What is maintenance and upkeep like with these? I think what turns people away the most from this is the price and the impracticality, but I never hear people discuss the upkeep necessary to keep it running. We all know it’s expensive, all know the ammo is expensive, we all know it’s a hand cannon that (almost) nobody would consider carrying for defense. But what about the wear and tear, and the changing of parts to keep it running? I read that in the .50 AE model you have to change the recoil springs every 1,000 rounds, that’s the kind of stuff I’m interested in.
I haven’t put 1k through it. It’s super Easy to take down and clean. It is very impractical and basically is a safe queen. I bought it for nostalgia reasons and really nothing more. Thanks for watching and commenting and please be sure to subscribe if you haven’t already
I like the crickets in the background, they are soothing. I got my L6 a few days ago, and I was surprised how manageable the recoil is, I shot a older Desert eagle many years ago when I was first getting into firearms and that vented compensator makes a huge difference. The L6 version is my new favorite handgun.
I have a .50 AE as a matter fact, it’s the exact same one you have so well done on the color choice… next time you go take water melons take some jugs of water put some food coloring in there some cheap, 2 L of soda and have yourself some fun. You will never shoot at paper again.
Beautiful gun. I enjoy shooting too much to afford that lol. I have enjoyed collecting different caliber guns for a while now, and have come all the way back to 9mm just because of the affordability of training a lot with it. Enjoy !
I feel ya pain. Before Covid we would sling 2 or 3 thousand rounds a month down range. We probably haven’t slung that much in 2 years 🤦♂️. Thanks for watching and commenting and be sure to subscribe if you haven’t already. Thanks again
@@GSquaredTactical I got myself a solid black version of this gun last March, as an early birthday present to myself, but it's the .44 Magnum version (as the .50AE version was unavailable at the time).
My father used to have one....he used Buffalo Bore ammo for his, especially the 380gr HardCast. He sold it a couple years back and he regrets selling it.
Yeah I would regret it too especially since it was a gift from my wife lol. Thanks for watching and commenting and please be sure to subscribe if you haven’t already
I have the Black L5 44mag with no lower rail. I conceal carry it easily and daily. It is no problem at all. I'm kidding of course. I usually carry a Shadow Systems Mr920 Elite, G26, or I'll carry a Dan Wesson Specialist in the winter. I think I just ALWAYS must be carrying something. Especially in today's society. I wouldn't want to carry the Desert Eagle mostly due to the over penetration. I agree 100%. The L5 is not nearly as heavy as it's predecesor. I also think it would be good in bear country, but I prefer my G40 or 460V revolver. I love the Desert Eagle, but in a panic moment I'm not willing to bet my life that I will have proper form shooting and not have a malfunction. Glock or Revolver better yet for me in big bear country. Great video and beautiful gun. I would-be gotten the 50AE, but in the communist state of Illinois where I currently live, they don't allow us to have 50 caliber guns. For some reason they think that their stupid laws/rules/orders will stop bad people from doing bad things. They are idiots. Thanks and take care. Oh, get the XS sights. They are absolutely great. MUCH BETTER than the original sights. I also put a Holosun enclosed red dot on the rail with the Primary Arms Vulcan Reticle. I could only find a crappy holster for it so far for the optic and a pretty nice Alien holster for no optic, but I don't carry it unless I'm on our property anyway. Not a pocket carry gun. I just wanted to have some carry options.
This is the first firearm I ever purchased. Would never sell or trade-in or allow a buy-back of Mjolnir. Some have balked at that admission; blah-blah out all kinds of reasons why I shouldn't have gone that route, only to reveal that they have never held--let alone fired--a DE50AE. Even with the standard non-compensated barrel, the recoil is manageable. The two issues that are more important for this piece: holding it correctly so that it cycles in proper fashion; and dodging hot brass coming almost straight back. The popular negative myths surrounding it are largely overhyped; sure it's a little snappy, but my Model .500 standard barrel hits the palm of my hand like a baseball being caught without a mitt--much harder than this. Definitely not an ideal EDC, both for portability and liability reasons; but I also would not regard it as a novelty--it does have useful application, demonstrably repeatable accuracy, and an unforgiving level of stopping power usually reserved for bigger revolver or rifle cartridges. Considering that the .357 and .44 models weigh the same but have less power, why settle? Start at the top! If you can effectively fire this, most anything else in the semi pistol branch is a cake walk.
@@GSquaredTactical If you havn't yet check out cj box books the joe picket novels they use a 454 casul in the dialog...another beauty of a gun....already subbed
I have an open carry holster for it I have the exact same one you do I'm not saying I carry it everyday but there's occasions where I carry my very expensive pretty gun outside I'm not going to have my gun any one of them sit in a safe lol
I’m with you man I carry, shoot and use all my guns. Now I don’t carry this one on my person but it is sometimes in the truck gun/night stand rotation. Thanks for watching and commenting and please be sure to subscribe if you haven’t already
@GSquaredTactical I don't usually sell guns I'm very selective lately occasionally I make impulse Buys recently bought a px-9 I really like it it's been my recommendation that everybody buy one for 320 to 350 bucks at least near me can't beat them
Great pistol, very nostalgic. I'd take it for bears or other large game, but it's not the first choice and definitely not self defense. Honestly only real way to carry that is a shoulder holster. That or you better have a really nice belt and holster to hold it up.
Is it though. I mean that's based on ballistic from Wildey themselves with a 12 inch barrel using a lighter bullet. And ballistics for .50 AE is almost exclusively done with a 6 inch barrel. I bet out of a 6 inch barrel they would be pretty close I've seen people chronograph loads for .50 AE of over 1900 ft/lbs that the .475 Wildey Magnum is quoted at from a 12 inch barrel. So the .50 AE might actually be slightly more powerful.
@rangerover06sc they say that the MR 50ae is the most powerful semi auto handgun in the world 🤷♂️. Thanks for watching and commenting and please be sure to subscribe if you haven’t already
Good luck trying to buy one now and be very wear because you can find the sites that are selling them online… but look very closely. They are fake a website just trying to harvest your credit card information so be very very aware.
3 guns stores within a 35 mile radius of us has 15 of them between to 3. I’ve never had a difficult time finding one of these. I don’t order guns online anyway. Thanks for watching and commenting and please be sure to subscribe if you haven’t already
