One thing I forgot about from the Gamma Reputation: Ordinance Accelerator! Lowers the shared cooldown of your mines and buff projectile damage, great for a torpedo/minelayer build. Also buffs Phaser and Polaron damage so could be a good budget console for those two damage types.
Nit-pick - it's "ordnance", not "ordinance". One has to do with weapons, the other has to do with rules and laws. Funny because initially in-game, it was misspelled as "ordinance" and then corrected later.
OMEGA REP: Unlocking the Klingon Honour Guard uniform is also cool from Omega Rep. Not so much the gear. It's fine, but the "space barbie" as you guys call it. That's the real end game right?
This is a really helpful video. Even after playing STO for a couple of years, there's a lot of stuff here I had no idea about, because the game really doesn't do a great job in pointing you towards it
"the game really doesn't do a great job in pointing you towards it" Totally agree user-gh mate. I've been playing for yeeeears and I'm still grateful for channels like this and my fellow fleet mates who swap tips and build ideas.
I'm kind of surprised you didn't include the Energy Requencer. That and History Will Remember are the only healing type traits I use. With those traits, the Tilly two piece bonus set, the 2 colony consoles and 1 Lukari BO for the Restorative Protomatter Specialist trait are all the healing I have. I currently have no clicky heals so I rely on passive heals and a lot of resistance. I play as a offensive threat tank on Elite using the Inquiry Battlecruiser on both my tactical and engineer. I am not chasing DPS but I figure I'm doing around of 200K.
Hey man,. tons of good info, but I'm having to rewind over and over ;cause you're cutting thru this wayyyyy too fast! Dunno if you're talking fast to keep the video in a certain time, or if that's just how you talk... either way, dude, pls, for us slow pokes, slow down a bit! LOL
Thank you for this video! I've been hearing about a "reputation store" for years but have never been able to figure out exactly what people were talking about. Seeing you click that "Store" button 2 minutes and 11 seconds into the video is revolutionary! Thank you for pointing out what I'd somehow missed for over 7 years.
God knows many of the Reps could use an update. Think i've never ever used any gear from the Nukara rep. And there definitely are too few omnis overall.
I use the fleet Engel strike wing escort with DBB'S and the voice of the prophets experimental weapon and assimilated 2 piece set. With how fast I drop shields, the VotP and kinetic cutting beam really get to shine well surprisingly.
It really does in comparison to the others just from the shear amount of powerful stuff in there. The weapons set, the core set, and most of the ground gear is all very useful.
Great vid! A console worth mentioning that's great for drain builds is the Nukara Particle Convertor. It has a nice buff to DrainX and the Nukara Munitions 2 piece also give a good buff to DrainX even though drain builds are super niche builds
I believe with many of the special weapons you get a better version of them if you get to at least rank 5? I haven't grinded through these Reps for a very long time. I have rank 6 in all of them.
Not necessarily a better version, just a different version with a different damage type. Like the dual beam bank from the Discovery rep, you get the phaser version first and get a disruptor version at tier 6. Beyond the difference in damage type, they're the same weapon.
You mist something critical!!! Romulan reputation has the best looking shield in the game. The Reman Covariant Shield Array has been the best looking shield in the game since forever. Just put it in your vanity shield slot not in your actual shield spot unless you want the set bonus.
hunh, surprised at how little you mentioned ground stuff. Certain rep kits are crap, but some are uniquely overpowered abilities that redefine ground builds in general. Honestly, the best ground thing from Nukara is the sword. used to be the best melee weapon in the game, and if you want a pseudo-light-saber? it's not bad. One unique thing from Romulan rep are consumables that summon allies to help you. Undine rep kits are... specialized... too specialized in that they have stats that are only really good vs Undine. although this variant of sonic Pulse actually does RADIATION damage instead of physical.... if you somehow want more of that. Delta Rep has Neutronic radiation variant modules. These are nice since they have a bigger AoE than their basic counterparts(photon grenade, hyper radiation, and Quantum Mortar) but they also give enemies hit by them a damage reduction debuff. Iconian rep has non-variants. Photonic barrier generator(Eng) is a pretty powerful defense turret. Photonic overload(sci) is another rad ability, but not really damage oriented, more of a debuff, though it does blind and reduce enemy damage. Photonic overcharge(tac) is a weapon damage buff. Terran TF tac: microtorpedo, works like a grenade, but it's not one it's a heck of a lot faster. Eng: override shield safeties... is weird. give you shield resist buff for a few secs then damage any enemies near you. Metaphasic rejuvenation(Sci) this is a pretty unique kit in that it's an AoE that rezzes other players in the AoE. Also it heals whoever is there too. Temporal rep: Anti-Time thingy(Sci) a pretty nice space magic damage power on ground. Bio-harmonic emitter(eng) one of the best health heals on ground.. invaluable for pet spam engineer build as it heals your TURRETS and assimilated enemies. Chron-microtorp(tac)... it's another microtorp, BUT this is a cone attack. Two of the Lukari mods are electrical, and are DoT effects. Tac gets a grenade, Sci gets an electric AoE attack,. Eng gets a drone that is a portable heal AoE. Doesn't heal fabrications though. Flare Mortar from comp rep.... is the most useful of the Comp rep