Apparently I said Tier 3 ships cost 750,000 dilithium in the game, that is not correct, I misspoke. Tier 3 ships cost 75,000 dil. Sorry for not catching that mistake sooner.

For that Elite Fleet Intervention Protomatter Deflector Array, there are only three choices at the Fleet Colony, and none of them have a +21.3 Hull Capacity [HullCap]. So where did you get it?

This is right at the level of info I need it to be at - not because I can't otherwise manage an Elite TFO, but because there were some lesser-known consoles, traits, etc. used to pull off an uncommon build strategy. I'm not a new player, or a free-to-play player, but I'm not spending like crazy in the C-Store, either. Watching top level build vids is entertaining, but this was far more useful to me... it gets into why the build works or doesn't work, rather than "use this trait with this skill and you'll be a god" build recipe given by many other Tubers. Great job, Stu. Now to rewatch with a notepad and a pen handy, I need to research some of these items in the Wiki myself...

Yes this one was far more useful to me than watching a top end everything, promo consoles, promo traits, etc. run... I don't like watching those things. I wanted something to help my own playing and since I'm a returning player, that had a few c-store ships, this worked out great.

Thought I should mention....the T3 Temporal Escort with the M6 Computer console is 75,000 dilithium, not 750,000 as you say in the video. If true, that would be one helluva dil sink. Don't give them any ideas like that...haha! 😅 Have been thinking about having a go a building something elite ready for when it comes to console. This will help, thanks.😊

Great build. I look to build this out whenever there is another bundle sale out. One thing I also mentioned on one of Augmented Dictator Games build videos that I will also mention here is your personal space trait selection and adding in selections for non alien characters that do not get the 11th trait slot.

Very solid build. Using the colony consoles with the isomags helps survivability in elite TFOs which become an endurance test because the other players are low dps, so you end up drawing so much threat.

i did a build with the klingon fleet carrier that was in the mudds bundle last month that did 1.5 mill damage ... that with the valdore console... woo. i never thought of that combo. i havent ran an elite sense they moved the omega stuff to the reputation area... imma have to give it a shot now.

I just wanted to say from 19:12, Fire at Will does have its own extension starship trait, it's called Redirecting Arrays. It can extend it to be permanently up to the global if you hold aggro.

It's not used because you cannot keep Fire at Will up 100% of the time, because Fire at Will has a minimum cooldown of 20 seconds, meaning that there is going to be 5 seconds where Fire at Will won't be up at all.

Console player here, so still awaiting the launch, but I can't wait! I already have all of my toons decked out with Isomags, and am just looking forward to hopefully having elites pop almost as quickly as advanced did. Trying to "random elite" these past several years could take well over an hour to load a TFO.

I would actually invest a few Lobi items especially if the total Lobi cost is under 1500 Lobi which you can get by grinding the event campaign. Other than that being budget concussion and recommending alternatives is always appreciated, since i want to replicate this build with a few minor modifications.

Very interesting and thought though "budget" build, on the topic of Fire at Will Extension Traits. i always thought Redirecting Arrays is the FaW extension trait, fits pretty good with the "tanking threatening theme".

Redirecting Arrays is only useful if you plan to be tanking, because that trait requires you to get shot at, meaning you need to both be pulling enough threat to get enemies to shoot at you, and have the survivability to withstand all those attacks

A ground version would great I have had some total disasters with random elite ground. I would love to see your take on a budget ground build for elite. I mostly just rely on my portable phaser cannon and obelisk network to carry me but both are out of reach of new players. I think the obelisks alone are over 30mil ec

I've been thinking about a group version of this, but I still need to think about how to format that one because you're going to have a lot more freedom on ground. In the meantime, you can check out the Ground Build Playlist on the channel, all of those are tested for Elite.

@@Stu1701 I was think more in terms of what you could do as a free to play/new player. I am actually be running a modified version of one of your builds. With the cost of ground equipment its nowhere near as expensive as outfitting a space build but still daunting to a new player.

Supercharged Weapons is the whole reason I use the Romulan Hyper Plasma Torpedo Launcher. Whenever the Romulan Hyper Plasma Torpedo Launcher fires, it launches 3 torpedoes, so you instantly get all 3 stacks of Supercharged Weapons, but I'm also not using a phaser build, I'm using a Piezo-Polaron build with the Morphogenic Polaron set. I don't get as high of DPS as you, but I'm still working on the build, I need to get another lockbox ship, some consoles from the Lobi store, and some of the Borg duty officers, after that I might break 300k DPS, but currently I'm only doing 120k DPS as an Engineer.

@@BlackOmegaWorks thank you, I never would've known, I assumed that because it launches 3 torpedoes that it would give you 3 stacks of Super Charged Weapons, but I just tested it because of your reply and you're absolutely correct, it does in fact only give you 1 stack of Super Charged Weapons.

