Hi there, it's been a while! At long last I finished this corset top made from a renaissance painting printed on canvas - and I'm so excited. I love how it turned out and now I'm just waiting for an opportunity to wear it (besides at home by myself). I hope you enjoyed the video!

I haven't even looked at a sewing machine since high school (I'm 21 now so at 14) and my dumbass thinks that making a corset/stay would be the best first project for me to make lmao Edit Såg precis att du 'r dansk haha well

It's actually not that hard. It's worse to do a pant or shorts with pockets. Believe me as a first semester fashion student with barely any sewing experience my stays turned out pretty good.

@@marialouise3450 yes! Try it. However, I suggest you try to find easy fabrics to work with (like cotton or just something that keeps it shape and holds together) and another thing that helps if you really want a clean result is to pin your fabrics together and then sew them on place by hand with large regular stiches. Them remove the pins and sew together with the machine. If you have the extra time, it helps to keep the pieces in place, diminishes wrinkles and makes it very neat.

@@marialouise3450 nice! I used Jacquard and it was a very bad decision haha. It turned out fine (not perfect) but I managed somehow.

I feel I’d be good at dressmaking despite having no experience other than makin a Roman blind once. You’ve given me confidence, although I doubt I’d be as good as you that quick, bit I feel much more positive I can do it now. Beautiful corset by the way. You should be proud because it’s a quality attention to detail piece and suits you.

For evenings I could imagine this corset going very pretty together with a long flowing multilayered tule skirt, for example outer layer a bluish grey and inner layer terracotta-pink...

this is fantastic!! it's not even just a corset top, it's a whole corset- i'd recommend wearing a layer underneath though (like a flowy shift type shirt/dress) so that this gorgeous piece doesnt get dirty quickly and doesnt rub if you wear it for longer periods of time :)

It looks great! Since you didn't say anything about it, I just though I should mention that it's not a good idea to wear a corset or other boned garments on bare skin. It needs a light protective layer in-between, a simple camisole works just fine for that purpose. This protects both your skin from potential chafing, and the corset from sweat stains and discolouration :)

This is gorgeous. I’ve never made a corset to date but really want to. Can I please ask why you cut a different seam allowance on lining and outer fabric. Ie. .8cm for lining and 1cm for canvas?
