Good call since wanting Riley to be gay doesn’t even make sense continuity wise since she was already into boys in both the first film and the short film tie in Riley’s First Date.

When I watched the first trailer for this movie, I was absolutely, 100% certain they would make the girl fall in love with that chick. And it seems it was their first idea to do so. Lucky them they backtracked, orherwise it wouldn't have made this much money.

The same gender kiss in Light year definitely had a massive impact on the film as I know many many people that still to this day refuse to let any of their kids watch it

Buzz Lightyear's script was bad. It just wasn't a good movie. There were some good city scenes but really it was bad. Very underwhelming. The people who worked on the film and got fired should get their pay and bonuses. Also this makes the film better to be shown in China.

Making kids animation films successful is not that hard (conceptually). Just look at the ones that did amazingly well. Frozen, penguins, lion king, etc. Massive innovation isn't required. Quirky likable characters, good catchy music and actually funny humour for both adults and children.

I remember hearing that there were lots of hints a while ago that Riley would be gay or transgender from stuff on Reddit. Sounds like they may have been true but Pixar have removed them.

It's interesting that the people working for the studio sound very similar to the online commentary for Disney companies as a whole which is, how much longer can you make these films that seem to flop and lose money.

Normal parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles etc just don't want sexualised content for their young family members; unfortunately that is all lgb etc is about - highlighting sexual preferences - so that sexual content is unavoidable with that as the focus. You could have gay characters, but there would have to be no focus on their sexuality, which is not what activists want, obviously.

That was definitely the right move..., you can't put lgbt stuff in kids movies. PERIODT. I, in fact, did not watch Lightyear with my little kids because of that kiss, sry. Disney can use Hulu for lgbt context, not Pixar films who are mainly targeted for little kids and families. Illumination and Dreamworks don't do that either... Netflix is full of lgbt representation, so I'm not sure why Disney/Pixar would even think about including those type of inappropriate topics in kids films. Inside Out 2 would have flopped so hard if they would have made Riley gay..., it would have been banned in several countries and MANY parents wouldn't have payed for it, that's for sure.

Good also them complaining further makes more suspicious of why the woke seen to push what they wanted in this film or otger examples but in stuff involving older more adult looking characters especially female ones real or fictional they hate with a passion especially if its romance or lust between a guy and a good looking woman even when its in a product for older teens/adults they still complain yet defend stuff like suicide squad poison ivy etc

its not about straight vs queer. the issue is SEXUAL content. 'representation' is just camouflage being used to expose children to sexual content. there were other 'mommys and daddys' in children's entertainment because it was assumed the viewer would have a mother and a father (a reasonable assumption i'd argue)... but they werent SEXUAL. that is the difference. they almost never flirted. they didnt kiss. they werent touchy feely. they were naught but the epitome of parent. and, quite frankly, there is no way to introduce the concept of homosexual without also introducing sexual. so liberal minded people with the very best of intentions find themselves supporting children being introduced to sex. few decades ago you hit puberty, hormones told ya there *something* really interesting about some people. so you started investigating, and got your explanations. the birds and the bees chat, if you will, however the details of one's education went. but now... kids are being exposed to these topics long before puberty rather than seeking it out themselves. so of COURSE they are confused, they dont HAVE desires yet. except now they think they are supposed to, which leaves them insecure about themselves and open to suggestion. i dont think i need to explain how that is dangerous... but i DO think someone needs to explain how it wasnt intentional. be very interested in that explanation to be honest.

You keep saying "don't pander to the minority" and "don't show these things to families" but have you thought about how a single 5 second kiss scene is not even "pandering" and it's not "shoving it down your throat"? Also have you thought about how "families" could mean two dads? Yes that's right, there are families out there where there are two dads now or two moms these days in the year of our lord 2024. This existence of gay parents has been public knowledge since at least the late 90s I would assume. So no, I don't agree that having a single kiss between two female characters is insane pandering. It's really unremarkable if you ask me. Haven't you seen Alien Resurrection? Remember when they are trying to land the ship on Earth and Ron Perlman's character is so damn happy that they made it out alive at the end that he gets up and kisses the paralyzed guy on the lips and smiles? WOAH LGBTQ PANDERING! STOP THE WOKE MOB! NOT IN MY SMALL TOWN! Chill. It's a kiss. Not a makeout scene. Not a making love scene. Literally a peck on the cheek. Don't clutch your pearls so tight. Disney is stupid if they think that 5 seconds is what made Lightyear bad. That movie has about 50 things that it did wrong and the one scene where two old ladies kiss during one's birthday party is not one of them.

Now in defence of Lightyear, I’ll preface with the fact that I will never think it appropriate to have LGBTQ or anything else to do with sexuality in a Pixar first and foremost cos the first target audience is children, that being said, the Lightyear moment was very slightly above blink and miss it; again I don’t think it appropriate in a children’s film but if you’re subtle they won’t notice, I almost didn’t

Disney learned the wrong lesson. This shouldn’t be praised. There’s nothing wrong with gay representation in family films. Disney does bad representation then blames it on the queer community for their films not doing well.
