Pachypodium rosulatum subsp. cactipes is a succulent plant native to Madagascar, and it's a subspecies of Pachypodium rosulatum. Here are care and growing conditions for Pachypodium rosulatum subsp. cactipes:
Light:
Provide bright, indirect sunlight or partial shade. Pachypodium rosulatum subsp. cactipes can tolerate direct sunlight, but it's crucial to acclimate the plant gradually to prevent sunburn.
Temperature:
Keep the plant in warm conditions. It is sensitive to cold temperatures and should be protected from frost. Ideally, maintain temperatures above 50°F (10°C).
Soil:
Use a well-draining soil mix. A cactus or succulent mix works well, or you can amend regular potting soil with sand or perlite to enhance drainage.
Watering:
Water sparingly. Allow the soil to dry out between waterings, especially during the dormant period in winter. Overwatering can lead to root rot.
Humidity:
Pachypodiums generally tolerate low humidity, but they appreciate some humidity. Ensure good air circulation around the plant.
Fertilization:
Feed with a balanced, diluted fertilizer during the growing season (spring and summer). Reduce or stop fertilizing in the dormant period.
Pruning:
Minimal pruning is usually required. Remove any dead or damaged growth as needed.
Potting:
Repot when the plant outgrows its container or when the soil becomes exhausted. Use a larger pot with fresh, well-draining soil.
Pests and Diseases:
Watch for common pests such as scale insects or spider mites. Treat any infestations promptly. Pachypodium rosulatum subsp. cactipes is generally resistant to diseases.
Caution:
Pachypodiums can have thorns, so handle with care. Keep them out of reach of pets and children.
As always, it's essential to observe your specific plant's behavior and adjust care based on its individual needs. Additionally, consider the local climate conditions and adapt care accordingly.

I smash up my broken terracotta pots into gravel like chuncks and add that and the dust to the potting mix. That's about the only thing I do differently besides squeezing the trunks constantly and only watering them when they feel dehydrated. I have 13 plants in my Pachypodium collection, and I haven't lost anything except for two seedlings that died a few days after arriving due to shipping stress.
