If that's a polyester rope on your magnet, use a blow dryer on the knot, and it won't untie. It will basically mold itself to the knot shape. It will have to be cut off if you want the rope for something else. No need to heat it until you see melting. A heat gun works faster, but is easier to damage the rope.

I just subscribed !!!!! I love to magnet fish sometime,it’s contagious,my brother and I used to go fishing and we aren’t fishermen but,we used to catch metal things on our hooks and then I realized I had an idea 💡 and I thought,what about magnet fishing and I didn’t even know that was a thing on RU-vid that people would video and post all of the time as a hobby!!!! I was doing this in the 60's !! we also used to drag with metal hooks that resembled treble hooks used in fishing... used to get a lot of rods..on the hooks... used them more than magnets.

Should put a carabineer on end of rope and clip it to belt loop. Just in case you out throw your length of rope.

I wouldn't trust a belt loop, maybe your belt. best to make a slip knot around your wrist..

I use those magnets like you have to hang my drop lights under my cars and trucks for more light and I found that filling the groove between the magnet and steel body with high heat gasket maker to stop steel filing from filling the groove making it easier to clean the magnet! Rod

The Christmas tree is put there for a Crappie Bed Cover. It is a cover that attracts minnows which attract Crappie. When construction, in most man-made impoundments, all the trees and bushes are first removed so there is no cover.

Here in Missouri I heard we had some gov't agency specifically LOOKING for old trees this Christmas so as to facilitate some kind of growth for feeding or treatment in local rivers, lakes, etc. Could be wrong.

Double sided magnets might give you better results I see your technique is putting the magnet all the way down, but 2 sided one it's gonna leave more magnet surface to collect things versus dragging along the bottom dirt loving the videos 🙂

I am new to magnet fishing and I'm getting ready to purchase my first magnet. I have seen double sided magnets and the one sided ones you and your dad use a lot. Do you have an opinion on which is better? I would think the double sided on would be best for throwing far and dragging in because the magnet is actually pulling on the ground compared to the single which would be facing away from the ground when pulling in. This is not for dropping it straight down like off a dock but more for throwing and dragging in.

I got out there today for the first time magnet fishing, with my 500 pound magnet from the shore, no dock there. Unfortunately it came loose on about the second cast, I am sure my own fault for not checking. Anyway, emptied my pockets to go into water, or so I thought, now am on my way to get a new cell phone. Womp womp womp!!! I had fun though, I caught a few old nails and a newer washer. Definitely will be back at it, without my phone this next time.

Just a little FYI...I have a 1000 lb magnet and what I decided to do is use 1000 lb para cord instead of regular rope or line. Been working out pretty well so far.

I have had alot of issues with injuries I have sustained throughout my career as a firefighter and now that I am getting older NOT OLD but older, LOL I have had to go through surgeries and all that crap so I haven't been able to use the magnet or go fishing which is like the love of my life. But hopefully if I get right soon I will be able to get back to it. How about you? You find anything good with your magnet?

@@fringestream990 Naaahhhh..Those alligators are more afraid of you than you are of them. I've been living in Florida since 1982. I've water ski'd in alot of lakes that you could have walked across on the gator's backs there were so many of them. I have fished some lakes that the gators were bigger than the John Boats I was in. I've also had encounters with them while fishing the banks of the lakes and ponds. But now keep in mind, whenever I am on the water or in the woods etc... I am always armed. Most of the times with multiple weapons. But never had to shoot a gator. Killed a ton of snakes though. I hate snakes. What part of Florida are you in? I am in the Tampa Bay area but I have lived in several areas of the state. Anyway, those gators won't bother you as long as you leave them alone and you are always aware of your surroundings.

DooWopLuva Ha well you’re probably familiar I’m just south of Lake Placid on US 27, near Moore Haven. The waters here go to and from Lake Okeechobee. And I’m often not too far from Tampa since my mom lives in Venice. And we have a flea market booth in Bradenton. Small world 🌎 😆

its the slower but safer way, and it doesnt harm wood, i use evaporust its still as safe but works faster. but me being a dangerous man, i use muiratic acid which cleans rust away in minutes, but then it gets soaked in Phosphoric acid, because muriatic acid forms salt on the surface of metal, and nobody wants salt embedded in metal.

Taking out all the trash. Is great but the "christmas trees" are there for the fish to spawn. Its a natural habitat for fish to get in snd lay eggs in the spring. GOOD VIDEO!!

Hey Bobby, new sub. Love your videos. Can you make a video on building blinds on the spot? I hunt a lot of public land where we "sweat line". So we're walking a mile or so to our spots. We can only hike so much equipment in and out let alone a lay down or A frame blind. We've had to build blinds out of sticks and cattails. Any suggestions?
