I really enjoy your videos! I played Eve for about 6 months, learnt so much (overwhelming tho) but found it a struggle to find a corp that was actively helping newbros. The goon war was in full swing so might explain it. I was very invested in the game also (Omega plus alts etc) but ended up trying to make Abyssals, trading and explo my main focus. Looking back I should have tried more pvp. I want to return to the game and give it another shot. It really is a lot of fun, but almost requires you to find a fun community to play with.

Certainly, for a new player (esp. Alpha), this fit would be quite good, if expensive. I use an Ishtar because for the ISK, it's still the best rat killer in the game. This Gila fit costs 343 mil and with my skills does 690.9 dps (I'm guessing closer to 600-flat for a newbro?), and that tank is really good. However, my Ishtar uses drones only, gives me 733.8 dps and costs only 202 mil. That costs includes an 11 mil MTU, 5x Hornet II's, 5x Vespas, 5x Hornet ECM's, and 11 Wasps. Drones for days, an MTU, and only 202 mil. With no MTU and only the 5x Vespas mentioned in this Gila fit, it's 165.2 mil: Half the cost. So, don't think that the Gila is actually a replacement. It is very versatile and I'm sure there's some things it may be able to do that an Ishtar can't, but I'm not sure what that might be. Keep in mind for the Vespa II's you'll need to finish Drones V, and Medium Drone Specialization V. Until then you can just use the Vespa I's (Drones III, Medium Drone Operation I). If you're starting out, a Gila is an excellent way to go to rat. In Eve if you have the ISK there's always a way to pay out of skill limitations. The Gila is an example of this. If you have the extra ISK to pay for it upfront... definitely do it because if you're dps is anywhere north of 600, you'll pay for the 343 mil cost in a day or two of grinding the sites. Just pay attention to Local and be willing to leave your drones behind if folks warp in on you. A lot cheaper to buy new drones than a new ship. I warp in, plant my MTU, bookmark it, and then make sure I'm aligned out right away. If someone comes in, I nab what loot I can in the MTU beside me and leave. All they have is my drones and an empty MTU. If I'm in a carrier, I just call my fighters to warp back to me. By the way: There's 36 corporations with the name "Suspect" in it. What is the full corp name... or at least the insignia? It would help people find it. I was curious after watching these videos but didn't know which one to investigate. And, I found two characters in-game with "I-402" but neither suggest "Suspect"-anything, so also don't how people will find the corp in-game through a CEO who doesn't actually name himself in the video. Sorry. Eve is hard enough without the most pertinent corp info not being uttered in the videos.

Damn man I was gonna wait until I could get into an Ishtar and go ratting because I tried the Vexor and it has not enough DPS but I didn't think about the Gila! I just need like 5 days to train for the tech 2 drones, I think I'll use the faction ones until the skill completes

I've been thinking of coming back to the game after taking a few years off and I remember how popular the Gila was for ratting in null. Is the 100MN shield tank Ishtar still a thing?

I actually ended my ishtar train temporarily to get a gila, its just way less time and seems like a more versatile ship.
