You know what's nice about this one? It doesn't end in a wedding, but you can still tell Aidan and Annika are happy. Like usually the characters Barbie "plays" are really young (like 16 years old in this case) and still they get married. Or they just met the guy like two days ago. Same with Tangled from Disney. It doesn't end in a wedding, but it ties things off in a perfect way by letting the audience know that after a few years, Eugene asked Rapunzel to marry him.
Annika and Aidan did get married coz if U pay attention to detail you can see that at the end Aidan is wearing a crown(now a prince) but before he was just a blacksmith. They celebrated the wedding in the cloud kingdom
But Eugene proposed to her like three times on screen, not even a year after all the Gothel trauma. XD Plus she would have done the same if Varian hadn't been needing the ring. I guess they have been through so much crap at that point so the time of them just being together shortens with each new adventure. :) What I consider weird in Tangled is the age gap between them. Eugene is 26 or something and Rapunzel is 18? Bit of a stretch for Disney. Have a nice day!
@@petrastein2531 I haven't seen the Tangled show, if that's what you're talking about. Also, I personally don't consider 18 and 26 that big of an age gap. It's better than some of their movies where minors got married (like Ariel when she was 16) lol
@@Alexa-xl1gi True words. Well, then I just have to recommend Tangled: the series (with episode 0 as well). It's like Broadway cartoon. Yeah as far as I can remember Snow White was just 14? :) But I prefer Barbie over Disney, so this doesn't bother me much. Thank you for unexpected reply and have a nice day!
Looking back now, I think this is one of the best Barbie movies. The characters are more developed than usual, especially the love interest. Annika's ice skating ability and passion is actually impressive, different than "she can sing and dance, wow!". And I like the storyline of the main character having a secret sibling, and danger looming over the family, plus the villain having a collection of wives that later get back on him. Might be known tropes in other media, but not really common in Barbie movies.
You know what's better here than even some real movies and series? The wives don't kill each other for 1 man. They work together to get rid of same man. Kinda like The Other Woman.
This was always my favorite because the relationship between barbie and the love interest wasn't love qt first sight right away, and the characters aren't 2 dimensional. Also the sass
I love this film. It’s not all lovey dovey like you see in all the other early Barbie films. It reminds me of Tangled where Flynn and Rapunzel have hilarious beef with each other til the end
I love this film. It’s not all lovey dovey like you see in all the other early Barbie films. It reminds me of Tangled where Flynn and Rapunzel have hilarious beef with each other til the end
Also Barbie (specifically Annika) when things don't go her way: After thinking of a strategy she does something about it and doesn't care if she gets in trouble for it so long as she gets the chance to do what she thinks is the RIGHT thing to do😎🙂
And straight dudes who don't usually watch this kind of stuff when tbry were kids say that this was the best of all barbie movies, worst being rapunzel. Aaron and jo is the channel name The only issue they had with this is the forced outtakes at the end of the movie and the bear having a crush with the dude
I never realized it when I was younger but Barbie totally did kidnap that baby polar bear, didn’t she? Like it probably had a family but nope, it’s Barbie’s now.
It's ok, the polar bear told her it didn't have a family when she asked. I'm not making that up btw, she asks "do you have a family?" and Shiver goes "nuh uh" and shakes her head.
Even when she’s throwing a tantrum barbie sounds so majestic lol “you’re ruining my life👑” EDIT: 9 months later and im rewatching this seeing my comment and all these LIKES im wheezing-
ok but we need to talk about how Aiden had the best and most mature gambling addiction backstory. And then the moment he and his dad have at the end hits hard every time.
In fashion fairytale she mentions how she filmed barbie and the three marketeers. And in the beginning of the movie in barbie’s truck, you can see the barbie in a mermaid tail poster on the wall
Ok, but towards the end of the movie, Annika is about to skate off a literal cliff into Wenlock's lair, and she turns to Aidan and says to stick close to her and he'll be fine, and he just smirks and says "I hope I can handle it", and oh my gosh, it stopped being a kids movie for a sec there
They are my second favourite couple, my favourite couple was Clara and the Nutcracker. I always loved how Barbie didn't felt in love with him because of his appearance rather because of his (mysterious) personality and his actions.
