Thanks for waiting, a lot of work went into this video. Hope you get something out of it!
SEWING TUTORIAL MCCALL'S 7442 - A lady-like tailored coat
Getting tired of frumpy winter coats? You can make a well fitted and flattering coat with this pattern. In this tutorial I'll teach you how to make this coat with details on the tough parts, like sewing the sleeves and buttonholes.
Coats are challenging to make but are well worth it. With a little practice you can make very high-quality coats for cheaper than the run of the mill ones in the shop!
Music used in this video are from the RU-vid Audio Library:

This was awesome, thank you! Not only did you make an entire coat, you filmed it, edited it, and shared it with us all! I'm totally new and picked up a few coat patterns for the future. I'll definitely be referring back to this video once I'm ready to start!

I have been combing through RU-vid for tailor/couture sewing tutorials. You are my favourite. #1 You get YT is visual not audio. So many others should be sticking to podcasts. They sit and talk. It's as helpful as someone trying to teach me to sew over the telephone. I LOVE YT because it facilitates SEEING how to do something. That's what you do. #2 You get that sewing is hands not your face. I was so excited at finding this one channel and the hostess seems nice but the camera is most often on her face. She even removes the camera at vital times to go back to her face. I'm so happy you show how you work and you make effort to angle so we can see. You should get an award. Thank you.

Really well done sewing and tutorial. I liked how you matched the seams in the sleeve area, sewing them down first. Note that in RTW (ready to wear) even expensive garments, when areas are fully lined, no seam finishes are needed or used. i.e. either finish seams or line, not both. That's part of the "payoff" of lining things.
@PrimaDressmaker
@PrimaDressmaker 3 года назад
Yes alot of people don't finish the inside seams but I'm cautious over fraying 😋

This is a good sewing tutorial without a any superfluous dialogue. A beginner should be able to follow along to make a garment that looks more advanced than they might otherwise tackle although this is by no means can be titled Tailoring.

Hello, thank you for the compliments. I simply meant tailored by the dictionary definition: smart, fitted, and well cut. Yes, this is not bespoke tailored project. I don't think we would would be following a McCall's pattern for that :)

Beautiful! The result was great and appreciate seeing the process. I want to buy this pattern but was wondering what 'partial lining' meant. Glad I can see from your video that the lining is adequate. I am going to use this pattern to make a crop jacket (which I cannot find a pattern for - modern or vintage! I want button up with round collar, not lapel v-neck). Can't wait to try and I will probably reuse for dress and light jacket as well!

Hi, most long coats are fully lined, but this one is only lined through the bodice. Sounds like you have some amazing ideas!
