This week we watch Maestro, a film directed and co-written by Bradley Cooper, who convincingly ages across four decades. In this episode, we address his biographical film about American conductor Leonard Bernstein and learn a lot about Cooper’s career and directing techniques. Also, we finally learn what a conductor actually does. We discuss whether the apparent 6 years of prep goes unnoticed as far as the performances are concerned. And we recoil in horror at Carey Mulligan's lack of ageing.
The film follows Leonard Bernstein as he begins a tumultuous relationship with actress Felicia Montealegre, upturning both of their lives.
Co-written, directed and starring Bradley Cooper. Carey Mulligan, Maya Hawke and Sarah Silverman also star in Maestro.
Maestro is available to stream on Netflix.

Another dazzling ep 💫! Watched the film right after the release of this ep. The storyline didn't seem unique or appealing to me, but the performances were great, and I like how the film shifted from black-and-white to early coloured and finally to the present day colour as the characters aged. It really helps create the past environment before you, especially for a youngster like me, who missed out on milennia changing by 5 years. 🤣

Strange as it is, I enjoy the episodes where you all disagree or don't really like the movie. It feels like you dig deeper to draw the conversation out. Interesting take. Much love as always. Btw Zelda all day ✊🏽 depending on which iteration you go with for the movie: Joey King Hunter Schaeffer Emma Stone Dianna Agron

totally agree that the filming was beautiful and the performances were incredible but wasn’t sure what the aim of the movie was ? Would have loved more insight to music (although that would have meant less carey so forget everything I said)
