Right! A great montage of Google Earth, drone parts and road trip elements with nature and small city shots. I love the mixture and i really would like to see a series of 'How to Edit' films from them - so many YT channels could benefit a lot!!
Yeah he is a very educated man and Mr Boo too , also helps if you have the tools like a Mac Pro and Adobe Editing software but i would not have a clue how to use it and the 3d effect cameras he has for the Ami too
I started watching because I love the area which I first visited age 6 at Villefranche-Sur-Mer. I do enjoy your personalities and getting some history too!
There's a bus stop??? I'm glad you didn't meet one coming the other way! 😲 Anyway, thanks for the tour; you chaps certainly live in a stunning part of the world!
Thank you for taking me up on my suggestion to visit Sainte-Agnes. You both demonstrated incredible courage. And Elton was superb! We're glad that you enjoyed lunch at Le St. Yves. We actually stayed there for a week back in 2018, in one of their new rooms. It was quite adequate, and the meals were wonderful (especially the frites!!). We took the bus up and down the mountain to and from Menton (although sometimes we walked down to Menton on the road). That sign you saw along the road near Peille? That signs honors 2 Canadian and 3 American soldiers who lost their lives there in 1944. We found it while walking along the road one day. Aren't the ruins of the chateau something? Quite a climb, but well worth it. Enjoy the week ahead! Best video yet! Looking forward to next week. :-) Bye! Carol (NY) Oh, by the way, the Logman From Alcatraz? That's Georges, the owner of Le St. Yves, where you had lunch.
And yet another fantastic video, you definitely missed your calling!!”Lost doggers” was a classic,Yvonne my wife says “He is very naughty “ with a big smirk 😝 Brilliant work lads 👏
We love your trips & sending hugs , but please orientate Elton when you arrive at a charging point to save on extension leads & don’t leave connection outside the car so no one can interfere. It’s all divine so please keep doing it , 🤩 hugs
To be honest we use extension because putting its own cable back in the hole is such a pain in the butt. But we have figured out putting the extension socket inside the car (also in the hole!) Are extensions bad?
I don't think my fear of heights would do well on Route D22! The corner with the skid marks was not reassuring. Sainte Agnes is very beautifu! The views are spectacular! !Thank you for this wonderful trip. Love from Vermont
Susan and I love your weeklies, but she was concerned that Mr. Boo looked a bit worried on the drive up. Great to see the logman in a return engagement.
Just stunning but my was that road scary. Fair play to Elton - she’s managed that climb no problem! Even in the mist that view from the chateau was breathtaking!
Nice vid as usual. Don't think I've heard this rendition of the Saint's story and I went to a Convent school and college in India where she was the patron Saint. You guys also forgot to add the spooky music haha. Great stuff, keep going.
Great video! On our first visit to Sainte Agnes we encountered paramedics stretchering some poor soul down from the top.....probably not the best place to have a heart attack! We have (only once) taken the motor bike on that road - going up is bad, but coming down is terrifying! Looking forward to your next trip.
Good evening guys, thanks again for beautiful and well-edited images of the area. The French charging stations give me the nerves 1400 kilometers away in Rotterdam hahaha. We look forward to your next adventure.
Thank you for another great video. We went to visit Sainte-Agnes in 2016 during a stay in Monaco but it was so foggy that day that we did not get to enjoy the views, so thank you for bringing us back there. And yes, the juice bar was closed the morning of our visit 😂
I love Sainte Agnes! First time I went there I met an american lawyer, who went to Nice every year, including the bus ride with lignes 100 from Nice to Menton and then bus 10 from Menton. She showed us the ropes of a fantastic village and the thrills of eating at a restaurant balcony with a 1000 ft. drop below us. Amazing! And the village is so charming! Keep up the good work!
I love this video so much! I was inspired by you guys to take a trip up here today on my holiday and wow you are not exaggerating on the food! I had to stand on the bus on the way down straight after the wild boar daube and lemon meringue pie lunch…😂 You will be pleased to hear the prices are still the same in 2024 🎉🎉
This was one of my favourite drives when I arrived in France. First time I ate rabbit was at St Agnes. Once took some friends to see the view and arrived to find the village enveloped in clouds. Thank you!
A fabulous journey - many thanks for filming and also for the info on St Agnes 👍. Don't think I'd be much good at driving on that route because in places where there are no barriers, I'd have to close my eyes 🤣🤣🤣😱😱😱. Years ago, I drove the Hardknott Pass up in the Lake District (parts of which are 1in 3) with white knuckles, but unfortunately I have lost my bottle even more as I've got older
Another perfect Video. Yes I landed here because of the car but I stayed because of the whole package. Keep up the good work and let’s hope you hit the 10000 soon
I think you should check your cars ownership manual and see if parachutes come in the car. Gees some of the roads there scare the you know what out of me. Thanks for the story of St. Agnes, most interesting. Good video, ty.
