My mother had a lovely coat like Mr.Boo's back in the early 1960s. I still have it! Looks very good on you, Mr. Boo, but then you could carry anything off. I like your checked shirt too, Tim...it looks nice and warm.
Thanks guys just wonderful. I was lucky enough to visit the Cocteau Gallery just a few weeks before the storm, which I had no idea about till you mentioned it
So happy you are both taking us on the French Riviera Challenge!!! This is one for the history books!! I can't believe sticking your finger in a charger actually works. What a hoot! Wonderful tour of Menton!! Thanks for walking up all those steps for us! Happy New Year from Vermont
Just been sent a link to this video - I love it! I lived 17 years in Menton and know every single building and street so well. It really is such a gorgeous place - you really do it justice!
I had a ball watching this vlog, you've both got a great natural and inclusive style that works so well. I stumbled across your channel as I love the Citroen Ami and your vlogs show just how capable that little quadracycle is. Citroen should pay you to do some advertising for them. I love the mix of shots of Elton, stunning views, your banter together and the interesting facts that punctuate each journey. Please keep it up!!😉
Best one yet, Tim. A much overused term, but watching this was surrealistic. What with Richard and the E-1027 European Health Card, not to mention Aubrey Beardsley and William Webb Ellis, the two opposite sides of your psycho. Or Richard's fabulous coat. The footage of you driving the Promenade de Soleil brought back memories of a memorable lunch or two sur le Promenade in Menton. Oh, by the way, count me in for an order of your Villefranche salt.
Super ! Favourite holiday destination … it was here we were based doing a walking tour over a week with Headwater and Exodus - ( on both programmes ). Back in ‘17 - stayed at Balmoral Hotel - highly recommended - on Seafront. Nice unpretentious hotel - holiday worth every penny ! Damn Brexit for making it so hard for Brits to have easy and lengthy access to France ! Thanks Tim and Mr Boo Bill in Sussex waiting for his own Ami - deposit paid …
This was a fantastic tour of Menton. We have been there many times and our Friend Richard has rented us apartments in La Darse in previous years. We wondered what happened to him, we didn't know that he became a Movie star. We will be back to Villefranche hopefully in the Spring and will be looking for an apartment again in Les Galets. Hope to see you there Richard.
What a beautiful place - please can I live there 🙏. That view from the cemetery is just amazing. Also I loved the market. We love noseying round markets! I really enjoyed the video. Thanks guys !
26:14 - "Whose idea was this?" - And then we get a summary of Tim's entrepreneurial ideas and adventures, while Mr Boo makes some well placed faces. I only found your channel recently, and this little bit gave me a good backstory of you two. Wonderful. And this sad-upbeat quote from Tim after he suggested they could put up the 12 year old bike-saddle covers from Egypt for sale: "Maybe people will buy it out of sympathy." :-) :-)
Watching Tim, Mr Boo and their grand Ami at Menton, Oct 2022. Such pleasure to see the Med, the streetscapes, and the singular cemetiere at altitude through your eyes. This is the first official driving video I've watched. At first I was perplexed by your confidence in traffic situations and your quick reactions. Then I remembered ... of course ... you're both cyclists! So road awareness is pre-loaded into your brains. Also, steering, cornering and braking. Well done on adding the extra two wheels to your repertoire 👏 🚲 🚲
I also started loonking for Citroen Ami videos and stumbled apon your channel and its wonderful that you take us along with you on the french Riviera. Is it affordable to live there, how do you manage, maybe you can tell us on your next video. Im really inclined to go there, but i think it might be too expensive to live.
We always spend a day in Menton when we stay in Villefranche 😎 They made such a good job of redeveloping the beach area, those pergolas that dispense the cooling mist are a welcome retreat on a blazing hot day 😎
Hi I just been told I have a double in the South of France and it’s you! …..so I found your video…. Coincidentally Beardsley was my first great love at Hornsey Art school in London, where I’m from! but now live in California. Great video and another love Eileen Gray was covered by you! Marvelous! Stephen
Love your adventure and tour! Been to Menton many times, but would not have the courage to drive up that hill to the cemetery..... very brave! And yes, I would buy your salt from Villefranche.... ;)
Loved the tour of Menton and especially the market. My parents used to visit it often, on a coach all the way from Cardiff! They loved the seafront as Mam was in a wheelchair latterly so loved the flatness of the promenade. But probably not as much as my Dad who had to push!🤪
@@MeandMonAmi I think it was overnight with two drivers. Something like 18 hours with stops. Not something I’d want to do but it was easier than flying, getting to airports and transfers etc and above all cheaper!🤪. Think it was Shearings Coaches that did it although it was probably 20 years ago. My parents did it quite a few times. They obviously loved it at Menton.
