Cheers mate appreciate it - Russel has prooved he is nothing but a really good guy more than enough money to live comfortably yet openly admits his heroin addiciton to try and save others and I now myself do the same thing but unfortunately we can't save everyone due to the Evil nature of this world. I hope to meet Russel one day to thank him as he speaks nothing but the truth. When you do that shit its cos you feel you are for some reason not good enough but true happiness is realising we are all equals, all nothing but molecules and atoms so Dragonfly I thank you too for taking the time to reply. We do not need killings we are not put on this planet to kill each other. Respect bro.

+ I'm the cosmos Thank you. That's probably the most encouraging and thoughtful thing someone has ever said to me on RU-vid. I'm working on becoming a better person. I struggle terribly with anxiety - I see more and more senseless violence in America, from within and from outside sources, and it makes me incredibly anxious to go out in public. I don't want to just hide in my own home. I want to go out and breathe fresh air and meet new people and interact with those who have the same ideas and ideals as I do. And I struggle very badly with various addictions. I can freely admit that even at the age of 49 I am a work in progress. That, perhaps, is the first step in the right direction.

Ruby Wax is a liar when she says depression is a brain disease and its very irresponsible to her to say so. Lets take a real disease like diabetes, if you suspect diabetes your urine sample will be tested for glucose. Urine doesn't normally contain glucose, but glucose can pass from the kidneys into your urine if you have diabetes. If your urine contains glucose, a specialised blood test known as glycated haemoglobin (HbA1c) can be used to determine whether you have diabetes. However is you suspect depression your urine isn't tested, no blood test or any other biological test is given, and the reason is very simple, its because depression is NOT a real disease. At the moment the whole premise behind psychiatry is that if you're mentally ill its due to a biological problem like a brain disease which is a lie. This means society can carry on screwing people over and making them ill because if its a brain problem then nothing needs to change and those who do thrive in this environment will continue to do so. Psychiatrist use a book called the DSM to diagnose people however most of the illnesses are voted into existence by the American Psychiatric Association, none are discovered in the laboratory. In fact most mental illnesses are diagnosed through an interview. Can you imagine a normal doctor giving someone insulin, chemotherapy, drugs to treat cancer etc on the basis of an interview? If I'm going to have chemotherapy or be put on a life long drug treatment plan then I want a test to prove it especially when psychiatric drugs can causes liver, kidney damage and other health problems.

Ruby's parents were malignant narcissists, that's the key. Born, not made. Made worse by traumatic events which made them even angrier than they would have ordinarily been. She only mentions "narcissist" in passing at the beginning. Children of narcissists are always depressives. Narcissistic abuse changes the chemistry of the brain, damages it.

The reason Russ seems turned off is that Ruby doesn't want a revolution. Russ wants to disrupt the status quo, and change the conditions that create the madness, Ruby just wants to survive within it.

@sofiarusso958

Yes, but RW has always maintained she wasn't capable of orchestrating the big changes, she freely admits other people can do it and do it better. And I've heard Ms Wax speak of the various conditions that contribute to mental illness. She addresses them and advocates change for an individual where possible. Sometimes people can't change the circumstances that contribute to their depression, and if that's the case, these people need coping tools. If Brand wants to start a revolution Ms wax would be right beside him lending her support. Ms Wax adds her voice and effort to helping peeps cope. Sometimes that's all peeps can do, just take one minute at a time and cope, or survive as the case may be. My sister suicided at age 48 because she was overwhelmed and couldn't cope with her depression. For me personally, Ms Wax's humourous descriptions of her depressive symptoms and episodes are the only thing I've found that makes me laugh and assists me with making sense of some of the aspects of my own experience with depression. I've tried to bring about change in my family to the detriment of my own mental health after my sister died, I experienced severe backlash and scapegoat abuse. In my experience suicide as a result of depression really is the last taboo...only exception is talking about that dead person.

The issue is still the stigma, lack of understanding about mental Illness. People only understand if they have suffered with it. It was great to hear Ruby describe what her symptoms were. I can relate to the racing mind and anxiety and the avoiding is crippling. I applaud Ruby for being so open and honest.She is right saying "we are all alone and isolation plays a part in that"'