I’ve just discovered your channel and having a really good giggle, apart from the fact I’ve lived in Nice for many years and never been up to st Agnes. Thanks for the trip! By the way, you should make a video solely with the different facial expressions of mister boo as you’re driving along 😂. I’m definitely subscribing 😊
@@MeandMonAmi The delivery was ace Mr Boo! You both have a great rapport. Apart from the giggles, your vids have some beautifully shot scenes and are very informative. Keep 'em coming boys! 😊
Great video! It seemed like Elton was struggling a little bit on that trip, but still made it! Just like you two, I was so glad you managed to find somewhere to eat-what a relief!
Brilliant video. You guys are amazing. The ideas for adentures and reviews of eating establishments are ideal for future travellers and locals alike. Loving the music, we've shazamed quite allot lol. Elton is amazing too. Hopefully he gets his full charge next week. ;-)
What a brilliant trip and utterly fantastic scenery! Thank you for taking us along and the interesting history! Always cheers me up watching your adventures ❤
Goodness - I've cycled up that road once, in the opposite direction, Menton-Saint Agnes-Col de la Madone-then wind back down to Menton. Awesome on a bicycle - but I think I'd have suspected heat stroke if I'd seen an Ami heave into view. Chapeau !
I’ve just found your channel. Thoroughly enjoying it. You guys should start a tv documentary. Something along the lines of a villa in Spain. You’d be stars
Am about to start catching up with your fabulous videos. So so agree about this road to St. Agnes - scary. I had an exhibition here a few years ago and had to drive up most days. Vowed never again except on rare occasions. And well done you for climbing up to the chateau and medieval garden. Never managed that... you guys have stamina. Your Me and Mon Ami trips are brilliant. I agee with someone else's comments about such good editing, etc. Fabulous! Love the St. Yves and also Le Righi, which was closed I think on the day you were there. love Jilly xxx
Love this trip , very 007 , that village is great , the Ami is like a new version of the 2cv it's just so suited to that area. Maybe one day I'll visit. In the mean time thankyou for sharing :) I love stew my fav :) boar and rabbit :) I remember from school playground in the 70s, Mary had a little lamb, she also had a bear :) , we laughed so hard at that , haha
Only someone's links put me here about the Citroën Ami, but I'm more than happy with this video. You just showed me another place to I have discover. Thanks a lot! I hope I can get there soon. 🙏 🙂 (Great video and quality! 5* 👌 )
Well now you have 7680. Congratulations 🎊 🎉 whoopee! When you take those kind of trips, you guys should always have a small Yeti packed with sandwiches and protein bars along with water always to drink. Wow, what an unbelievable view, thank you for sharing your adventures with us. ❤👍🏼😉 that road 🫣
Thanks boys for another enjoyable video. I once drove from Marseille via route Napoleon up the mountains - hairpin after hairpin bend in the dark, a nightmare. I think you were very courageous to drive on those treacherous roads. X
Been there did that! Like a baton twirler I was wheelin' my C3 diesel, no GoPro, so your pictures are super valuable. Did you notice all the de-fib heart machines stations? Seriously, the altitude got some low lander ostie people in quite a bad way when i was there. I was ready to do the 'clear!' (BAM) thing for them...
Another great video! Thanks VERY much for the temperature and for showing the charging process as I'd requested! BTW, as someone else mentioned, the sound wasn't as clear for me as it usually is; I have no idea why. I *really* appreciate all the editing work you must put into these videos, combining footage from all your cameras! Very well done indeed.
Superb video - love watching you guys, putting me in the mood of doing a road trip. My partner and me moved to Hungary a couple of years ago so time for a euro road trip. Also, who is the male singer and the song in the background - great taste in music too guys
Finally got back to Nice after all the travel restrictions. Tomorrow we are taking the train of marvels up to Breil sur Roya, Thank you for the idea. Will let you know how we get on.
@@MeandMonAmi You are right, we only went as far as Breil today. We arrived at 10:00 and it was closed!! We will travel all the way to Breil and Tende again in the Spring. We are really enjoying your travels with Elton.
@@davidedelstein1037 That’s a shame. When we went to Breil we (luckily) took a sandwich! Tende used to have a good restaurant and Sospel has a number of places I think.
would love to see you driving elton around the south hams - some choice hills around the moor - came for the car, stayed for the people. loving your work
Brilliant! I wish it could have been a longer. Were you able to switch on Elton's heater on the way down and use 'regen' to make up energy for the heater use?
@@MeandMonAmi Also, I was thinking about range extender/booster battery packs for the Ami. I've designed and built some Lithium Battery packs and would love to engineer one for the Ami.
