Hey! I am not going to be selling it to the public only because it’s something I exclusively curated for my brides :) I mainly included the things that I talked about in this episode just more in depth!
When you said "four out of five people are allowing me to film", do you have them sign something or just ask? I feel like a lot of women in their 40s and above will decline because they don't want to show their makeup free face. Then it is hard to build a portfolio of before and afters of natural/neutral makeup. You need the before to see the difference. Also, do you include eyebrow grooming (trimming, tweezing) or just taming and tinting? I feel like changing eyebrow shapes is a big deal.
Great question! I normally ask their verbal consent at the time, but I will also give the bride a heads up in advance :) Some people do not want to be on camera which is completely understandable. This is why a lot of the times you'll have to do model calls of some kind to get your content for your portfolio. I don't do any eyebrow grooming personally.
I was listening to this on my way to my trial ( in my car) and omg Julie as usual you were so HELPFUL! I m always insisting my brides about their clothing for the trial and after I listened to you and went to my trial I decided to ASK! for it and the differences are night and day!
This was so helpful! Thank you so much for always having the best most informative topics ❤ I love this podcast so much! Ugh we started liner today in makeup class and I struggled so much. We don’t have a gel liner (I swear by the inglot one you use) instead it’s a cake liner that we have to mix on the palette and it was just a mess. I don’t understand why it’s not gel lol. I’m also having issues with the cream foundation palette and I’m so over it! I can’t wait to use my own makeup again. But I’m just going to keep doing my best and try to master all the products we have, it’s just stressing me out!!! I will be watching a bunch of your older videos for all your tips and tricks. I just wanna be a master at makeup like you already haha! Years away from that but it’s fine, we’ll get there! As always, I appreciate you and your content so much, you have no idea how much it helps me on my MUA journey ❤❤❤ have the best rest of your summer gorgeous!!!
Aww I'm so happy to hear that! Eyeliner is a struggle anyways, but cake liner makes it 10x worse! Having your own supplies that you know works well is always the best. keep pushing and practicing girl, you'll get there!
I’m 44 and autistic and I want to become a makeup artist, especially for women over 40, but it is an expensive career and very subjective. I love the artistry and love to teach people but the social/selling aspect makes me worried I will not be able to do well enough to build a regular/growing clientele.
Hey! I know it’s hard but don’t let this stop you! I’ve seen people do incredible things in this industry. You just have to be willing to put in the work :)
For the cream lipstick depot pallate, at 5:44 when you scoop out product n then place it on the clear pallate and then a brush, can't i just use the brush directly on the lipstick pallate? But not re-dipping, in the same manner as the mascara
@@julieruby is it wrong/unhygienic if I use a lip brush directly on the lipstick pallate (without re-dipping) rather then what you did which is scooping out some lipstick on the clear pallate and then using a brush to apply the lipstick
@@gia-ivlved Not necessarily as long as you get a new applicator each time. However, working off a palette is a good hygiene practice in general to get yourself used to.
Then When we were done Shopping at Lululemon and Sephora. We went to go get food at the Food Court and J pulled out her IPhone 14 and started Calling her friends and saying loook at my cousin she is a big baby. Then she started making fun if me for my IPhone SE which still work's. Then we went to Kohl's for swim suits And J got a thong Bikini and laughed at me for having a Bikini what wasn't a Thong. Then during the car ride she laughed at me calling me mean names like a baby and stuff like that. So that's my story sorry if it's pretty long
I Have a Younger cousin who is 11 years old (I'm 12) her name (For Privacy reasons) J. J is obsessed with Sephora, Ultra, Lululemon, Aviator Nation Etc. I remember going to Sephora with my aunt and J. She bought almost $700 worth of makeup and Skincare. While I bought Some Sephora brand Makeup and just one Lip balm. Then we went to lululemon because my aunt needed a new belt bag. My cousin bought like I'm not joking 2 leggings and 5 belt bag's when I just bought a key chain. Then she always makes fun of me for it and I don't care at all
I think you gonna be more diverse than a makeup artist , like esthetician diploma gonna give you more options to earn money but definitely first it will be your interest, what actually you wanna be waxer, body massager, specialist in facials, pedi manicurist. I m looking forward to your journey and wish you all the best 👍
what would you do if a client told you exactly what they want (even with photos) and the professional made a totally different thing and not only that but also tried to make you believe that is what you wanted (obviously is not the case)
It's always a little bit frustrating when artists tend to think they know what's best and do not truly listen to the client. It's a learned skill from an artist's point of view and is most important when dealing with clients.
Great video. Nice to see a real-life model that I can relate to. Especially at the end when you can still see the texture on her skin. I will spend more time on my eye makeup 🙂
Yes they do fantastic at their foundation sticks! Foundation sticks in my opinion are more convenient for the everyday consumer as opposed to makeup artists. We would have to depot them and scoop them on with spatulas each time to maintain sanitary conditions.
Hi Julie. Have you tried curtains with grommets? my black out curtains have grommets on them and I hook the end parts to the brackets instead of the curtain rods to seal out the light from the windows.
Does the steamer/microcurrent machine come with any details about what to do if it's needed for repair? I always get a bit worried with multi use machines because say of the microcurrent stops working and it needs to be sent out for repairs, you're out of a steamer and your magnifying lamp.
I haven't checked into it specifically, but that's a risk I feel like you'd have to take with any equipment no matter if it's multi-use or not. I do know that it comes with a year warranty, but after that I'm not sure.
Actually it’s pretty common to have whole day wedding in Asia. That’s why i switched to do commercial makeup for advertising n marketing now after being a mum . Can’t be waking up early 24/7 for most days .
Hi thank so much for watching and I'm glad you enjoyed the video! If I was only using the room for esthetics that would honestly be a great idea. I still need the light for makeup though as well so that's where I'm struggling haha!
Hi, I was wondering what app or web page you will be using for client forms. I currently made mines in Canva, but people just get confused when it's time to fill it out. So, I'm looking for an easier way. Thank you love all your content. Love from Puerto Rico.
Hi! I haven't really checked into it in depth, but one of the brands I'm most likely going to use has their own consult sheets that I can use. Thank you so much for watching and i'm glad you enjoyed!
I use the mermaid pro series, not the signature and I mix the Starpil Starsoft for a perfect combination. I love the Starsoft but their prices are thru the roof! They raised their prices really high even before covid. I’ve also heard that Demawax is good but I’m getting close to retiring so I’m not trying anything new
Love your vlogs, I’ve been binge watching them as they keep me “in the routine” and I struggle with routines, plus they’re so entertaining and give me good vibes
you should think about getting one of those robots that clean the floor they have ones that like sweep and mop. And I believe you can set timers on them when you want them to do it. And then they'll go back to the base when they're done.
I have both hard and soft wax! Soft wax is REALLY precise compared to hard wax for brow waxing. I stopped using pebble wax because it took SO long to melt.