The bus from Menton to Nice is one of my favourites and it of course passes through Monaco. The fare is 1.50 euros - great value. Have you visited Jardin Exotique in Monaco - wonderful cacti and succulents and truly amazing views over Monaco. Our favourite restaurant in Nice is L'Acchiardo in rue Droite - very friendly. See you there sometime - when the French government lets us visit again.
Found your videos via looking for info about the Citroen Ami. The production value is quite high with establishing shots, B roll etc, and of course the area looks fabulous on "film". Great going. Was wondering who is the music by on the video? Normally RU-vid lists music rights on videos.
This seems to have become my favourite channel. Great chemistry direct, unpretentious presentation, excellent editing, and bubbling with good humour. Surely the Ami top speed is 28mph, not kph though? I reckon Beardsley chose his permanent spot very well, the surroundings really are spectacular. You've got me interested in doing something vaguely similar in a 1959 Berkeley three-wheeler, it's already taken me two years to get it registered here in France....so rather hard to guess when that'll happen!
Thank you so much for another wonderful video! Have you thought about going up to Sainte-Agnes? it's right above Menton, but you can't see it from Menton. The Maginot Line is there. Also, there are ruins of an old castle, and a wonderful place to have lunch: Le St. Yves. Just a thought, but a wonderful little gem of a place. Ton Ami might like the challenge. :-) Always enjoy watching you guys.
The only tools you need are gaffer tape to make things stop, WD40 to make things go and a big hammer as a backup for either of them! Also, who was the poor bugger that had to climb the steps twice to set up the camera? 😂
Indochina = Vietnam. The colonial French name was Indochine. “Donald Trump’s bleach” was a reference to an IV infusion of hydrogen peroxide solution. This degrades into oxygen and a free oxygen radical. The resultant free radical storm will kill all vulnerable cells that are encountered. Like virus infected cells. The treatment is quite effective in treating viral infections though no longer popular. Loving the tour of the Riviera. Keep up the good work 😊
Ha Ha. Your reaction on arriving at the Cemetery after your drive up, reminded me so much of my reaction when I drove up to Gourdon, from Grasse in 2019. We were supposed to stay for lunch, but I was so shaken up by the drive I turned to my partner and exclaimed "we have to drive back down immediately, or I will never have the nerve to get us off this F'ing Mountain". Had a lovely lunch back down in Grasse instead. PS are you taking the AMI up to the Gorges du Verdon? I find that equally nail biting. LOL.
I feel your pain. We had to drive back down in the gloom. And then through Monaco at rush hour! We’d like to do Verdun. We’ve been to the Gorge Du Blavet..
@@MeandMonAmi never been game to drive through Monaco. Cannes in the height of summer was enough pour Moi. Looking forward to more of your adventures....giving me ideas for this June, when we will hopefully allowed out of Prison Australia , and back over
You may very well already know this, but there is an excellent walking trip from the edge of Menton (Carnolès) around Roquebrune into Monaco (sentier du littoral). Take your speedo's and go for a dip, there's several beaches with showers along the way. It's about 8 km and you can take the train back to Carnolès station. Highly recommended.
Battery break in for first cycles will give you the expected performance. I came back home with no left energy for 2 days and now I have 70 or little more mileage (in km)
Hi guys, not long come accross your channel and I'm watching one after the other - fabulous. But, who is the music by and the name of the song, it's great, really gets in the head
Just love your tour to menton beautiful looking forward to your next tour so nice mr. Boo are joining you Also love the music in the videos Can you tell me the name of the female song it’s good 🌞❤️
I’m new to your channel and absolutely love what your doing. I’m looking at getting an Ami when they come out in the uk. How do you charge it? Is the cable wired in to the car? Thanks
I haven't noticed recently, but I think the filler music is too loud in this episode. I adjust the volume to listen to what you say, then you wake up my neighborhood with the filler music. 😀👍
@@MeandMonAmi All the fruits are sold off on the last day and all us locals make jam and marmalade out of it. Even the plants are sold off, nothing is wasted. Thanks for showing the town is such a good light.
A Lemon ? Citroen was founded in The Netherlands by a Dutch called Mr Citroen. Because of restrictions he moved to France and added the dots on the e in his name to sound more French. Citroen is the Dutch word for lemon... so yes all Citroens are lemons 😳
Yeah (did you see the eze village video we did?). On the steepest hills could be as low as 18kmh but on most hills and in tight spaces I’d say it’s fine
The way you say Citroën in English, is kind of a false friend of Norwegian "sitron" (=lemon). Made the thumbnail more interesting... Apparently most languages have a word related to either 'lemon", or "sitron". Would be interesting to know more about linguistic history for each. (But I guess that's a subject for å different channel).
@@MeandMonAmi but generally not in English. In Norwegian, for some reason, it is more common to say something closer to "Cit Ro Eng", (I have no idea where the "g" came from.)