Stu, don't forget FAW DOES have an extension trait: Redirecting Arrays. Granted, it's only useful if you're tanking but still. That being said, this is a fantastic build. I've been sleeping on command ships, but this video makes me want to use them more.

Redirecting Arrays is not a proper extension trait because it requires you to get shot at. This is not a true tank build, so I don't want rely on getting hit. It also only extends FaW to 15 seconds, while it has a minimal cooldown of 20 seconds.

Random question: Does suppression barrage work with the Ba'ul set's extra bounce(s)?

No, it will only apply with the initial attack from the ba'ul weapon itself. The refraction will do nothing but apply its extra bit of damage. That said, if I were building this for Antiproton, I'd still use Ba'ul.

I love your explanations of things and have learned a ton from watching your videos since I started playing again; however, it can be difficult to actually assemble the build in game as your videos are pretty long. I try to watch all the way through once for your metrics, but am nowhere near knowledgeable enough to remember it all and get it set up in game efficiently. Get an invite from someone who is in a "max" fleet. You stay within your own fleet but can use other fleets shops (just not ship vendors). Search fleet holding invite as there are a few details

Please clarify on Trilithium-Laced set, I don't think the omni and turret combination give a set bonus. I think you must use one of the energy weapons and a torpedo and/or Re-enforce Armaments Console to make set.

Correct, having the both Trilithium Omni beam and the turret on the same build will not benefit the set bonuses, both weapons will be counted as the same piece of the set. However, having both does give you a second chance at the haste proc they both have. They won't stack, but its still a second chance for the haste buff instead of just one. That's why I like to use both.

Not a bad idea if you're really struggling with survival, but like I said, this isn't a true tank. It's more focused on getting through the TFO alive than supporting the whole team.

Those protomatter colony consoles, aren't those only triggered by activating a weapons firing mode? Weapons fire shouldn't matter, only enabling the firing mode, but that means you can at best get a chance for 4x25% procs every 15 seconds per type of energy firing mode, so putting a cannon scatter volley just to trigger it might help since it has a different shared cooldown from fire at will.

Hi there! Let me start by thanking you for this build and a few others I've seen on your channel. Love them! Now for the question- I want to use the legendary Valdore with a plasma build akin to this. Would you happen to have any gear suggestions for it?

The Lukari reputation has some nice stuff for Plasma when you get it to Tier 6. The Piezo-Electric Focuser console and Advanced Piezo-Electric Plasma Beam Array. They'll help with shields and plasma damage, and the 2-piece will grant another plasma buff. There's also a Dual Cannon version of the beam array if you want to go with CSV instead. Assimilated Plasma weapons are nice for survival because they siphon off hull from an enemy and apply it has a hull heal to your ship. Though, they are from the lockboxes and are only available in various beam types (no cannon versions). Also, Legendary Valdore is a good ship, but it's not a Command ship so it won't have Suppression Barrage. Not saying you can't still go with this ship, just might want to keep that in mind.

I'm using the legendary Avenger with a CSV2 build with a little more high end gear for RETFOs because it's the most tanky ship i have. Only thing that can kill me is that goddamned feedback pulse of the Terran science ships. Solid budget build though. Except for all the C-store ship traits, which are a bit pricey.

This is why I hate doing budget builds. Everyone has their own definition of "budget", so inevitably, I get people complaining about what I used no matter what. As i said in the video, finding starship traits for budget builds is hard due to the very nature of most of them being attached to starship. I could limit it to just traits from event ships, but then I'll have people complaining about how they weren't playing when that event was live so they have no way to access that ship for free. This is why I go over the traits to explain what they do and why they're there, so if you don't have that trait, you can find an alternative.

@@Stu1701 Wasn't really a critique. Guess on the budget side, C-store ships and their traits are the most accessible still. So your definition of a budget build is still perfectly valid. And this low cost build seems to work pretty well for the purpose. I mean, i'm pretty much a F2P player and i still managed to grind out enough Zen for most important C-store ships, including the 10th anniversary and legendary Battlecruiser bundle. Even campaign rewards and anniversary giveaways also helped a lot. The grind was real though!

Any suggestions as to which KDF ship would you supplement the choices you put forth for? I main KDF and I hate using Starfleet ships, it just feels wrong. Or maybe some from unaligned/alien factions? Thank you!

The downside for KDF ships is that most of the similar ships to this are Legendaries. Legendary Bortasqu' and Legendary Vor'cha are both great options, but they're not exactly budget friendly (especially the Vor'cha, being exclusive to the 11th Anniversary bundle). There is the Ty'Gokor, it's a C-store ship and could do most of what I was doing on this build, though it is a bit dated at this point. Same with the Qoj, though not everyone is a fan of the Discovery Klingon looks.