Jane McGrath mental health issues are merely the repercussions of an attempt of people to fit into something that does not fit into them. Expect it to rise significantly, suicides also. This is because the lost souls believe they are their minds and the product of thought... not the watcher of. I know cause by medical standards I’ve had every single one of them pathological titles. Ash E- I kinda get what you're saying. I feel that. My mental health issues (though at times debilitating) can be a blessing. I watch my thoughts very closely these days since I stopped drinking (almost 9 months) and realized that I am not my thoughts and with it I am not one organism sustaining itself. There's a symbiotic relationship with all life and all matter/material. There must be a connection to something greater than ourselves and I'm not talking deities. I can sometimes feel very overwhelmed by the amount of information the world can offer the mind. In sight, sounds, smells, feeling, emotion and I have to really struggle to focus my mind back to a pleasant peaceful state . I've spent all my adolescents and adulthood surrounded by it. But, then I guess that's why I started drinking and using to switch it all off dull the senses. It got to a point were I'd look forward to the abysmal headaches (*edit* and hangovers) in the wake of a days long binge because I felt calm in that pain and suffering I could focus my mind on it and when drunk, it's just, switched off and someone else was driving. My brain is hard wired into the existential and I don't think that calling it a crisis is very fair. Thank you for sharing your thoughts.

We’re all in fact producing our own little movie star The truth is so obscured and yet so obviously blatant It’s time to meet “God” and get reacquainted Once you’re touched by life everything falls into place And you like me will see the madness off the human race.

I've always liked Ruby Wax... She used to have my Mum in stitches, when she was always on telly, in the 80's & 90's... My Mum loved her... So much so, that I always think of my Mum whenever I see her... She's obviously's a very bright, intelligent woman... She used to represent that stereotypical, loud, brash, American that British people view/ed them as being... I summarised that, that's why she was chosen by program maker's a lot, back then... To perpetuate that view of them... She seem's to have chilled a lot, these day's... It's more than likely, just her age... I remember her having a few problem's, a number of year's ago... I watched something on the T.V. where she was talking about it openly...I was under the impression that she had manic depression (bi-polar) though she stresses (in this interview) that she just has clinical depression... As she doesn't have the massive peak's & high's, along with the low's, in the doldrums... Anyway, she, at least outwardly, seem's fine to me during the conversation... I do hope that on the whole, she's in a much better place these day's... She really is a special kind of person & so kind hearted... You can just tell... I wish her the very best... I think that I can safely say that she's very well loved in this country, by most people...

It’s as though Ruby found the door to the Holy Grail and became obsessed with the door rather than walking through it to what she calls “woo woo”. She’s greatly analysed the door, which yes is representative of the realm beyond it but is not the realm. Therefore her analytical mind and ego still rule and as she said if “she can’t see it or smell it she doesn’t buy it.” The lower self dwells in the senses and the higher self transcends them. You’re so close Ruby but you stopped at the door! Come in!

@Melody4Midnight
@Melody4Midnight 6 лет назад
Psychiatry Capitalist Fraud I understand your frustration and I can sympathise and relate to not always being treated appropriately or accurately and with my (the patient) best interest. Also I do agree that there is a big business in pharmaceuticals, and I must say that everyone being told “it’s a chemical imbalance” for the last few decades is false information. How do we know that it is false? Because they have no baseline of comparison. Where I disagree with you is this, and I hope you do consider what I’m saying. Just because a test has not been invented does not mean that a disease does not exist. Think about the onset of any kind of disease outbreak.Or a better example, late stage Lyme disease (which causes mental and physical illness) can not be tested for using the antibody test because the immune system has been destroyed and under immune suppression you won’t make the antibodies. They have recently found new ways of testing. Also, knowing just how debilitating mental health can be (just as much as physical) I think it’s fair to acknowledge the brain is in suffering, has an illness, and that illness is real, physical, and felt very deeply. Did you know depression can cause brain inflammation and vice versa? A bit of a chicken and egg thought for you there, because until a root cause is identified, who knows what test even fits? In closing I must also mention that there are many studies showing that a parasite problem can cause psychological illness, as can heavy metal poisoning. They are very real and physical problems that cause this physical and mental suffering of disease. Symptoms are varied and chronically severe in many cases. Parasites, heavy metals, autoimmune reactions to foods and toxins can all affect the mind. My worst experience, my deepest depression, was when I was living with mold. Google the effects of mold illness on mental health, or mold rage. Mold/mould causes the brain to both shrink and swell causing a wide range of psychological problems.

