His vids are very therapeutical. I was depressed for two years. To a point where I experienced physical pain from it. I went to the doctor and he said I have signs of depression. For those two year I Refused to accept that I have depression. Then I started training MMA, Mixed Martial Arts and it all went away. I am not saying start doing MMA. Do something that you use to do or something that’s related to something you use to do when you where a young child, 3-7 years old. That’s when you where still strongly connected to your spirit. So what ever you did back than it was genuine. There was no other reason behind it other than you love doing that thing. Give Allen Watts a listen. I know this post is two years old but I hope You doing better.

The chief blunder was not capturing that A pawn. Dealing with connected passed pawns is extremely difficult when the opponent has the Bishop pair. On the other hand, here we have a kid vs the world champ and that does give Kasparov the psychological advantage. In a recent interview Carlson said that he considers Kasparov the greatest chess player who ever lived.

Instead of resigning, why not Nxe3 by Carlsen? Then bxa8Q, Rxa8, Bxa8, Nxf8, Kxf8, dxe5. Carlsen is down two rooks and a knight, gets a two pawns, a bishop and a rook, and is protected from checkmate from the rook by his dark square bishop. Is this too much of a winning position for White still? Am I missing something obvious why that's not worth pursuing? Thanks for the great insight!
@fitzgerald1337x
@fitzgerald1337x 4 года назад
I'm confused. I thought Magnus was playing with the white pieces here. Am I crazy or are you referring to Kasparov whenever you are discussing White's moves?

But In that position(where he resined) he could capture the e3 bishop and attacking bishop g2 and rook f1. Pawn captures a8 and get a queen, rook captures the queen, rook f1 moves and knight captures g2. Would be better.... I think so :D
@harold7792
@harold7792 2 года назад
Yes, Carlsen first could use his knight to capture the e3 bishop. But then Kasparov can capture that knight with his pawn. Still, in for example two moves, I think Carlsen will have to give up his b8 rook to capture Kasparov's b7 pawn. Carlsen can then capture Kasparov's other bishop. But, ultimately, Kasparov has a rook-to-a-bishop advantage over Carlsen, and with less pieces, in total, on the board.

Just do a google search for top chess books. There so many great books for beginners. That said, if you still don't know the basics get a book with general theory. If you already have a foundation try to find books that help you with your weaknesses. Also try to solve tactics puzzles often. Maybe get a separate book with chess tactics.

@harold7792

So, after the exchange (one possible scenario), Kasparov takes one of Carlsen's rooks, while Carlsen takes one of Kasparov's bishops. I guess, Carlsen feels that Kasparov's advantage regarding these pieces is enough to resign. On top of that, Kasparov has a passed pawn on his (white) queen side. Are these the two reasons for Carlsen resigning?

The one players that were still deadly in their older age was lasker and steinitz to some effect. But lasker used to beat capa and alekhine close to 60 . You are talking about someone who vanquished Tarrash ,( strongest player ever not to be champion apong with nimzowitch,) but no Kasparov would be dealing with young super GM's that grew up in the engine era
@brianbary1771
@brianbary1771 4 года назад
Sorry I didn't finish my players lasker vanquished , also marshall, steinitz , Tarrash like I said Carl Sletcher who was brilliant drew lasker but champ stays champ in draws . So many great players from that time . Alekhihe was a straight up coward would not give capa a rematch or play nimzo he would have lost to both .

UM, Kasparov is probably the #1 or #2 best overall chess player ever so it has nothing to do with Carlsen. Kasparov has been playing chess for like 50 years+ and he still was able to beat Hikaru Nakamura 3-2 in 5 blitz games not too long ago. So overall, Gary Kasparov is amazingly strong chess player. Carlsen, if he keeps playing will likely be the strongest ever
