Why Magnesium?
Magnesium, the fourth most abundant mineral in the human body, plays a role in over 300 metabolic processes. It participates in the development and maintenance of bones and teeth; the metabolism of carbohydrates, blood glucose, fats, and proteins; the formation of cells and tissues; and the maintenance of muscle function, including cardiac muscle. At MYOXCIENCE, we use Albion®’s TRAACS® magnesium lysinate glycinate (mineral amino acid chelate) and Albion’s chelated dimagnesium malate-both formulated for enhanced absorption. Malic acid (from di-magnesium malate) supports energy production and lactic acid clearance via the Krebs cycle. Malic acid may also support antioxidant systems by enhancing glutathione and antioxidant enzymes.*

My husband was getting some real memory issues; thought he was getting either dementia & or Parkinson’s because his head & hands started shaking just when he was sitting! I started him on some supplements but the main being Magnesium L-Threonate & after 2 weeks he you could see improvement. After taking it for a solid month he was fine, no more shaking & his memory & focusing was greatly improved! We wouldn’t be without it now! He’s been taking it about 7 months & WOW what a difference! His focusing & memory is as good as it was 10-15 years ago, truly! It’s wonderful. I also include a dose of Mag Glycinate with it.

I use magnesium oxide for 9-10 years and I'm very active. I take 400-600mg a day. That is simply because there was not another option in my small Meditteranean country. Only recently we got here Mg glycinate and it's 3 times more expensive than oxide and citrate. Citrate is also very expensive here. I don't even think about buying online 'cause only shipping to this area is the question itself and costs more than the product itself. From the creative point of view, those short-informative types of videos are excellent Mike! You're finally focusing on the actual topic than on the stuff do we hear you, is camera ok, etc. From many professionals out there (keto&carnivore) your conversations with experts bring the most value. I use all three; citrate helps me sleep along with glycinate. I use l-threonate in the day and actually take Malate in the morning. you’re so right. spinach is like an atomic bomb to humans. raw spinach is around 500 or 600. cooked spinach jumps to a whopping 1500. when anything over just a tiny 10 is high, 1500 is crazy. raw okra rhubarb are around 1100. super foods our asses. plants are great, but some are poison. some plants will not harm you until those oxalates have been building up, then you get hit with a brick. let’s all be very careful.

I suffer from episodic migraines and started on 600mg/day Mag citrate in late 2020 when the intensity and frequency of my migraines shot up exponentially, my photophobia became more pronounced and pharmacotherapy wasn't doing a thing to help. After two months I went from 18-23 headache days/ month to 7-10. I became a believer in Mag supplementation. When I started on Vit D3 supplementation during the winter, my migraines went down a bit to 5-7 headache days/ month (I was vit d deficient- check your levels!!!). Last month I came across an article on Mag L-threonate and how it crosses the blood brain barrier. I pretty much slept 9-10 hours a day for the first week I started on them (600mg/d). My thinking and alertness became a lot clearer, brain fog a thing of the past, and probably the best effect- whenever I feel a migraine approaching, timely pharmacotherapy can simmer it back down, this never happened before. I've had just one full on migraine since I started on them last month, so its not a miracle worker. Still, I would highly recommend Mag L-threonate to any migraine sufferer, skip the cheaper formulations that have low absorption and bioavailability and go for L-threonate.

My magnesium story is pretty interesting. When I first started reading about the symptoms of deficiency I was blown away by how many I had especially the high blood pressure and stress. So to give an idea of how deficient I was. I went out in my ignorance at the time and bought a bottle of magnesium oxide. My body needed magnesium so bad that I had no laxative affect. hi MIke, Thanks for you comments on magnesium. I have had trouble for years getting enough mag. I would frequently have muscle cramps, at night and in the day, like in the middle of yoga class. I have tried numerous types of mags....there are so many types! I have tried combining different types and different ways of taking, such as topical combined with oral. I could never get rid of the cramps. Then one day, I heard Dr. Mercola talking about a product he sells, molecular hydrogen, which contains a low level of elemental mag. Each tab of the molecular hydrogen contains 80 mg of the elemental mag. He said he takes 2 of those a day to get the benefits of the hydrogen and the mag. So I tried that. I quit all the other types of mag I was taking and only got the elemental mag (160 mg a day) which is super for low for me, because before I was getting about 600 to 800 mg a day, still with muscle cramps! Well, what Dr. Mercola recommended worked. No more muscle cramps, only 160 mg a day of the elemental. I have no idea why it works so well, but finally I don't wake up at night with severe charley horses. I would get them all over my body, not just the calves, in my abs, hamstrings, butt, etc, but no more. So that's my story.

@@annaburns5382 Thank you for your comments. It could be low potassium causing muscle cramps when you contract your muscles? Growing up I had severe cramps and involuntary twitching due to being very low in both. Now that I use both my energy is extremely high, and my body feels "comfortable" all the time. Really changed my life for the better. I do mag. glycinate (75-100mg), potassium citrate (I don't measure anymore, 1/16 teaspoon?) and mineral salts ( I don't measure salt, I've researched it and excess salt is very rare) in water morning and night.

Magnesium citrate does affect your bowels if you consume grams of it but at more reasonable doses as a supplement it has little effect on your bowels and is absorbed perfectly well. Don't waste your money on some overpriced supplement that doesn't have any real measurable benefit. What is important is that you get enough magnesium in your system for optimal performance. I add magnesium citrate and potassium salts throughout the day to what I eat and drink to keep my electrolytes balanced.

Arjun Singh yes you can take magnesium on top of propranolol ... You might consider magnesium threonate or taurate. Both good for heart... It sounds like you need to increase you potassium in the diet along with magnesium ,... your cells are not releasing the potassium locked in them this gives increased heart rate along with ectopic beats. You need to do this for a period of weeks before things settle down do not stop the propranolol until you speak with your doctor. The magnesium will help lower your blood pressure and relax arterial tension too

Won't citrate still be providing us Mg if one doesn't need a targeted form for sleep or blood pressure or something?

Mike, I have been doing keto and intermittent fasting for about 2 years. Last summer, calcium oxalates began to show up in my urine test. Concerned that they might develop kidney stones, I did some research to see how I could prevent this from happening. Another RU-vid doctor suggested that anything "citrate" would be beneficial in eliminating the oxalates. I decided to go with magnesium citrate, as well as attempting to drink more water. In July 2019 my calcium oxalates were +3, in July 2020 they were +2. What do you think? Is magnesium citrate good for helping the body get rid of calcium oxalates or not? If not, what would you suggest?