@@Stu1701 My thoughts exactly, would you consider any Fleet ships as well? I have been looking into for example the Blackguard, Kolasi Siege Destroyer or Negh'var although the latter one does not have a hangar bay and all of these only have lieutenant commander command seat. Would it still be semi viable to run lesser version of Suppression barrage and concentrate firepower and no miracle worker seat? Thanks again!!

I wouldn't say it's dependent on it. Just substitute it with something similar, weather its something that helps with damage or survival, whichever you think you need more help in.

Stu, I've been playing STO since it launched, though I did take a 3-year break (moving to a new state, getting a house, starting a new job, adulting...). For a long time, your standard CrtDx4 anti-proton beams were the go-to for non-proc dependent damage. These were then enhanced by the Ba'ul set that let the beams chain. Personally, I don't find the special procs for most weapons particularly useful, since their proc rates at 2.5% aren't all that dependable. But, with a high Crit Chance, CritDx4 AP beams deal higher damage more consistently. That said, phasers still seem super popular. Besides the thematic aspect (Starfleet uses phasers) and their relative cheapness, is there another reason standard phasers are still so popular? Am I missing something or am I wrong about AP giving more consistently higher damage?

As Shadow said, but I know that the Alliance ships over the last few years have introduced more love/support for Antiproton weapons. However, bar none, STO has the most support for Phaser builds (Disruptors are second) in the game.

Were you playing when the Bajoran Interceptor Escort event ship came out? If so, then phaser is the way to go since it's an account unlock with phaser DMG and lots of haste. There is also a mission console with phaser too. Also there are Rep sets with +phaser set bonuses too. I still play AP on some of my chars, and it is still very viable if you do it right. For Stu's build in this video, colony tac consoles for AP will work just fine. There have been some +AP consoles from events over the years too, but I don't use the consoles anymore due to better consoles.

Thanks for doing this vid, I'm actually someone who've always done adv. content wanting to do elite but not sure how to build for it. Tbh, kinda surprised on a few of the comments. I mean worst case scenario if you don't have the gear, traits, etc see it as a foundation you can either work towards or work from. 1 question though, not related to the vid as this is not a tank build. Have you ever done random elite PUG in a tank? This is what I want to eventually work towards but not sure what to do when I end up in a TFO like the Swarm as a tank. Do you generally have the DPS to solo a lane? Or do you need to pair up with someone in a lane as you're more tank then DPS? Also, I know it's asked before but wouldnt mind a ground elite one. Even if it's not an actual build but more a balance scheme between DPS/survival and what options you might have if you keep dying.

As a full tank you can still get a good amount of damage output. I'd like to eventually get one set up for randoms. Just haven't had the time. As for a ground elite video, yeah, with how so people have asked for that, that's gonna happen.

Why was "Redirecting Arrays" (from the Tucker Tactical Miracle Worker Cruiser) not used to extend fire for will for this build? ["Redirecting Arrays - While Beam Array: Fire at Will is active, any damage that your starship receives will periodically extend its duration. Once per sec while Beam: Fire-at-Will is active, receiving Any Damage grants 0.33 sec Duration to Fire-at-Will (15 sec total duration maximum)."]

Redirecting Arrays is good for a true tank where you want to be taking threat all the time because that trait only extends FaW if you're getting shot, but this isn't a true tank. I was only taking about 50% of the threat, so there was no guarantee I'd be able to maintain Redirecting Array. Moreover, FaW's minimal cooldown is 20 seconds, so reducing it down to 15 means you're still going to have 5 seconds with no FaW. This is why I've been saying for ages that FaW needs to have its minimal cooldown lowered back down to 15 like the other firing modes and given a proper extension trait like all the other firing modes have.

Augmented Dictator Games tested a build that completely fed into that console, and it did only 918 dps. It sucks.

I'd love to see a $20 dollar build getting everything for ~250 mil off the exchange + reputation/episode/event gear on a character without maxed endeavours! As someone who's trying to get into elite TFOs and hasn't used the combat parser it's hard to tell what the difference between a 70k and 370k dps build are.

Legendary Avenger doesn't have a Command seat, so you won't have Suppresion Barrage. You can try it without it, but you may have to put effort into survival.

Just wanted to say I did my best to adapt this build to the Terran Pathfinder Warship, I don't have all the consoles/traits. I'm still a bit squishy but over all it performs well. I don't know the damage numbers but 🤷‍♂

Pathfinder isn't a cruiser. Or even a Warship, technically. It's a Science Warship, which is basically just a Science Spearhead with a spinal lance. Try it on a cruiser, they're better at tanking than Science vessels.

