That's the thing, she investigated the name on the Epiphone. Another person could just see the name and didn't care about it, or even worse, recognize the name and try to sell it.
There was also a pretty hefty reward for finding them. I want to say it was like $3000? While I'm happy for Robb, I doubt her motives were completely altruistic.
It's a win win situation really as a musician myself I'd just want tickets to the show and show support to Robb by buying Machine Merch out the ass but as a person who may not be into that his thanks and if he insisted on giving said reward I'd take it. If it were me who had my precious item such as this stolen and not knowing 100% if I'd EVER see it again especially somebody who looked up Dimebag Darrell and seen that guitar and decided to hold it hostage for the highest bidder if they said "Hey dude I have your guitar", I'd be in eternal debt to them
You can't put a price on that, faith in humanity is some what restored. That guitar Dime gave him must mean the world to him, that is beyond priceless.
Probably not since she couldn't make out Robb's signature on the back of the Epiphone prototype, but I was thinking the exact same thing. I know that's what I would want :)
Few people would care to return the guitar. Most would keep it or sell it. Goes to show that there are good people out there after all. She's definitely one of them! ❤
Well I have nothing against Rob but who do you want to play Pantera song as guitarist except Zakk Wylde?(as people say, I think nobody can do it) Not many heavy metal bands have a single guitarist and be so aggresive and make epic solo's..
Wow that's awesome and very kind for her, any chance you can find out who ever owned that storage unit? It could be a possible lead to the other guitars.
amazing ... so happy about that . i got a dime on my pc wallpaper holding a guitar smiling. everytime i learn a new solo or do cool sh1t i always look up and see his big grin of approval.... miss dime man
I hope you gave her some kind of reward, gift or something, that was very kind of her. Bless her! And this is btw a very underrated channel, I wish more bands would upload these kinda things on youtube.
There was a 3 grand reward up. I assume she went home with full pockets. She deserves lifetime VIP tickets to MH as well if she's a fan - those guitars were priceless.
Nice to see Robb reunited with the Dime guitar. From the stories of how he originally got that guitar and the relationship he had with Dimebage, it's fitting he's got that guitar back. Awesome story!
Wow! What a gal! If it were me... I'd never have even thought to check if the stuff was stolen. I'd have just been SOOO stoked to score one of the sickest axes out!
Those are some seriously kickass guitars. Glad you got those gems back. I don't know how someone could just abandon those things in a storage locker like that.
I absolutely love and respect honest true people. It's people like her that I truly admire and look up to. I've had a few incidents where people have returned property I had lost In the streets back to me like a wallet or a cellphone and it made such an impression on me that i made it a point to not only admire them but to be like them. Now a dimebag guitar that was personally given to Flynn from the guitar God himself and then stolen (tragic) and now found & given back. Now that's a reunion. Hey Rob I hope you gave her a pair of tickets to your next show, I know I would of , Machinehead Rules #1
oh shit! I cant believe he got his bolt back!!! That's fucking awesome! Good looking out, lady. I don't know why, but seeing Robb got his guitar back after all these years, just made my week. I'm stoked for him. You can see how happy Robb is. Keeping it real with that cheesy ass grin. I'm sure i'd be shedding a little man tear when I got that email with the pic if I were him. Probably Dime himself looking out for him, as Robb has come to be a pretty badass ambassador of metal.
If it was a storage locker, does the company not have records of the previous customer that was renting it? Surely through that, they can trace who was in possession of the guitars before and follow the trail back to the other 2 guitars? Jesus, the feeling Rob must have had to get that back.
I lost my black 1987-88 Ibanez SdGR 1000 to a storage unit auction (fell on hard times). It's a japan manufactured sort of prototype phase to the model released in 1990. It was black, with gold hardware and the guts wired to be passive (long story). There was a pot leaf decal in the center of the knobs and selector switch. Figured I would throw this out to as many places as possible ... maybe some day it will turn up. That bass saw a lot of action in the Brooklyn Hardcore scene and opened for every known band from that era.
Honestly, I wouldn't want a reward or anything because that guitar on its own has so much meaning to him and is a treasure. I'd be extremely happy to return something that means so much to somebody, especially when it was personally given by somebody who was near and dear to a late friend.
as much as the phil response pissed me off this brought a tear to my eye. so happy you got this axe back. Im willing to bet the chills she was getting was Dime's hands. Plug that thing in, turn it to 11 and rip shit up.
So happy for the general to get two of his axes back. And what a lady for returning them to their rightful owner.. especially the dimebag one for obvious reasons. Best reward she could get is to get a vip backstage pass to a evening with machine head. something like that you know. its only been a month or so since they were here in manchester england..and i want them back already.. machine fucking head 4 life.
I owned one of the first 100 Washburn USA Dime Blackjacks ever made...got stolen from me in Columbus, Ohio. Wound up on Reverb.com and they REFUSED to help me get it back. I had a police report and everything. It's #62. Dime gave it to Bill Foley at the German Village Music Haus here in Columbus and it became my 18th Birthday present back in '98. I look every couple of months online for it and found it once...but Reverb really let me down. I contacted the seller, proved it was mine and he deleted the listing like a coward! Hopefully, that guitar makes it way back to me. It meant the world to me! Very glad to see that Robb got his back! What a great story!!
I am very happy about the return of the guitar, amazing story ... But o like to mention the car that this guitar was brought to: D This is the car I am looking for, Dodge Caliber, I like this car like never before, it has this claw and this thing. It is a pity that it is not black but it would make me happy: D One question is: will the recording of the concert from Gdańsk 2019 be available :), I count on it very much: D Best regards Machine Head and Vogg :)
being 45 not a long time machine head fan. pine knob... u know. having my guitar auto'd 92 by dimez n band. he loved my guitar n remembered me without my guitar I knew dimebag was really a fans fan. not some unreal rock star. Robb.... too cool brother. Darrell is talking. We are listening. harpos machine shop.... pine knob (dte) freedom hill we will be there. hope it was spiritual to play it let alone have it back in your hands. much love
hahah funny :) yeah i took some time off to see whats going on youtube and to stalk my friend Rob who is so stoked about getting his Dime razor back, yet he said he will never again play any Pantera song till he lives. Might as well give that guitar back to that lady along with 3K finders fee. Makes sense no.
I've been watching old Pantera videos for the past few weeks and it was making me think how much of a vital person Dimebag was to creating the way modern metal bands sound. I don't believe in any spirituality or supernatural force but I feel like this is a nod from Dimebag to Machine Head to make another incredible record, Bloodstones and Diamonds is one of their best records and I think Machine Head could make another masterpiece like The Blackening! Gechta' Pull 🤘
Yeah he is looking out for you R.I.P Great to see them return. & When are you going to download? I've not seen since 2012. but likely your at Rock City every year. Took my son to an evening with machine head this year!fucking awesome!
Cool congrats on getting two of four back. That's the first series of Washburn 333 model's which where abit different because it doesn't have 333 on truss cover later models had it. I owned a Blackjack model which was pretty sick after I put two bill lawerence 500xl's in it.
