Great tips, especially on cleaning the air valve. I never knew that brass sleeve was removeable. When I want to clean my needle packing area, without removing it, spray carburetor cleaner in there. The can of cleaner has those skinny straws that attach to the can, so you can get the cleaner right in the packing area. Thanks for the videos.

yes ive used carb cleaner before. but tend to stay away from solvent cleaning in the house and of course keep it away from the rubber parts :)

Such an informative video!! Many thanks. I’ll be getting an Eclipse (and the $100 tool set) as my first airbrush bc of your help. I’ll buy via your link to amazon when ready. Do u wear a respirator when you work w the airbrush? Any respiratory fears w using an airbrush? I’m a model railroader so will be weathering track on the layout w fan close by and garage door open. Otherwise I’ll use a vented paint booth for structures/rolling stock - any recommendations on booths?

I should, but do not always wear a mask or respirator. I have a filter system home built behind my easel (which is why it looks so ridiculously messy ) I am looking at ways to improve that. At the end of this month, ill definitely be redoing my easel set up,. and small spray area. I have not bought a premade paint booth. they are just too small for the work I do. on very small things... and detail paintings a booth or respirator is not much of an issue. for basepainting models and large paintings and heavy spraying of course it is very important! Thank you!

Yeah that kits a lot for what it is.. I have searched all over for the right ones outside of the kit. And the problem is different brands have different diameters, iwatas kit at least has one for the micron and the eclipse sizes. Its ridiculous noone has come up with a set for all sizes yet.

Great job very informative. Have you used a sonic cleaner after a complete disassembly? I just started air brushing in the past month to color leather projects; now I can’t put it down… I have fumbled and spilled paint into the gun, bent a needle, and waisted a bit of paint. I get runny lines when I attempt dots or details, 3-4 inches back goes well. Anyway thanks a million.

I do not use ultrasonic cleaners regularly. I have in the past done that but I dont have one here.. so I just rely on old fashioned cleaning. if I soak them at all its definitely a complete disassembly all o rings- air valve etc. Thanks!

When I have a similar problem with my Eclipse HP SBS, replacing the nozzle always fixes the problem. Do you have any experience with these or know of a problem? I know I shouldn't be going through nozzles this bad! When finished cleaning with brushes I soak them in airbrush cleaner. I am very careful when cleaning and brushing.
@TheAIRspace
@TheAIRspace 3 года назад
you shouldnt be going through nozzles on the eclipse very often. Because of the nooks and crannies in there I found I use a dental brush on them to get the larger opening and then go in with a striping brush or liner brush artists use. soaked in cleaner and they clean up well. I have several ecplises. The SBS rarely ever encounters problems with the packing because it doesnt have paint sitting in there like a gravity feed. Actually I dont think ive ever pulled the one on my side feed eclipse and ive had it years. The only reason to replace a nozzle is when it gets flared out or damaged from a bad drop. if you saved your old nozzles try an overnight soak on them and some brushes. I haven't bought a nozzle in a long time for my eclipse. Much like you i probably replaced a few early on.

Any oil? Iwata come with oil don’t know where to put some needle?
@TheAIRspace
@TheAIRspace 3 года назад
No oil. and i highly recomend tossing away the iwata super lube (unless they changed massively.) It is gummy and dries up. and tends to collect a lot of debris.. i dont think I know anyone who uses it. If you want to lube your airbrush this is what I use amzn.to/3coSLwU ***disclaimer I participate in amazons affilliate program and do earn compensation when people purchase through said links**** with the disclaimer mentioned that and devilbiss spraygun lube are the only lubrication if any I use. I used the iwata superlube, and realized i had to completely dissasemble and remove all of it in short order switched and never looked back.. i have probaly 10 bottles of the stuff laying around in original packaging boxes. (ive bought a lot of airbrushes)

Hello, I heard that it is possible to use mineral oil or lubricant on a trigger to make it goes smoothly. Maybe you know about it or you have any advices?
@TheAIRspace
@TheAIRspace Год назад
mineral oil is a bad idea. stick with either spray gun lube, badger regdab or the newer iwata lube. the old blue stuff got very sticky but the clear stuff is much better. With that said i dont use lube on my airbrushes almost never. Being it is designed to stick to stuff... stuff sticks to it as well adding dirt and grit over time. Not really a big deal except if it gets in the trigger plunger area and can actually cause sticking of the air valve. But people are divided on it.. some swear by lube, some dont. i can say unless an airbrush is really coarse it does not make a huge difference. Most slightly gritty triggers will get better as they get used pretty quickly.. usually the case of some machining left over which begin to wear smooth.

Could that cause the needle going back further before paint sprays out
@TheAIRspace
@TheAIRspace 2 года назад
the needle needing to go back further before paint comes out, comes down to either the paint is very thick, or the airbrush nozzle is not completely clean.

@@TheAIRspace thank you Bill I was spraying createx white at the time so to thick could be it I have trouble with thinning especially whites I was using an Iwata Custom Micron with a. 23 needle/nozzle
