One project I have wanted to take on for quite a while is a brisket knife! I recently got some time to try something new out and decided to give it a try. This one has a W2 steel blade and beautiful desert ironwood burl handle. In this video, I take you all through the steps I took to make this beast of a knife! Please leave us a like and subscribe if you enjoy the video, since your support helps us grow!

We are a team of two brothers that creates handcrafted knives. From the initial designing and grinding of the steel blanks to the final sanding of the handle, each step of the process is done by hand, which makes every knife that comes out of our shop 100% unique. In all of our blades, we strive to combine the clean lines of modern design with excellent performance, so that your knife will do its job properly and look great in the process.

I really like how you showed and reviewed the belts in the progression sequence you would use.

I see I'm late to the party. But none-the-less you did a beautiful job on creating this knife. One thing though from Canada's brisket capital, Montréal a proper brisket knife should be at least 14". And I agree a good sharp tip, not a round nose. Good video, I'm looking forward to watching more of your videos.

Thanks for the kind words! I guess I will have to make another one that is at least 14” long for you then. 😉

One hand grinding this blade? Jesus Christ. This is some insane skill you have.
@StarkKnives
@StarkKnives 3 года назад
Haha I only do one hand for a couple of video shots. That would be something if I did the entire thing that way! Thanks!

Looks amazing. Do you hand sand at all on this or is it purely grinder finish?
@StarkKnives
@StarkKnives 3 года назад
I just did a belt finish. I don’t normally hand sand unless I’m doing a hamon or something. I don’t find it to be worth the extra work and most customers aren’t willing to pay the extra money. Thank you!

W2 is it can hold long than 1095 to get rust ???
@StarkKnives
@StarkKnives 3 года назад
I’m not exactly sure what the question is. Both W2 and 1095 will rust if left not oiled and will form a patina. Let me know if that doesn’t answer the question!

where did you get that buffer part for your grinder ?
@StarkKnives
@StarkKnives 3 года назад
It is from Brodbeck Ironworks! It works for pretty much any 2x72 grinder with standard arms.

How did you get such a big following? How long did it take before you could do knifmaking full time?
@StarkKnives
@StarkKnives 3 года назад
It used to be a lot easier to get followers on Instagram than it is now. I also had a few posts go viral on Reddit. But I would just recommend being really consistent in posting and building a relationship with your followers. I don’t really consider myself full time since I just graduated from college and I am still planning on getting more degrees. But I probably could if I wanted to. I’ve been doing it for about 7-8 years now and would say that the last 2-3 would have been enough to go full time.
