@@michaelwerkov3438 The anhydride is hard to get since it's used to synthesize heroin.. In small amounts it'd be in something like aspirin synthesizing kits i believe. But you can have similar results or just a little less potent with just acetic acid & some catalyst I believe. There's also a plant that you can make the anhydride of, perhaps all of it is made from plants. I find this stuff interesting, I wanna study chemistry now and learn to do acetylation of a certain product..
@@michaelwerkov3438 It's normal in China... you can also get something like benzaldehyde or HBr easily and legal, but something other are extremely hard to buy with a personal ID like diethyl ether, sulfuric acid or acetone lol
I probably let some kind of impurity collect in the receiving flask but a normal simple distillation should be good enough to purify it. Acetic anhydride boils at 140°C so you want to collect the distillate at that temperature.
@@allenhonaker4107 It really just matters on what you're distilling/heating. Substances like HCl, Bromine, Chromyl Chloride, etc. always want to find a way to escape its container. Those substances can eat away the silicone grease. Concentrated sulfuric acid is resistant against those substances and is used as a grease when distilling/heating those substances. If the substance isn't really as reactive as the substances I listed, you could just go ahead and use silicone grease. You can correct me if I am wrong.
I had an explosive reaction between manganese heptoxide and silicone grease, surprised the f*** out of me .., I previously thought of silicone grease as mainly inert ...
The cheapest and easiest way I know as of now is the reaction of sulfur monochloride and anhydrous sodium acetate. This is a video showing the method: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-OrZ5Oa9K1R0.html&ab_channel=LabCoatz . Sulfur chlorides are nasty and dangerous compounds so you should only attempt doing that method if you have proper precautions and safety.
Acetic anhydride is basically just 2 acetic acid molecules bonded together and all the water molecules are removed. It wouldn't make any sense if you were to make an anhydride by adding water to the substance.
I don't know how to speak Spanish but I translated your comment and it didn't really help much. The translator said that you are making a video about Dr Stone? I'm planning to start the synthesis of the antibiotic(sulfanilamide) soon and the synthesis should be done by this year.
I use Google translate: yes, there is an anime dr stone and in one episode they make sulfanilamide, where they mix chlorosulfonic acid and acetanilide to make the antibiotic, and I'm going to make a video explaining how it would be done in reality life, but I didn't find anything on the internet and no video on youtube explaining how to do it
I definitely know about Dr Stone! It's my most favourite anime. There is actually a video series of a Japanese chemist synthesizing it from benzene. Here is the video of him doing the last step in the synthesis where he reacts chlorosulfonic acid and acetanilide: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-0HgB54fmSeA.html&ab_channel=レイユール It might be very hard to understand the reaction as he is speaking in Japanese so I will also send a link to a image which shows all the steps of the synthesis: media.cheggcdn.com/study/0db/0db3b7c0-251e-4791-bf36-144986d55189/13112-21.2-2EEI1.png
Acetic anhydride is no precursor to heroin. It is used to acetylate morphine into heroin. The precursor is morphine and not acetic anhydride. A precursor is a substance that can easily be converted into another without having to go through a complete synthesis. I would love to see how you convert acetic anhydride into heroin without using morphine. 😳🤪
@@kemalk-gt7cusulfur chlorides and sodium acetate is another route but sulfur chlorides smell ungodly bad. The 2 step method he's referring to is likely a ketene lamp, but ketene is insanely toxic.
@@EddieTheH sure you can acetylate anthranillic acid to make methaqualone and also you can use it with phenylacetic acid and a touch of stinky pyridine to make phenyl 2 proponone that makes almost exclusively German marching powder . It burns aswell but I wouldn’t advise using it to cook food with bit stingy on the eye!