I think those little square holes in the stone walls of the chateau were not for shooting arrows. They were for inserting scaffolding beams for the workers to stand on as they built up the walls. That was explained on another RU-vid video where a nice young Dutchman is fixing up two very old stone houses in the Italian alps somewhere. Another question about Elton: once you were at the top, was it really necessary to charge Elton? Wouldn't the regenerative braking on the long way down the mountain have restored a lot of the original charge?
What a great fact! I’ve done a video on regenerative braking on the Ami and it’s goo but not that good. There’s no way we’d have got there and back with the amount of semi level ground sadly.
Has anyone else got the up and down sound thing? One friend of mine discovered another video of mine played perfectly sound wise on her phone but was up and down on her comp. Be interested to hear from anyone else as I hate bad sound (though the car is very difficult to record in)
@@MeandMonAmi I am horrified to think I criticised the sound yet it could be my computer or speakers at fault. Coincidentally I have a friend who is sorting my computer tomorrow and I'll ask him to sort the sound system at the same time. Apols!
@@gordonnorth5698 I ‘think’ the issue will be whether your comp is playing stereo because sometimes I have to isolate channels. Maybe try it on your phone and see if same issue? But I am intrigued to know if anyone else is suffering same thing as sound and youtube can be an issue!
@@MeandMonAmi Thanks for taking the trouble to respond. Don't have a smartphone but I'll try it on my laptop and see if computer literate friend can find the gremlin on the PC tomorrow,.
Friend couldn't adjust the 'puter but the laptop has perfect sound with your videos. My wife's Aunty Fanny from Dewsbury changed her name to Francis. Wonder why? Thanks again.
Found your channel and I think is is fantastic well done keep posting these videos also you have 2 songs you use on your videos can is ask what are the songs the are beautiful
I keep thinking of the notorious stretches on Colorado’s fabled Independence Pass - not for the faint of heart! There are no guardrails on the ascent snd descent on the eastward side of the mountain and after the summit on the westward side, a one lane stretch of road with no guardrails - for a few miles! The D22 is notorious for being the narrowest mountain road in France if not the world. Elton was like born to navigate it because of the compact nature of the vehicle. But its an inadvisable route for a big car!
@@MeandMonAmi I think he meant you put connection point inside of the car, just behind the door, not in the hole for the charging cable. So if it rains it isn't outside and nobody can disconnect it.
@@DrazenKlisuric ?! Can't they just open the box of the chargepoint and pull out the plug? Or is that locked? Haven't seen anything like this in the U.S.. Europe is so far ahead!
Fully charging an EV is not usually a good idea at the top of a mountain because it leaves no room in the battery for allowing the regeneration to be collected. Did you find that your brakes got a bit hot while going going back down the mountain, Tim?
I didn’t know that. Luckily there was a bit of up and down on the way back so no harm done, hopefully! I didn’t notice the brakes getting hot but round here is so hilly I imagine they will need replacing more often than usual? What is usual?
@@MeandMonAmi I'm sure that there wasn't any harm done. I don't know if you can feel the regeneration [regen] in an Ami when going downhill or coasting. It feels a bit like a gas car being put into a lower gear and 'holding back' a bit. This is when the car is recapturing the energy that would normally be lost by the friction brakes and recharging the battery a bit. On most EVs, if the battery is fully charged and you go down a hill, the regen is temporarily turned off because the battery is already full. You will then not have that feeling of slowing itself down while coasting and will need to step on the brake pedal more than usual until some power has been used from the battery.
Quite! fitted on your garage wall they cost around £1000 pounds and sit there analysing your entire driving life. Round here there are lots of wet muddy roads to drive on with a few rough bits. I will have to drive carefully. It does turn heads around here though. Incidentally my other car is my beloved Pluriel Amelie. 17 years old now and still in fair condition. I didn't see any in your videos, are there any still around in your part of France? Kevin.
No, unfortunately they've fitted with a large cumbersome black pistol style plug. I have been on to the Ami helpline and they have found two possible chargers both way out of town, no cafe's near so I'll have to read a book while I wait. Only 19% autonomy left now. Fingers crossed for tomorrow. Suppose I can't send a photo on this site? Kevin.
Trust me an adaptor from someone like tough leads may not be recommended but will work. If you go to meandmonami on Instagram you can send pictures and I’ll explain
@@MeandMonAmi Hi there, Yes you are quite right. I emailed Adrian at Tough Leads and he told me how to unplug the two pin from the dreaded gun.(I spent two hours at a hotel this morning and charged it two thirds for 88p Sorry I haven't got Instagram, facebook or twitter, mostly use FaceTime, Apple Messages or Skype. I will order a lead from Tough Leads and hopefully charge at home at night. Love your wacky videos and thanks for your good advice. Kevin.
Jesus H Christ! When we get back to VF in March we will take you for beers. BUT, we def won’t be going up that road! We will stick to Betty’s, it’s safer!!!