@@thari1276 I feel u, back then when I was a kid, i used to think that Aiden is mean but as I grow up, I understand the sarcasm better and thought he is fun and funny 😂
All jokes aside, One thing I loved about this movie is that the love interests in this movie don’t fall right in love at first sight, like you see in A LOT of the earlier Barbie movies where the princesses and prince are always falling in love at first sight. Here, It’s like a breath of fresh air that Annika and Aidan sort of display animosity towards each other in the beginning that makes this so realistic and hilarious. They’re probably the most hilarious Barbie couple. It definitely reminds me of the relationship tension dynamic in Tangled where Flynn and Rapunzel have hilarious beef with each other til the end where they slowly fall for each other and marry.
He is probably some of the rare princes who married into the princesses's fam too i think Atlantis is the only one that beats this so yeah Mattel Barbie movies were rlly more empowering females than disney id say
Yall I was named after this movie 😭 and this was and still probably is my favorite Barbie movie. Btw in Indian mythology, Annika is a synonym for a goddess named Durga who is a warrior and kills things with her lion (10/10 badass).
Say whatever you want for the Barbie movies, but Aidan was hands down one of the best "Princes" in animation. A well-built background that led to redemption, plus his romance with Barbie and their character development were very good. Plus, for once we don't see the usual wedding scene. Just a young couple in love, skating on the clouds, eternally happy.
No one’s mentioned that the reason Aiden was in the Forbidden Forest was because he gambled all his father’s money away, and wants to make it back somehow. You don’t get a plot point like that in Barbie movies nowadays. 🙁
The main reason why I like him. He has flaws, he knows that and he’s trying to redeem himself. He’s not that type of goody-two- shoes perfect Prince Charming every girl dream about. Just a man who made mistake and has to live with it. Quite realistic I must say.
true! they couldve reused these more substantial plots than overusing the princess-and-average-girl-looks-like-each-other-so-they-exchange-lives-for-a-day plot im so sick of it
Ngl some princess in movies like this lacked persona and were really cliche aswell I think that’s what made people like the prince such and icon lmao But I do agree with you
I realized just recently how much I missed these old Barbie movies... But these clip shows are much more efficient than rewatching every one of my favorites, so thank you.
Amusing how, in a film portraying Barbie's character's sister, who is colorful horse, Barbie's voice actress would eventually voice another colorful horse in another show based from another toy franchise a decade later.
1:50 brietta: (in horse form) i’m brietta her sister aidan: lmao i can see the resemblance anika: i can’t see my bear cub aidan: let me guess, *yOur cOusiN?* LMAO DUDE SITS ON THE SAME TABLE WITH FLYNN RIDER
This movie probably had the worst influence on me as a child ironically. That scene where Barbie's parents take her ice skates and she stomps up the stairs and yells, "You're ruining my life!" Yup. Thought that was a good line to repeat to my dad 😂
LITERALLY! That's why I think Princess and Pauper was... dry. It was like: "Omg, they fell in love becouse they... like music/science?" I know it's most ppls fauvorites so this comment is risky but idc
@@faizalardillah1440 it's about his personality, not appearance. In the style of Barbie movies the only people who have distinct designs are the villains
@Das Hrisheeta no its because a second ago she said the purple pegasus was her sister (brianna).. he's having a hard time buying it, so when she talks about the missing cub he taunts if it's her cousin. Does that make sense..?
My main issue is that they're sister's. I have a hard time figuring out the age difference when we never see Barbie as an infant or toddler in Brianna's flashbacks. So like, how old were their parents when Barbie was born? 40? I need answers
To be honest royalty normally marries very young so maybe they got the first daughter when they were 18 and that would give room for them having Anika between 30 40. And you can talk about trauma but the mainly idea was to have a heir to get the throne after they die so I don't think they will have much time to deal with the trauma before trying to get another child
