⚙️ SHOW NOTES - EPISODE #76 - This might might be the perfect Christmas gift, beautiful and practical, and it's easy to make. The materials can even come from your scrap pile -- but we won't tell... In this episode Tom demonstrates the process of making one in solid cherry, an abbreviated version of a popular 2 part video series Tom made years ago (links below). Actually the cutting board isn't so “mini”, measuring about 9” x 13”. For some people, that's nicer than jewelry! (Closed captioned)

Great demo, Tom. If the feet are too tall for your liking, using a forster bit to bore a countersink on the board would work great to effectively shorten the height. An added bonus is that it looks a bit more elegant and purposeful than just slapping the feet on the bottom. (credit to MWA Woodworks for this tip)

I prefer this format. Music is subtle and evokes positive vibes. Much easier to follow without all the interruptions. Editing really helps those of us who are attention -span challenged. Good job! Please keep doing. Imho you're the best. Thanks.

Enjoyed the video. Have to ask. Is that a top to a mustard bottle on the titebond 3?

Yes it is. My wife noticed the old top was gummed up and replaced it with the mustard top. I never noticed the change somehow, but it does seem to work better at sealing and not drying up and blocking the flow than the stock nozzles…may sound and look strange but true 😎

I really enjoy watching yu!! This is the kinda channel I been looking for! I watched your other videos on the big end grain cutting board and it finally made me understand how its supposed to be so thank yu for the in depth straight to the point demonstrations on your work.

Love these types of episodes as a sequel you can move on to a 3D cutting board.

@@EpicWoodworking Thought with your math degree you'd be a wiz figuring out all those angles and grain orientations in your head then interpreting it all for us laymen like you always do, LOL..

Hey Tom! Is it a good or bad idea to run an end grain cutting board through a planer?
@philshock3805
@philshock3805 2 года назад
I've seen it successfully done but only with very light cuts and only when the back edge of the board is fully supported with a sacrificial piece of wood - otherwise massive blowouts. Might be better to fabricate a wrapped-frame jig of sorts? Haven't had the guts to try it but it is possible. (Not having a drum sander is the only thing that keeps me from making an end grain cutting board)
