fast charge to top of ....50 kw/hr chargers 99% of the time.....no car for 3 weeks so far..... hopefully have some news this week but everything I could see was pointing to the contactors/high voltage battery junction box....

John - it appears the recall changed the software parameters which regulates the current flow, obviously in a negative fashion to protect them from overheating. I would bet in your case it would be the box needing replacement from what I'm seeing on the forums too
@johnvolvo6306
@johnvolvo6306 2 года назад
Yep...that's where the contacts are.....so they replace the whole box.

@@johnvolvo6306hey whatever happened to your car. We just got ours towed despite the update being successful. Car showed Stop safely now sign and wouldn’t start. We’re going to go to the dealers tomorrow to find out.