kits... and is for Eng. Flare Mortars in TFOs do weird shtuff. The trick is that they are an AoE effect that reduces enemy perception..... IE it BLINDS every enemy in the area. BUT it also gives your allies a dodge bonus, so even if the enemies do attack you, it's less dangerous to you. The Science one is that weird power pole gimmick where it has lighting that damaged things that pass between the poles... really hard to use. tac is a pseudo grenade that makes a bubble around the enemy that will damage them if they try to leave. But the AIs will just hhold still and force you to MAKE them leave, and well.. it's not that great for damage. Gamma has a decent mine variant for Eng, Sci is a.. special hypo for resistance to physical and kinetic damage. It also clear debuffs applied to the target... if you care about that. Tac is a pretty nice TEAM buff. Bonus damage and run speed that has the duration extended by killing enemies. Probably stacks with motivation too. And well you talked about the disco stuff. But yeah, some are niche, some suck, but some are REALLY good. :D
I wanted to keep this more generalized. a lot of the ground stuff is very career specific. the tholian sword is not bad, but it's certainly not something I'd call a must-have. the Mind Meld Device is far better for a melee build. The Photonic barrier is good for survival, but with the Mudd's Time Device coupled with Na'kul shield, survivability shouldn't be a problem. This is really only useful for Invasion Simulations on the fleet colony. The Micro Torpedo doesn't really do much damage. Flare mortar is more annoying than anything else. Override Shield Safeties is shields. You know how we feel about shield buffs here. Bio-harmonic emitter is heals. Again, you can do just fine with Mudd's and the Na'kul shield. The video is called "Must-have reputation rewards" so why would I talk about the things that are just meh?
@@Stu1701 Heh, Some of these are much more useful than lockbox kit modules. Yeah I covered the entire list, and some are not worth using. But some are things I use a LOT in builds. Bio-harmonic is something I like a lot because it doesn't care about range, and for that reason I use it in.. not every eng ground build but more than one.... and it's usually the only heal in the build. One of the important parts is that you can use it to heal other players on the other side of the map! Also it used to be one of the kits that would turbocharge the CD reset on Mudd's. Enh. Like you say they're not "essential" for general builds.. but.. a few are killer in the right build.
Given the recent Jem’Hadar rerun, & having used it in the past & had it from when it originally came out in year dot, it has some features that redeem it still, like weapon buffs. A shame that most of the set is now nerfed, though it wasn’t great in the 1st place. Always felt like I was flying a ‘glass’ ship when using it. Though not a rep set, just thought it was worth a mention
I already have one on the Phoenix store. It was before the store was revamped, but the items that are good in there hasn't really changed. Dil and Lobi store could be good idea too, I'll add them to the list!
The hardest part of the grind is getting the special consumable items for obtaining the gear. Like Borg Neural processors are probably the worse. All other reps have battlezones to get these types of items. The only way you can get borg neural implants is to either trade in marks for them or play elite borg TFOs. Others like the one for the Terran and temporal reps you can get by fighting Terrans in the Badlands. Fighting in the Battlezone can get you the items for both reputations. Lukari requires you to fight in the Gron Cha battlezone which they can be a little more difficult to deal with. Undine and Dyson reps you have to fight in battle zones in the Solonae Dyson Sphere. The New Romulus one is fairly easy by doing stuff on New Romulus and patrols in their space and has no special items to obtain its gear other than marks credits and dilithium and expertise obtaining rank 5 unlocks the Reman race for an option for the Romulan faction captain. Delta and Iconian are the special items to trade in for the gear are only obtained by trading marks for them or elite TFOs for them. The Gamma Task Force is taken over regions from the hurq in the Gamma Quadrant.
For Borg Neural processors, you need to go to Defera. The Borg are invading there in a Battlezone, but it is ground fighting only. TFO;s are the only place to get them in space.
What I am interested in is more a vanity thing what do I need to get to change my ships warp effect to sound like the warp effect from Discovery? I know it's out there I here it from other ships all the time or is only on a specific ship?
For the most part, warp effects are faction exclusive. To get the Discovery warp effect you need to play a Discovery-era character. There are a handful of ships that have their own unique warp effects, but even then, those are exclusive to those specific ships.
Honestly, you should do all the recruitment events once. It really helps that they're finally at a point where they can run each one once a year now so newer players can get those rewards.
@@Stu1701 i started playing sto when the delta recruit was on, a couple of months ago, lucky me, without knowing a thing about the game, i chose it...got the tos as well, and today, after 20h playing the jem'hadar got the jackpot from both. been using this video as a guideline, have to thank you for making my head hurt a litle less!
So I feel you skipped over carrier or swarm builds in your review. I just found out about the lukari shield heal capabilities - which may not be meta- is nice when you have hanger pets or in a jem'hadar ship. There's also the really high DPS scorpion pets from the romulan rep system. Again they may not be meta and I may be an old hat but it's an easy way to get heavy hitting pets when you're not kdf aligned.
