I always get so happy when you post its like taking a course! Your so informative and I appreciate you sharing with us your favorites. I have been struggling finding a good foundation and a more natural lash for a while. Birthday coming up so Im definitley going to look into the Dior highlight as well.

Thank you for this video Ruby. I would really like to see a video where you talk about how to decide the best foundation color for different skin colors. I am a makeup artist but I still find it difficult sometimes.

@@julieruby I’m sorry Julie, haha. I know right? It’s such a difficult subject. Most of the times I get the shade right, but sometimes I will finish an entire makeup look thinking it’s the right color. But when I look at it in daylight I regret the foundation color I put on the client. 😓

@@nani5861 No worries!! And yes it's always so frustrating when that happens. I always try to do makeup in natural light if I can because of this but I know that's not always an option.

I’m glad this really helped! Just a note, I know you want to make sure your apps are perfect before doing it on clients but you also need to just get your hands dirty. Make sure you are practicing on models / non paying people so you can get practice applying makeup on others. It’s a whole different ball game than just doing makeup on yourself :)

Love all the info and tips. I only have 1 hygiene thing I noticed. You put the glue applicator straight onto the lash band after you put it on the eye for measuring. I'd use a disposable liner brush to apply the glue. Unless of course you're giving the glue to your client. :)

Finally able to watch your video. Thank you so much for taking the time to demonstrate your products. Question: how does the FA foundation compare to the new MUF foundation? I received the MUF in my kit so will use that first to practice but am curious.

Hi Canela! Thank you for taking the time to watch it :) I haven’t had a chance to try the new MUFE so I’m not sure!! I’m not sure what it’s base is but the FA is silicone based which makes it pretty unique.

It was just an elf brush! Although I absolutely love the Face Atelier brushes the best for bronzer and blush :)

Thank you! The FA is really a game changer! If it’s a really simple look like this I’ll take anywhere from 35-40 mins. If it’s more dramatic it could take 45-50.

Love your large concealer brush! What is it? Looks like a artist brush. I love using a concealer brush for applying product as well.

This one actually is a paint brush! I don't like it for clients since it isn't synthetic, but I ran out of my normal brushes because of a large wedding I did the day before filming haha

@@SimonneBee No! since it's meant for painting it's made from goat hair so its more coarse! Again, I don't use them on my clients. These are just brushes I tried and didn't like so now I just use them on myself lol I normally use brushes I found off Amazon that are perfect for concealer and foundation apps!

Loved this video! So that’s an awesome idea how you try and keep doing things as the lashes are drying. I tend to just dry them with my little fan when I’m doing clients but how exactly do you set them down so they don’t stick to anything?

Thank you so much :) Yes it's always important to multi-task and try not to stand around without doing anything. I usually just set them down on my palette upright very carefully haha

Omg yes! I do a better job on my clients! Especially with fake lashes, I always have them wonky on myself but on my clients they dont budge🤣🤣. Would you be down to do an in depth video on color theory? When you mentioned how the eyeshadow on you looks cooler because of your skin tone it made me think of when I used a red eyeshadow on a dark skin lady and it came out fuschia on her eyes! To he honest i still dont understand how that happens all i know its color theory supposedly 🤣❤️

Haha I'm glad someone else feels the same way! I have thought about doing a video on color theory, but I've never really taught someone that before and I'm afraid I wouldn't explain it well enough! Its honestly more trial and error than anything as far as which colors look best on which skin tones. Color theory more so just involves foundation/concealer matching and color correcting.

Wow tysm for such a helpful video!!! Question 🙋🏻‍♀️ when it comes to lip products, what do you use if clients ask for matte finish, long lasting formula,glossy, etc…? Or do they just go with what you have? Also where do you buy those foundation for your clients?

You are so welcome :) I don’t personally have many clients that ask for matte finishes since it’s not really on trend that much. If they do, I just go over the lips with a translucent powder. Obviously for gloss you just add a clear one :) I get most of my makeup off Camera Ready Cosmetics because of the pro products and the discount. I linked everything in the description!

And it depends on my clients as far as who I do makeup better on. I am amazing at working with teen to like 40 yr old women, but I still struggle working on mature women. Eyeshadow is the hardest for me on really textured, wrinkled lids. And some of my clients who are in their 50's will show me a picture of an airbrushed, Instagram model with a huge wing and flawless Eyeshadow. I'm curious to hear how u deal with requests like this when u know in your heart that it's not gonna turn out good 😬 I try to kindly deter them from their request but when someone is adamant, I'll do it, but really feel disappointed in the look later on

Doing makeup on mature skin is definitely something I still struggle with as well! I think it's more so just your perspective though. Makeup is seen as this end all be all thing and artists always get disappointed when they can't make it look perfect. However, makeup will only turn out as good as your skin and sometimes it will make the texture look more textured because it is makeup! It's an extra layer you are putting on the skin. They are obviously ways to improve the looks, but for the most part it's going to turn out as good as their skin is!

As you saw, I put mine in those sample jars and since they’re airtight they haven’t dried out :)

I haven't found one yet! Hardly any drugstore brands are silicone based. It's VERY hard to find! I know the FA is pricy, but I honestly have never found a better foundation so I do think it's worth to bite the bullet!