Loved this interview. I like the way both Russell and Ruby stayed mostly mindful during the conversation. I wrote this article about Ruby Wax's take on mindfulness in her book "Sane New World" 4 years ago. I have been practicing mindfulness for 5 years now and it has helped me immensely. I am diagnosed with PTSD and Bipolar. I now self-manage with my GP, no shrink involved any more. It has meant the world to me and the practice of mindfulness has helped enormously in this. I did two 8-week courses, though for the first I was in a high mood swing and had to miss two sessions. Hence, my MHT offered me the opportunity to take the 8 week course again, because every session is crucial to the whole. I'll never be perfect, NO-one will be hehe! But it has helped me cope with sudden, unexpected death of my husband 4 years back, and to deal with the ensuing few years beyond that. My article is here: tessatangent.wordpress.com/2013/06/10/crazy-not-to-why-sane-new-world-by-ruby-wax-and-mindfulness/ I have learned even more about it since practicing it over these last few years. It does make a lot of sense and my brain is certainly better at dealing with stress than it ever was before... Thanks for a great convo on this programme! :)

Here on a retrospective watch as I ate this Interview up when It aired. Without any dramatic bs It was honestly a seminal moment In my journey not only to wrestle back my autonomy from the clutches of recovering but still fragile mental health, but also helped to re Invigour the curiosity the 7 year old genius within us has. Ensued a year long battle trying to reassign the notion of being healed and why It suddenly became a nonsense word. Like the word normal. That subsequently made me re look at much of the language commonly used In perceiving the nature and social or societilal 'validity' of humans. You didnt look healed. You were clearly In charge of your minds autonomy whilst sonehow also remaining very raw and human. The year I spent debating why that bothered me so much at first and the realisations followed and right up to this day where on stand on the precipice of being the educator, the umcomfortable truth bearer that frees us all I want to say this Interview was more than an Interesting lump of media to me. It was a puzzle piece that change the whole picture. Too Ruby Wax. Much thanks for sharing your 'ugly truths'. I understand now how shame Is transformed Into magic. 😊 I live In a ripple of your Butterfly Effect. And I creating my own. So there your ripple too. Isn't that just the most beautiful thought. It Is to me. 🥰

I love ruby! She has taught me so much. She is super, super intelligent and connected, and one of the most genuine spirits I've ever come across. I could tell Russel was totally captivated by her, I've never seen and heard him so relaxed and quiet, kindered souls, there's an energy and understanding they share, and I do too. I'm totally feeling both of them as human beings. Two of the greatest of our times. One of my favourite discussions I've ever had the pleasure to hear. Worth the watch. It's like a tonic, worked on my "Amygdala" anyway 😁

Poem with Fire 🔥 Who am I? who am I? The answer will leave you higher than timbuktu They say talking to yourself is the first sign of madness, Broken hearts, lost souls and sadness. But isn’t that just imagining you? Cause in a lot of respects that’s what we’ve all been trained to do. We’ve been trained in falseness and not in truth. When you breakthrough and realise your story is fictitious. Life itself becomes rather delicious Fear is just a theory there’s no need to be suspicious. Ego is an illusion That drowns you in delusion We are all brothers and sisters finding our way If you believe anything other than that you’ve been led astray Who are you for the facts Question your reality you silly twats 🤙🏻😍

The beings and generations that follow ours and those that follow those will remember quicker and quicker. The world is awakening, mental illness will rise as souls struggle to handle society’s narratives and their own inner awakenings, chaos, suicides, will humanity save itself or will we let the whole house of cards come crashing down on ourselves? 🌈 Stay tuned in folks !

I'm the cosmos I’ve been one of those who was in ignorance, have compassion in realising these people are only ignorant because they’ve been trained to be. Our society is full of fear, the real battle and choice has always between fear or love. It’s just a choice but people believe they are the story of the person they have been trained to identify with. What we need to work on the children of the world, mediation and introducing them to the inter dimensional heart-space that exists within all of us. The problem is this doesn’t help with the economy, we no longer become passive, fearful consumers, going through life obtaining. We become free!. What use is this to a dead world ideology?. This is why there is war on consciousness albeit a war on us as a collective.

Fair play for giving Ruby a platform - although she is obviously still in a state of disarray. She should be looking deep into her own consciousness. "I can't get into the whole buddhist stuff" - yes you can Ruby, you're just listening to your own prejudgements but they are just thoughts, you know, the things you are meant to be mindful about.

Very interesting. This is unbelievably good for not obvious reasons. The person he's talking to is a great example of a person who thinks mainly mechanically, materialistically, but is learning rapidly enough, has a trajectory of honesty, that might actually allow her to eventually see through her limits in thinking. So it's so mixed that it's a perfect way to see the limits of mechanical/rational thinking:

Ruby mentions cortisol a lot. It sounds to me like many of the symptoms from cortisol over production are like M.E. which Ive suffered from for 15 years. That is another area where there is simply no funding to incentivise research.

Fibromyalgia is also caused by stress and trauma. There's a book 'Reverse Therapy' that explores this. Trauma puts our bodies and brains in flight or fight mode. We stay in this stressed state. There needs to be therapy that accepts this.