I think you might be wrong on the assumption that Overload would be bad for the Protomatter consoles. Beam Overload does EFFECTIVELY cut the fire rate in half, BUT: Regular fire cycle for beams: 4 shots over 5 seconds Overload fire cycle: 1 shot over 2.5 secs Yes, it fires less often. BUT it activates far more firing cycles. Same goes for Surgical Strikes, RRtW3, and somewhat for ERL.

Perhaps, but if Beam Overload is definitely bad for Suppression Barrage, so I still wouldn't use it for this.

I tried like 5 times to do one but I never actually got any Elite level TFOs. I kept getting the Romulan one with Nog.which is Normal only. (I did have Elite selected on the bottem of the TFO screen too so it's not that.)

SB3 not halves damage, it's -33% damage decrease..... because damage multiplier 100%/(100%+50% (SB3)) = 1/1.5 or 2/3 damage from enemy. But it's still good and useable ability for tanks

Then I suggest spending some dilithium and buying Phoenix Prize packs and trading in the prizes for Phoenix Tech Upgrades, because you definitely shouldn't be running random elites with gear that isn't Mk15. Don't worry about Epic quality just yet, Mk15 is the more important part.

Because haste is so important, is SS even recommended? It slows fire rate as well. (Running Vengeance Phaser SS)

Surgical Strikes and all the other Specialization firing modes wouldn't be recommended because they're all single-target modes. You need something that'll hit multiple targets at once for Suppression Barrage to work well.

Yeah, it's a full Command ship so you'll have the necessities you'll need from the ship. You may want to use Beam Arrays and go with a broadside build instead of a forward facing build because of it has a 4/4 layout, but it'll work.

And...I'd forgot I bought the Legendary Bortasqu which makes an excellent Command ship. I just did an Elite ISA and I don't think the Borg even singed my hull. Thank you!

I have a nice build for the battlecruiser command cruiser (science varrient) - Ive run a lot of STF and never been disappointed. Would you like me to build it up on the website and share it with you? I dont think you are close enough to new players to understand what a budget build is. You include a 3000 / 30 dollar ship trait and tons more. Yes its good, yes its endgame, but thats not what this build is about. Huh well I could share it here - Im shocked to see STO Acadmeny page just gone. I probably had over a dozen builds in there

@@Stu1701 Leaves large gaps in the gear and skills. Average player gona have gaps. Set up just wont work well at all with the missing Pieces. maybe 20-30% of players can build this build.

I'm sorry I don't have time or patience to make line of secondary accounts ready for your exact testing requirements. I'm sorry I used gear I already had instead of using a bunch of resources to craft new gear just to not have two extra modifiers that hardly make a difference. Legendary Galaxy would be better..... Easier to get, comes with a reasonably good console, 5-3 layout, gives you the option to do a Canon, beam or mixed build. Still has some command seating.....

Oh, you mean Legendary Galaxy Dreadnought. When you just said Legendary Galaxy I thought you meant the one from the 10th Anniversary bundle, which is definitely not easier to get lol But yeah, Legendary Galaxy Dread would also be a great option for this build. I hadn't considered it for this video originally because I was only looking at full Command ships. Leg Gal Dread in an Intel ship. But you're right, you could easily make this sort of build work on it.

@@Stu1701 yes bro you hit the nail on the head it's the legendary Galaxy dreadnought. It does tend to work out best for energy builds because you get that cool phaser Lance that's built in. However it doesn't do so much damage to offset your ability to do a torpedo build. I find the ship to be very versatile you can be a DPS, Spike, or Tank depending on how you set it up. I feel like it kind of gets ignored left out and forgotten. When in reality it's actually a very versatile and fun ship that can easily still put out great numbers and or stay space Barbie, cannon accurate while doing it.

Those fleet consoles are hard to get, I have five main characters and only one of them qualifies for them and I have to ask permission. And that's only if you're up high enough on colony, level 5 in your fleet. That's going to be over a year for a lot of your viewers.

I've been playing for a few weeks now and ended up joining a fleet with everything unlocked. Turning in some dil and fleet marks got me the currency I needed already. It's not really going to take a year unless you stubbornly stick with a new fleet imo.

Yes, a very few fleets will level you up right away, most of them, you have to earn and contribute enough fleet marks to get the consuls. Getting fleet consoles right away is a rarity and you’re a lucky person if you’re able to do that.

For those of us that do not have access to a maxed out level set of FLEET HLODINGS to go shop at. Most of the builds you show have large gaps we have zero access to. But it's should be simple for any free 2p to get. pff. come on man. you ain't thought like a freeper for a long time.

Don't forget people can actually extend invites to a fleet holding. This way, if you know someone in a "max" fleet, you can use their holding to buy stuff

He's also never been a F2P person, he's been playing Sto since the very beginning, before it became F2P. Also, just ask someone to invite you to a fleet holding map if your fleet doesn't have it
